my brother will do luxor to barcelona

and now my inlaws 81 years old

both want to join in dubai to singapore

and we had them on navigator for 60 days and they

danced every night till 1-2 am

then called me at 7am for breakfast

they are like the everready battery keep going
and going!!


they actually celebrated their 50th anniversary on the navigator and captain romeo re married them
with all the officers in dress uniform on hand

when alfredo asked my father in law will you take her for your wife


after 50 years his reply was

do i have to?

this will now be a fun fun cruise!!

well after a niec flight on lufthansa in business
to germany and zurich we had a pleasant surprise
with swiss air where we got first class

on arrival cairo they met us and paid visa and took us through vip lane

then on to luxor

one bag left on belt

looked like ours
wasnt!! man an upset wife wityh no jewellry

they finally found bag and delivered to hotel
during the night

then a private transfer to ship

warning!!! 3 hour drive and nothing to see

now on board and nicely enough we know some of the crew (after 400 days guess so)

so now getting ready for muster drioll and prime 7

the voyageur looks and feels fantastic

we sail in one hour

cannot wait to feel the ship move

strangely enough

some passengers were with us on navigotor last year

wish i could rememember names!!

there are about 70 empty cabins so really feels empty

suppose to pick up more on way to barcelona as the regent office sold this as two crusies

whereas for us market was only one cruise

Great to hear your reports Victor I too love the WADI RUM area I always want to see Lawrence of Arabia again after visiting there. It was one of my favorite movies. Glad all is well, luggage arrived, old friends to visit with and lots of space.

rosanne went off to petra with my brother

i didnt want the 3 hour drive

very very quiet on ship but thats ok

i am on holidays

the strange part in jordan is you see very few women

the men here must lock them all up

all shops restauants etc all are male staff


had some great food last night at ali babas

in downtown and their beer is 8% alcohol

also just 2nd day and i have drunk all their german bitters

we sail tonight at 8 going back to egypt

it is a tough life and only 60 days left'

and it is very cool here

thought it may be warmer but as we go through the suez we have been told to expect colder weather

had dinner with capt macneil and paul reynolds

capt macneil is going home tomorrow so it was
nice that he took time to have dinner with us
even though he had no sleep all night with canal
transit

first time at tabel with just 4 with captain
we sort of pre celebrated my birthday since he will not be here for it

we now overnight in haifa for two nights as they cancelled tel aviv due to problems with local issues

all tours the same just a longer drive so it will
be 2 long days in cool ohn the buses with non stop talking guides

a lot of people are confused but i am sure it will
all work out

Just found this thread. We will be boarding in Barcelona for the segment to Dubai. I know at least one other LCT couple will board there, too. Really enjoy reading your posts and glad you're having a good holiday. I really envy that you are going all the way to Singapore (or Sydney)! Sounds like we have a few vacant suites BCN-DXB though not as many as you have now. I'll be easy to recognize on board: I'll be the short heavy set guy with two tall ladies, wife and cousin. now i will tell you why i dont like ships tours

yesterday we drove to jaffa fro 3 hours due to traffic and were told only one hour there as we must be back on ship at 2pm

3 hours to stay one??

not tour compny fault or ships

some guests dont want to miss lunch!!

back to private tours an dlunch on shore for me

a word of caution if you ver book this part of world be ready for co9ol weather this time of year

Not boring at all, Victor. Too bad about the Jaffa tour. My thoughts are if the tour falls over lunch time, it should be included or time to get lunch on land should be available, if the food in that area is safe to eat. Many factors involved. these early morning and long day tours are starting to take a toll on passnegers

many are grumpy and not happy
some tour guised will not shut up

talk for full 3 hours and more

the cool weather does not help either

it was nice touch yesterday when tour busses
did get back they had a band at gangway with about 40-50 staff dancing and clapping to welcome all back to ship

almost like when it was bstandard on song of flower!


today is a short tour as we sail tonight at 6pm

3 days in same port gets very tiring so we sahll all be glAD to sail away

now 5pm local and we sail to cypress at 6pm

so glad we will be back here again as so so much to see and do

so much history wish it were warmer though as it is cool till sun rises and of course all tours leave at 8 am so no late night drinking/parties!!

as to the complainers i dont listen

too bad they cannot just enjoy!!

prome 7 has been very empty most nights

i suspect because the tours have you tired out
you can walk in at almost anytime

i think next cruise will be busier but again same ports with long tours so who knows

the staff on board are great
i have yet to meet the new captain who is on board
dont even know his name yet just know he is italian and lives in peru

ralph the hotel manager has been fantastic checking to ensure all is well

and of course the bartenders can do enough!

oh and by the way i am supporting the casino to keep its lights on as usual never learn!!

Enjoying your posts immensely. The Italian captain with the Peruvian wife--we have sailed with him before. My husband loves the wife as she is very pretty.

If the captain is Italian, and his wife is from Peru, then that must be Mario and Marianna? Yes, RachelG, and Marianna is just as smart and charming as she is pretty! She was a former purser on a ship when they met. Met them both last year and had the luck of the draw for dinner with both one night (with joannapv), on the Sydney to Beijing cruise last fall. What a great night we had!

LOL it looks like everyone was right about who is/will be the hotel manager! Victor, your morning martini's make me laugh! I have been trying to stalk you on the webcams but no luck so far. If you see another cruise ship in port and you remember the name, can you let me know?

Davor is on my paperwork as currently the GM for the Mariner. We are in Heathrow on our way to Rome to join the ship. The staff move constantly and often I am told by RSSC that a certain person was on a ship - I get there and he or she is not there. Chimi was the Dining Room Manager on the Navigator when we were on in October, he left there to go to the Voyager. My paperwork for Splash shows he is on the Mariner. It will be interesting to see if he is really there.

The Turkish drink 'Raki' tastes surprisingly similiar to the Greek drink "Ouzo".

with ports everyday most are running out of energy


not surprising !

the weather yesterday was great and it appears today will be about 60- 65 so not bad

seven seas party was last night and i was very surprised there were not more repeaters on board

in any case off for morning martini which is always waiting

just wish i had more drinking buddies

here is a good one

this guy goes into bar and asks for 3 drinks
does this for about 3 months

barteneder asks why 3 drinks

he answers one for me and one each for two friends on the west coast that he misses


then one day he comes in and orders 2 drinks

surprised bartender asks why the change

he answers because i decided to stop drinking!!

now getting back into turkey!!

and very very cold!!!

going on tour today
and cant wait for our first sea day tomorrow

wont have to wake at 6am,

still very quiet on board but i expect with full
load ex barcelona that will change

kusadasi was nice and the weather ok once sun came out

i just hated when tour ended in a carpet and the jewellery store

i know end of season and they need revenue but to be forced in the carpet store one way with only exit through jewellery store was not nice

they sit you down unroll carpets with some good information

but then about 10 sales persons enter the room for the big push!!

i would not buy just out of principle dont like to be pushed

we have had some fun on board with one young fellow signing whoevers cabin number to do purchases and then get caught


we had another person sit down with my wife and complain about this guy victor

he tips too much

he only wants captains table

and he went on and on

my wife of course waited for more info and pushed
as to how he knew this

he just continued that this victor guy is a real bad person

paul reynolds say what was going on and joined conversation

then he leaned over and told this man

dont you know you are talking to victors wife????

from what i hear his color changed a lot and he apoigized again and again


for once the rumor mill about me was wrong

as far as to cabins i know nothing about cat c is available

i think the lower cabins may have space

we had a medical emergency last night so we diverted to a port close by to off load the passenger and now will be late arriving malta
and now some tours cancelled due late arrival

as stated earlier we will be late due to medical emergency

it is pouring cats and dogs today and i hope it clears as we have never been to malta and are looking forward to seeing as much as we can
it is also getting to the end of trip for my brother who leaves in barcelona to go home to toronto
it was a quiet sea day yesterday with everyone looking forward to turkey and football on the big screen

i had a few drinks and took a long nap
missed the entire night!

but hey today is another day
it is a lot of fun just sitting at pool bar and listen to everything that has happened on ship

i have a huge hangover as we were on last night of the cruise for almost 95 %

of course rosanne and are are staying
went into casino where i have lost every day

Hope to be on board promptly at noon tomorrow. All that is left is a 2 hour flight out of Frankfurt (in less than an hour) and a night at a hotel. I'm ready for those martini's!

Victor, Saw a bunch of Regent pax touring at Sagrada Familia yesterday. Fortunately, we beat the tour groups there and had the place to ourselves for almost an hour. Do you happen to know whether you're at Terminal A, B, C or D? We won't make noon but an hour or two later.

at sea today almost off the coast of sardinia

and it is very cool but i know as we go south it will warmn up a lot

got to meet some new passenegers last night
and for sail away there were not too many out on the deck

i think everyone was tired getting to ship so very quiet

i forgot to mention that the voyaguer lounge got all new furniture

looks great!

had a fairly quiet night as well as my b rother left to go back to toronto
longest time i ever spent with him in 50 years!

and yes the ship is full for the next few segments
but they will have a cabin if we extend until australia again!!

it also looks like we have more smokers on board and less smoking areas so i guess we will have to fight for seats in lounge!!

off now to get some breakfast and check in on my wife who has partied every night and finally needs
a rest!!

just coming into port

and my cold is a little better went to bed early last night i think the cool weather is doing me in but i do know warm weather on the way

rosanne has been leading the charge in the voyageur lounge every night

she doesknow how to party but this old man just cannot keep up

2 days and i will be 60 wow

i will qualify for all those senior discounts

as to anything else on ship this trip has been much quieter than last week
not many at pool bar and it appears fewer smokers as well

tonight i will try andd mak voyageur and catch up on all the gossip as i like to over hear whats going on around teh ship

as to food it is very dispointing on shore

they dont have the 4 hour rule so some food was made last week for sure!!

almost all hotel closed for season and very little food places open

todays weather was fine for walking and lots to see but as i said most places closed

yesterday was my 60tH birthday


did a long tour to the dead sea

and got back about 90 minutes later than expected

was having dinner with the hotel manager and paul the cruise director and was worried about being late


now get thsi i get back and avery officer is in dress uniform to wish me a happy birthday!!!

though i did make it to bethlehem yesterday


a very fast tour as we sailed at 2 pm and i went right bar to bar to clear my head so i thought


the weather is getting much warmer and people are starting to come out


i may even go to voyageur lounge tonight !!

it is so so easy to have 2 drinks in your hand at same time

not much else to say yet

only 2 code mikes so far

and one was my birthday where hotel manager ralph and paul the cruise director were having dinner with me

paul told ralph that last two times he was called away and like clockwork the code mike alarm came!!

hi all
sorry i was overnite and tired in luxor

3 hours on a bus that turned into 4 and 1/2

but it was worth it!!

when we boarded here some weeks ago we did no tours so got to see everything despite the many kids and vendors bothering us

as usual prices are half when on way back to bus

the weather has been fine once the sun gets up

actually very comfortable

i also may say that the guide we got was fantastic!!

we stayed at teh hilton as regent used 3 different hotels not sure who went where but no matter as we were all tired

last night i had 3 scotch and a beer and was out

uo at 6 am for 8 am departure tours till noon
lunch then back to ship getting back at 530 or so

and now we find out the platters are on board for two shows so looks like a nic ecouple days

we now sail to petra and again an overnite and then 4 sea days

my liver will take a real shock

4 sea days at pool bar!!!

not much else going on cept tonight we have phoenix an illusionist of sorts who we drink with every day a show aagin not to be missed

i must also say i feel an inprovement on entertainment that was not there before!!

my only question would be is what happens when we hit 500 days?? there are no more levels to go and i am only 60??

as you know the food is great on board but the drink portions are far better!!

woke up late bought the casino last night!!

great weather though!!

inlaws joining in dubai which means i must behave yeh!!!

closed the casino and bar last night!

did have dinner in compass rose best soup ever!!

i have a super bartender who slides me drinks when rosanne not watching!!

and i met the platters last night really looking forward to the old music!!

good morning from jordan

was suppose to go to petra today and surprise
i didnt make it!!!

went ashore and rosanne went shopping and i decided to have a few drinks
aLso since overnight here no one in lounge when i got back so i decided to keep bartender company

what a mistake !!

i have no idea what time i left or which taxi company i took to my cabin!!

in any case up at 10 am and still alive!!

we sail today for 4 sea days yah!!!

not much alse going on but i am sure bar will be the place to be

update again later!!

ps the cruise consultant is fantastic and busy all day long anyone wanting to cruise with regent better book soon they expect all next year to be all sold very soon and he will be selling later cruises

shows that regent does have it right!!

and they do!!

Loving you boozemail!!! I have heard that The Platters put on a great show. Thanks for the tip about the Cruise Consultant being busy. I placed my booking last week!

Continue to have a great cruise and keep us filled in on what going on. I remember those 4 days at sea in the Red Sea to Oman. We were sequestered to our suite for two days as my traveling companion developed Mummy Tummy. I'm sure your days will be much different than ours. Keep those bartenders on their toes.

One of best ways to avoid Mummy Tummy is to keep a good alcohol level going! Works in Mexico or any other country with questionable food sanitation as well. I think Victor is just drinking for his health.

Victor, your posts are so entertaining. Glad you and Roseanne are having such a good time. You'll LOVE the Platters, they were on KANGAROO (Sydney to Beijing)...have fun in the conga line! Rooster even played afternoon poker with us.

we are now at day 1 of our 4 sea days

jordan was very very cold yesterday and windy

and from the bartenders on land they say they have never seen it this cold!!

i have met the crazy platters both in the casino and on land and they do love to partyy!!!!!!

we lost one hour last night with time change and all is quiet on ship

it will be interesting to see who will be at pool bar as as soon as there are sea days new peopel appear from nowhere

i was up reading my newspaper this morning and the weather is starting to get warmer which is great

the food and staff have been outstanding
i think every crew memeber knows our names and have been schooled how to say our last name as well

thats why i stay at regent

it will also be interesting what happens when you hit 500 days on regent as to what you may look for at that level right now there is nothing but as more and more passengers get up in days regent
has to rethink it seven seas society

i have been called by one other cruise line that if i switch i get the top tier with them due to my regent status

and also the number of guests i may bring along with me but i declined

glad i did

so whats the ebst way to start your first of 4 sea day

4 sea days is starting off great!!

i have no idea how or when i got to room last night!! and if i was alone???

saw the platters last night and probably the best show ever on regent!!
and after show they were all in voyageur lounge
talking to all passenegers

a class act!!

my morning martinis are now staring to hurt!!

but i guess if i have 2 i will feel better!!

nice and peacefull this morning weather getting warmer and more people out to sun!! but i am sure some will be hurting as they do not realize just how strong that sun can be

and yes marcie i will snoop as you know more and more are passing the 400 days so why stay??

if someone offers more although i will say i am here due to crew !!

had a great dinner at compass rosee as usual and they made special effort for a quiet table!

and now i must party till du7bai when my in laws arrive at which time i will be regimented to dining times drinking etc!!

and karen i wish you were here as rosanne is cloing bar most nights and you could be anchor!!!

now day 3 at sea
entering teh dangerous area of yemen
but we have lots of security and a big sound blaster just in case

also this morning got an e mail saying regent oversold on next cruise and they are offering a huge amount like i have never seen to leave my in laws at home!!!!!!!!!!

now can you imagine me calling them and saying we wont be together fro christmas and new years and they are 81 years old

could maybe never get another chance to be together for so long

so i kiss the money and free cruise in grand suite good bye !!

man i will have to have more martinis to dull the pain!!!

on another note the sea is very very calm
i dont remember ever having calms seas for over a month!!


my dear wife againclosing voyageur lounge nightly as i get my rest so i get up early

i am sure a lot on board wonder if she even has a husband but when you are 10 years younger sometime you have more stamina or something like that i cant keep up!!

as usual the food as well is fantastic as usual and the service could not be any better

i will update on day 4 at sea as long as hangover is not too bad

weather is now getting much better

and the seas have been nice
not even one rough day

they asked rosanne to be one of santas elves last night as every crew member available starting with christmas decorations all over the ship

i think we are ready for santa to arrive!!!

the busy pool bar was fun yesterday with the platters entertaining all day with sound and of course lots of booze!!

tonight they do a private show for all the upper tier memebers of regent just a great group of guys!!

we are looking forward to our next port in oman seems to be very interesting area

the platters were on last night and never ever on regent have i seen such passenger interaction

whoever at regent picked these guys did a greta job

not only a great show but they are always around talking to passnegrs pictures etc!!

just a class show and team!!

most are getting packed as they leave in two days

thats the best part of doing more than one cruise is knowing you are stayiong on!!


will be going to abu dabi and staying overnight at the palace hotel!!

you get gold from a vending machine!

and also the next day my in laws are joining us so this will be fun

thinking of maybe extending to australia but not too sure how to do that!!!!!

weather is great food is great

and yes they still have some booze left!!

as usual rosanne closed bar again last night

we will have bartenders changing in dubai and i will miss my pool barteneder anthony who hides my extra drinks

maybe when jose comes i can teach him as well??

now the fun part comes where i must behave for my mother in law
