This just arrived in my mailbox . . .

We're writing to let you know that the Gold Points Reward Network program will be ending entirely and ceasing all operations at 11:59 PM Central Time on December 31, 2008. If you wish to redeem your Gold Points you must do so before this time. You may redeem your Gold Points by visiting goldpoints.com. (This does not apply to the Carlson Hotels goldpoints plus program.)

Even if you only have a few Gold Points in your account, you can convert them into airline miles or points in other loyalty programs through Points.com before the Gold Points Reward Network program ends — visit goldpoints.com for details.

You can review the Gold Points Reward Network Privacy Policy and revised Terms and Conditions via these links.

Thank you for participating in Gold Points Reward Network.

Sincerely,

Gold Points Reward Network

Did anyone else have a reduction of points? According to my email, I have 50% less points than I did have.

Well Frank got the email, but I didn't. Now that may be due to the fact that we are householded, and he is the primary holder, so all the points show up on his account.

Now, I thought well, lets just transfer those points to airline miles, but I could not find anywhere on the site that showed what airlines you could transfer to, much less how to do it.
So....Coleen, since we would probably transfer to AA or UA, where, how???? And better yet, is it even worth worrying about?

you can buy Target, TGIF, Macy gift cards etc. too. I used the remaining points we had and got outdoor children toys.

Hi Marcie,
That's what I'm planning, gift cards, but I wonder if they have an expiration date? Didn't remember about Target, was thinking more along Lowe's, Home Depot as DH goes there fairly frequently. Have you received them yet?

Thanks,

I got that far Peggy, I just could not find anywhere on the site for transfering points to airline miles, much less which airlines you could transfer to. There was a list on the left side, but none of the subjects covered transfering airline points.
Maybe I'm just missing something.

I'm using my points for gift cards too: amazon, staples. Places where I go anyway.

I don't have any cards at the moment but I don't think they have an expiration dates.

When I went to points.com I put in my Goldpoints number and it showed how many points I had and, I don't remember EXACTLY what I did, but it was pretty obvious. Maybe it said something like "transfer". I ended it with a list of 15 programs I could transfer to. One was American airlines.

I still don't know if it costs anything. Does anyone know?

I don't think it costs anything, Colleen, or they would of asked you to pay when you transfered.

I haven't actually transferred yet. Got as far as the amounts and wasn't sure if they were going to ask for a credit card.

No cost. I've just finished transferring mine. Colleen, you're not going to get much with 400 miles. I've transferred all but about 4,500 points, and that will get me $5 off a pizza.

Kathy, I didn't buy the gift cards so not sure but usually they do not have an expiration. I used our points for Regent discount on SAMBA and remainder for children outdoor toys. Toys arrived very quick!

Thanks, Marcie; in reviewing, I misread what you said , so will call to ask about possible expiration dates on gift cards. We have 126,000+ so would like to take advantage of whatever...

I've already transferred my points via Points.com, to Aeroplan. I think Points.com skims a little something off the top in the trade.

I'm going to use them again this December when I fly AA. I can take the AA points and transfer *them* to Aeroplan.

Just used out remaining Gold Points and am happy to report it was a very easy transaction. Selected a small portable photo printer and a gift card...both arrived within a week.

Cy and I had separate accounts. We used his points first and had some left over after "buying" some gift cards. I was able - easily by writing a letter - to transfer his remaining points to my account and we're in the process of using those as well.

They automatically householded (merged) our accounts. We were able to use the majority of it as Regent cruise credits (somewhere around $900.00, so I was pretty happy! :) ) and then we used the rest for gift cards and miles (transferred through points.com). It worked out pretty easily for us, although I know that the B&K ladies had to have been tearing their hair out for awhile trying to ensure their clients were receiving their appropriate credits.

I just wish they wouldn't have discontinued this program :( - I loved the idea of getting credits for upcoming cruises.
