Congrats - I got mine last week (we're the week before you). Did you notice that this year the Bermuda sailings have 3 Informal nights and 4 CCC? A change from last years 1 Informal night. I found out that the 2,3 & 6 nights are the informal nights.

Let the packing begin!!

Kathy:

Thanks for the info. I had assumed 2 (Captains Welcome) and 6 (Captain's Farewell) were informal; Arlene will be glad to know the other night. That is somewhat surprising since that is the night of the Sunset Cruise shore excursion.

thanks,

Marc-

Whoops - it's 2, 5 & 6 - I looked at it wrong - they are all on "at sea" nights not when in Bermuda overnight. I got this info from Radisson directly.

Also there is a GREAT review with pictures on Tom Ogg's www.cruisereviews.com site. It makes me even more anxious to sail!!! It was done based on his 4/12/04 sailing so it's very current. Very informative as if we hadn't already read everything we could about this ship!!

I was looking at Tom's review last night. (He was kind enough to post a link on a cc post he did.) What a terrific job he did - now we're even more excited. Only a few more days for us. (I mostly only count work days since those are the ones I hate.... and which drag on forever......)

One question, though...

He mentions the "Judith Jackson Spa". I thought Carita had taken over? Do you think it was just a typo?

Kathleen-

Please post your comments when you return or even from the ship if so inclined. I'd love to know what the weather is like in Bermuda - water temps. I'm not sure if we'll take our snorkel gear or not.
I think it was probably a typo.

Have a great cruise!!!

Carita has taken over the spa on Navigator, but the bathroom toiletries are still Judith Jackson-at least they were on 4/3 and 4/12 sailings........

Kathy,

Thanks for linking the review; it really whets the appetite! I'll be curious to hear your reaction to the comedian and also your comments on dinner at the Portofino Grill.

Thanks!

Just read Tom's review. The photos made me wish I was still onboard! I do miss that wonderful bathroom in the suite!!!

I just enjoyed the review as well, particularly the pictures, as I have not been on the Navigator except my first two in her maiden year and the next! Just goes to show the different perceptions people have. This is the itinerary that aaannnthony on cc last year said was so bad. When you are on a great ship and are happy onboard, the rest falls into place to make for a great experience!

I read the review and I have seen Kenny Smiles on the Mariner. He was the entertainment highlight on the Alaska sailing. Go figure. Different strokes as they say. We thought he was very funny. He's from "Down Under"

I didn't particularly care for Kenny Smiles either on my first cruises. But on the Voyager "shakedown cruise" they put him into the "hot" seat for tea one day, and I fell for him! He is a great family man, who has had some health problems of late, and I really enjoy him now that I can put other issues aside!

Kathy,

I probably won't be posting from onboard (after reading Ngaire's comments about the speed), but I promise a full report the very day I return. (Being a systems analyst for a living makes me a very fast typist.)

I'm also going to take lots of pictures of elusive suite 601. Like so many other posters, I've heard great reviews, but never seen any pics.

They need to rename this Navigator season after all the Kathy's on board her. Well, at least this thread.

How about "Kathys and Company"? or "Year of The Kat?"

Kathleen since you are sailing first you need to tell them to be ready for us on future sailings - maybe some extra "welcome" champagne would be in order!!

It looks like we will have 3 weeks straight covered on this ship - I sail 5/25, Chat Kat sailes 6/2 and GF sails 6/9. Kathleens the early sailor.

Can you tell I'm excited!!

Sorry to break the pattern; we don't sail until 6/16 (NJS?), no one else on this board that I'm aware of. But that gives me another week to garner all your impressions!!

Marc, WHO is Al Stewart? Pardon my ignorance. confused

He wrote and sang a song from the 70's (1976)called "Year of the Cat". Now I have that song playing in my head. Uh oh.... It was very popular "Light Rock"

Someone was wondering about the weather...here's the lastest report from weather.com:

Bermuda Weather

Don't think the water will be really warm, but of course that's relative - Floridians usually don't go in unless it's over 80!

Here's to Year of the Cat on Navigator - have fun all of you Kathys!

ChatKat is correct; Al Stewart was early-mid seventies singer who actually had six or seven albums but released only three in US. Year of Cat wsa his one hit wonder but he had a lot of other great songs; none of the names do I remember now. My roommate in college had all of his albums.

Can any of last years sailors tell us how early we can board in NYC?

Margo-

Being from FL originally your are right - I don't think I'll be in the water when we sail. I like it warm like bath water temps.

The air temps look perfect though!!

Well all you guys have fun!! I'm envious, but at least we have two weeks on the Outer Banks to make up for it. We sail in Sept with Kathy and Frank (ChatKatR) to Canada and are counting the days till then.
Kathleen - can't wait to see your photos of the elusive suite 601, as we are in it on the Sept sailing - do you think it doesn't exist???? haha!! joke would be on us wouldn't it?? we'd probably have to bunk with Frank and Kathy in that case!!
Anyway all you Bermuda sailors, like I said have fun, we will be thinking about you!!

Karen, thanks. This is first trip to NYC and first cruise for my mother in law. We hope she enjoys the trip and has no problem on the crossing.

This is only our fifth Radisson cruise (and only eighth overall). There are many here with far more experience and far more knowledge than we. We still want to find a time where we can cruise with you and Mark. After going to Europe for three straight years, we have decided to avoid Europe next year just as everyone seems to be heading that way.

We are still looking at the three day Mariner cruise 17 Dec. Maybe we can still get an East Coast trip going.

thanks,

Marc,
Have a GREAT cruise, by the way my husband and I did the canopy tour in Costa Rica in March, and we loved it, thanks for telling us how much fun it was.
We're not cruising again until Jan. of 2005, I don't know how I am going to wait that long.
cheer

Mark and Arlene,

Wish we were sailing with you again as we did on the Voyager's New Years cruise. That was a great cruise, and I know this one will be a great cruise also. It would really surprise me if Arlene Mother does not fall in love with cruising. I hope the three of you have a wonderful trip.
