Jan- You asked if I minded if you brought some of my comments to the attention of the Hotel Manager. Please, I don't want anyone punished over any of this. These poor people are very obviously untrained in the manners part of their job. Even our Cabin Stewardess doesn't know any better. She was always dour and unpleasant. She probably never had any advantage of going to the universities the cruise lines have in her home country. Doesn't Oceania utilize them? I know both Holland and NCL always had their own training schools they required everyone attend even before they were hired. That is where they learn how to address people. None of the service people seemed even to be aware of any of the niceties of handling passengers. Of course the Cruise Director and her staff did, but I don't believe any one else did. To call things to their attention will just cause them trouble and they won't learn that way. I think proper training should be the order of the day. And that would probably have to come from the top. Liz
