Hi Karen. Tom and Mona also will be st the Sheraton Ft Lauderdale Beach Hotel the night of January 3rd.

FYI for those who qualify for government or military rates, the Renaissance Ft Lauderdale has an excellent government rate of $112 a night available. It is almost one-third of the regular rate.

We had already booked the Sheraton Beach Hotel before I knew a lot of folks would be staying there, so add us to the list for Jan. 3. Wouldn't it be nice if the pre-cruise party was here (or at least somewhere nearby along SeaBreeze or Atlantic Avenue).

We have booked at the Sheraton Beach Hotel also, since everyone else seems to be there.

Don't know yet about Dick and Nancy yet, he is checking some airfares and such.

Greg & I live in the Greater Ft Lauderdale area... so we will be here. I highly recommend making hotel reservations ASAP. This time of year is very busy in South Florida and hotels fill fast.

We too have booked Jan. 3rd at the Sheraton Beach Hotel.

Edit: We are probably going to arrive in FL on 12/31. Most likely be at Universal/Disney a couple of nights, then near Everglades on the 2nd, and on the 3rd roll into FLL for FIESTA!

The really nice Kelly from the Sheraton hotel reservations offered this to anyone in the group, it's $60 per night to upgrade to ocean view balcony, I love a balcony so I took the upgrade. If you would like her direct phone number, email me and I can give it to you.

It's too bad we don't live in Hollywood anymore everyone could have stayed with us in our one room condo. It would have been a real party.

They must of made some nice upgrades to this property, because I know prior to the renovation, I do not remember balconies ever exisiting...

The Wreck lounge is a great spot to have a drink, especially before boarding a cruise....

I just read the hotel reviews here at Tripadvisor and they look pretty good, it sounds like even more renovation has been done since I stayed there last year.

Karen, will they provide free parking for the length of the cruise? If so, that deal might be worthwhile.

Yikes, Karen: I just read a couple of reviews for this place and they don't exactly praise it to the skies!! But it's only a bedroom for one night so what the h. And the fun will take care of the scum!

Jean, you must of read the reviews from when it was the Yankee Clipper. I stayed there last year after it became the Sheraton and I have to say, it puts the Hyatt Regency pier 66 to shame!!!

Editing to add, I read some of the reviews here at Trip Advisor and they range from filthy room to lovely spacious room, the only thing I can guess is that we stayed in a renovated portion of the hotel last year? We will be in the renovated part for FIESTA as well as I upgraded to the new balcony rooms.

If you skim thru some of the 79 reviews at the link above, you will see that the majority think the hotel is nice.

Oh good Susan, glad you and Russ have joined in, looks like lots of pooch will be going on.

Maybe we can even have precruise pooch. I will bring some cards.

Must admit, Karen, that I didn't read through them all. I upgraded us with points to a beach front room. Don't know if that's in the new section or not. As I said, it's no biggie. We'll certainly survive!
