Hi,
I would like to say how essential it is for people to post good and bad experiences to help those of us who've never sailed on a certain line or ship make an informed decision. I appreciate ALL input! I have 3 cabins booked on Nautica's June 8 Rome to Istanbul & some of the things I've read here & on CC make me a bit apprehensive! I know there are things that can always go wrong, but Liz's cruise seems to be the cruise from hell! A cruise is not merely going from point A to point B: it is a vacation that is supposedly based on SERVICE. The customer is always right - and if they happen not to be right, they should be delt with in a respectful & reasonable manner. The rudeness of the staff is not only a matter of training, but one of common decency, as well.
I guess I have until March 10 to monitor posts & make my informed decision!
I must say I have been solidly unimpressed with their reservations department.
I would hope that Frank del Rio takes passengers' complaints to heart, as there is plenty of competition out there. It is much easier to keep an existing customer than to cultivate a new one!
Any time you're dealing with the general public, there will be difficulties, but that is why customer service should include diplomacy, apologies, and compensation for goods & services not delivered as advertised.
Thank you, Liz, for re-living your nightmare with us. I know it's not pleasant, to say the least, and so much of it could have been avoided by Oceania's staff. I think that also people were hired to do jobs that they were not suited for. Too much negative energy on that ship!!!
