We switched from KIWIS because Mona's doctor did not want her to fly such long distances. This is a great alternative and we're looking forward to seeing everyone again and also to sail on the new Explorer.

We have a pre-cruise hotel night included so I think we're just going to use it and stay at the Regent hotel the night before the cruise. The available rooms at the Surfside are now $500 a night.

We'll depart Venice on the 19th without spending any extra time there. Unfortunately, Venice is not the best city for Mona to get around.

We'll also celebrate our anniversary on the cruise (March 27th.)

If you go to www.CruiseCritic.com right now and look under boards, ( at the top of page), then Regent Seven Seas someone has posted almost 1000 pictures of the Explorer.
Really good ones!! Just wanted to pass that along.

Number of people on Cruise Critic who either have been or currently are on the Explorer have commented that you must
place your key card in a slot when entering your cabin to turn
the electricity on through out the cabin.
If you would like to charge your commuter or other devises while at dinner or on a excursion they recommend you bring
along a old key card which you may have from a previous hotel stay so you don't have to leave one of yours.
Very common in Europe for rooms to have this but can see where it could be a problem on the ship.

Good information to share I sure have enough old boarding cards to use and will be sure to bring one.

That's true. It wasn't a big deal, we cut up cardboard or used useless business cards and that worked fine. The only strange thing, our steward and/or stewardess would remove it every few days, never to be seen again. I guess they're instructed to do so. If it were an old suite key, I guess that wouldn't have happened. We just replaced it with a new one.

We never had any problem charging our electronics. There were lots of outlets through out our F suite, even ones on each side of the bed.

It's nice that you no longer need to swipe your card key to enter your suite, you just wave it and the door unlocks.

Just got a good report from my doctor and can now confirm: Pat & Mike - count Florida - will be joining the FROLIC all the way to Venice in 618. Please add us to the roll call as, God willing, we really look forward to seeing a lot of old friends.

We've also booked the Explorer's Christmas cruise Dec 18-28 R/T Miami, and with those nights, FROLIC will be our 1st Titanium cruise! Now to find a hotel room for March 25-26 as we'll be driving a rental over to Miami; Regent can get us to the ship.

Yes, we are staying on until Rome and fly home from Rome. Using Regent air. Have not gotten our air arrangements yet. Last time we returned from Rome we went Rome Atlanta Jacksonville.

I have my doubts that we'll see excursions for Barcelona anytime soon. The main problem is that we are in Barcelona on a Sunday when many if not most of the normal attractions are closed. I don't think we'll see anything about Barcelona excursions until we are in the middle of the Atlantic.

These turnaround ports it seems nothing is done for the back to back people until you are actually on board then options show up in your cabin. Frustrating way of doing things but this is what I have experienced on my last two back to back sailings.

Goes back even to the old days. On B2B in 2008 we had three days in Venice due to B2B. The turnaround day they stopped the free shuttle without letting us know in advance. We sat on the dock for a while before we gave up; Tony and Miss Kitty had a nice conversation after that.

I agree with you, Ngaire. What's funny is that my first back-to-back Regent cruise was the Cape Town to Rio to Ft. Lauderdale cruise in 2010. Like EAGLE and FROLIC, that cruise could be booked as a single 32-day cruise or as separate segments of 14-days and 18-days respectively. We were on the 32-day cruise and spend three days in Rio with the middle day being the turnaround day. I was able to book turnaround day excursions online at the same time as all other excursions. I wish Regent would return to its 2010 practice with, at least, cruises like EAGLE and FROLIC.

Interesting thread on CC - lady posting that on April 19, DL has cancelled the non stop from Venice to JFK. We are booked on that flight the next day. Wonder why they would cancel it this far out. Hope they don't cancel the next day too ---- such a convenient flight and time, and gets us home at a fairly decent hour.

Wow!!! Sure glad i chose the flight via CDG on AF instead of JFK flight; I had been ruing my decision; now I am kind of glad of my planning.

I was on the flight that was cancelled Delta rebooked me with another itinerary on a KLM flight leaving half hour later and getting in 2 hours later with a short layover in AMS. I've had worse re-routings.
