Peggy & Cindy - if the USAirways / American combination does take place, I would bet that there would not be that much of an effect on DFW (the closest USAirways hub is Phoenix currently). Aadvantage program is actually the most profitable part of AMR (the holding company for American) so I don't think that would change either. I also don't see the combination going to StarAlliance and would stay with oneWorld since USAirways is kind of the stepchild airline in the US for Star (principal one being United/Continental) and oneWorld would be left without an airline in the US otherwise.
But I'm sure that there would be problems in integrating the operations.
I'm not sure that AMR executives will actually have final say in the matter since AMR is in bankruptcy.
