Well, as many of you already know, my name is Richard, and Carol is my wife. I'm 60 and she is a very young 51! We have three daughters in their early 30's living in Oklahoma City, Denver, and Atlanta. The Atlanta daughter is married and has one son.
We are young retired people. Me from the practice of law and Carol from a managment position with the US Postal Service. We live in Yukon, Oklahoma which is a suburb of Oklahoma City.
Other than cruising, Carol's main hobby is sewing on her "Ferrari" embroidery machine and other machines I can't begin to describe. Mine include, of course, being an automobile enthusiast as you can see under "Cruise Talk", along with landscaping and architecture.
Our first cruise was in '92 on Crown Cruise Line (now defunct) to the W. Carib. We used a local TA I like to call "Cheap Bob" who talked us into a broom closet sized inside room, but otherwise the cruise was enjoyable. We didn't cruise again till '98. Between then and 2001, we cruised RCI Norwegian, and another incarnation of Crown lines to the far S Carib. By 2001, these "mass market" lines had started down their slippery slope into massive nickel and diming and crowded conditions, and we decided no more cruising like that. In the Summer of '01, we booked on Renaissance for a March '02 cruise to the E. Med. When the tragic events of 9/11 occured, we cancelled that cruise on 9/12, and that was a good move as Renaissance declared bankruptcy on 9/25. We then learned that Radisson was offering specials for those who had been booked on Renaissance for cruises scheduled to depart after the bankruptcy, and of course did not. We discovered that we qualified, dispite our cancelation, and I said "Let's go to Tahiti!" We did on the Paul Gauguin in Feb,'02. Everything after that is history. The Navigator to Alaska, Mariner Nice to Rome, PG again back-to-back, Navigator again to Bermuda, and Diamond to the W. Carib. Next up will be the Voyager Trans-Canal on April 13. There are many people on this board (and the CC board)who are booked on that cruise, and we are eager to meet all of them!
