American Express had special pre-sales for Paul McCartney concert in NYC. Tried to use concierge service (it is a Gold event). They failed to get me any tickets.

I tried to use ticketmaster site to get Platinum seats. No luck. Threw me out.

I tried to get seats via regular AMEX card and ticketmaster on-line for regular cardholders and did just fine. Great seats. cheer

Very disappointed in Platinum service.

Me too, Andi. I called and got in ONE minute before the sale started. They would not let me order or even stay on the line for 30 seconds. I was very disappointed. They would let me place an order on Friday, but, then the tickets would have been whatever was available regardless of location.

I did get tickets to the Eagles Concert :app: . Really good seats - 2nd section on the floor 20 rows from the stage center. I also got preferred seating for several really great plays - Wicked and The Producers and The Lion King and Phantom (when it first came out)so while I am not thrilled about Sir Paul, I'm not going to dump it.

The Amex concierge service is really hit or miss. As far as the ticketmaster Gold card events go, it's really best to get them online. We got 2 great floor seats for the Paul McCartney concert in Las Vegas using ticketmaster.com and using the AMEX password. Section D, row A, seats 1+2.

The Gold Card events that are associated with ticketmaster are actually handled by ticketmaster employees handling a speical 800 number so you may not get them to go out of the way for you.

The Amex Platinum and Centurion concierge service is also outsourced. They are handled by a company out of Boston. I've had great experiences and not so great experiences with them. If you get a really good one, you can find out what extension they are and try to use them again.

I got lucky on my own by trying to get tickets online through ticketmaster and got tickets at MSG for 10/1 in the 100 section first row right next to the stage.

However, we are selling 4 other tickets, 2 for 10/4 and 10/5 on eBay in the 300 section, 4th row.
I am a member of the PMcCartney Fan Club and will be getting another two. I'm trying to get closer to the floor. Kathy, where do you live? If PM tickets are available still, I can try to get them for you.

Andi,

In Los Angeles, both shows are supposed to be sold out - completely. In 10 minutes. No more tickets. :mecry:

Andi - you are too funny. And yes, I am trying to get to Las Vegas to see him (and Barry Manilow)too. Thanks, I will try back again, just in case.

Poor Frank - he is an Opera and Classical fan and then he married me. He's going to the Eagles and he doesn't even know who they are! I could not take him to the Who, the Rolling Stones and Doors concerts last year. That would have been too much for him.

Kathy,

Paul McCartney added 2 shows in the LA area that go onsale today (May 5th) at 10am. One is in Anaheim and one more at Staples. Go to www.ticketmaster.com before 10am and find the event. When it's just a minute before 10am start hitting the "find tickets" button. Go for the Amex promotional tickets. The password is the 800 customer service number on the back of your card.

Good Luck!!

That's too bad. If you check ticketmaster.com there are still some seats available for the Friday Night Las Vegas show November 25th. They're not the best seats in the house, but they're not the worst either.

There are also some seats still available for the Vegas Saturday night show, but the seats are not as good.

Thanksgiving in Vegas! We're going to the Friday night show.

FFMilesJunkie - John:

You are a wonderful addition to this board!
Welcome!

Andi had to take care of some family problems, so she missed the fan club opportunities this morning.

BUT! John, you seem to know the ins & outs of this 'how to get tickets' foolishness.

I hope that you will continue to share your knowledge with all of us here.

Doug

Thank you for your kind words. Here's another one for you. Any Rolling Stones fans out there?? I just got this in my email today. Act fast, the tickets go on sale tomorrow to AMEX Gold/Platinum/Centurion card holders before going on sale to the general public!!

THE ROLLING STONES
Get Tickets Before the General Public!
Don't miss The Rolling Stones live on stage. Gold Card Events gives you first choice to some of the best seats - before they go on sale to the general public!

Tickets go on sale in the following areas:
Boston- Tickets on sale Tuesday, May 10 at 3PM
Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco - Tickets on sale Wednesday, May 11 at 9AM

To order, call 800-NOW-AMEX, or go to www.ticketmaster.com and use your AMEX password (which is the 800# on the back of your card)

Good Luck!!! It's only Rock & Roll!!!

Yes, I saw that. I'd be there, but, I have a dinner date in Rome that night to celebrate my big 5-0 (two weeks in Italy) and I am unable to make it to the Stones then. No choice for me. I will take travel any time and listen to my 8 track tapes! confused

Rats - No Rolling Stones, No, Paul McCartney. Let's see, Neil Diamond and The Eagles are left. Eagles tickets I have already. Maybe I will try for Neil Diamond but it's not a gold card event and it's at one of the baseball stadiums, I think.

Thanks so much, Kathy!

I went running for the shelter of My Mother's Little Helper and I feel much better knowing I have LCT friends to help in my time of need! It's (Ruby) Tuesday so I have the evening to mull it over.

Alan suggested it was time to get off the computer and Let's Spend the Night Together, so off of the computer for me for tonight!

Start me UP! Thanks for all the info. We had never used our AMEX Plat for Gold events. I got our Paul McC. tickets the "traditional" way - waiting for the public sale and hitting refresh on my computer until the sale started. Unfortunately, I didn't get any tickets but couldn't accept defeat (no seats available). Nonetheless, I continued trying. To my shock, after xxx minutes of rejection, the screen offered tickets - they had just opened the Sat. show at the Anaheim Pond! Woo Hoo! I'm going to surprise my husband with 1 ticket for our anniversary (May 26th). (Of course, I get the other).

Which brings me to the Thank you for the password and info. Went online this morning, armed with the AMEX password. I just scored Stones tickets, on the floor, at Angel stadium. DH knows about this concert.

November will certainly be a rockin n rolling month for us! :3smile:

Thanks again! You are the best!

I am excited too! Have seats next to the stage at stage level; first row!!!

A Paul and Linda story....In 1987, when Paul was rehearsing for Flowers in the Dirt tour, he was rehearsing at the Lyceum theater in NYC, near my office. He'd arrive every day around noon and leave 6ish. This all culminated in a small private show before celebrities, lucky ticket winners and those who stood in line for hours for free tickets.

Every day for most of the week, I stood outside at noon and 6 and shook his hand. One day he said "You again and asked me my name and I told him and asked if he'd be kind enough to sign an autograph book. He said sure and put it in his pocket. I asked him how I would get it back. Linda said, follow us in and we'll work it out. Paul has a conference now and won't be able to sign it. I was allowed to stay for the news conference and at the end Linda came up and told me I could have it after the show that night. I said I hadn't tickets to attend and she put my name on a list. I was instructed by the roadie doing the list to come to the back door at a certain time and ask for him. I did and he asked me to wait. Robert Palmer showed up alone and the roadie asked him if I could have one of his tickets. He said "sure" and I was his "date" for the evening. Second row center in the Lyceum for an acoustic evening. Pure heaven and a signed autograph in my daughter's Disneyworld autograph book, right after Mickey Mouse and CHip and Dale.

Just read this thread...

WOW!! Andi, what a story...SIGH!!!

I saw Paul 3 years ago in San Jose and it was the concert of a lifetime! AND I have tickets to see him again at the same venue this November  !! Got 'em on line, no problem. Not the best seats, not the worst. Just being there is special! You know, breathing the same air...

Did you all know our own Ngaire was president of the Beatle's fan club in NZ when she was 16? She got to meet the Fab Four up close and personal!

BTW, saw the musical "Lennon" last night in San Francisco and really enjoyed it. It opened in SF and is on it's way to Broadway next month. It's a must for Beatlemaniacs, even tho' it's really just about John (and, uh, Yoko) the Beatles play a very small role...
