Lots of tweaks to come including a header but I thought we would get this up for you ASAP. If you find any problems please let Karen know. We are leaving tomorrow for the Oceania Riviera Christening so glad to have this working again.

Please have patience with this new board.
There are still many technical difficulties and things to be changed and corrected. It is going to take some days to get this all done.
The reply function went down this afternoon and not sure how far down the "fix it" list this will be. So just wait and things will be all corrected eventually and this terrible time will be over.
I remember when this happened to cruise critic years ago most posts were lost and it took two weeks to get back up. Not an easy task.

Ditto what Kim said! We will be fine!
We'll all get used to the new format. Just glad to see the site is making it's way back up, and really appreciate all the efforts that are going into making it possible that we do NOT loose all the historical data. So much good stuff to be found here!

Yay, James!
Olivia, I wondered about those Spiders, too. I wasn't worried about them like I am snakes! Still having problems thinking about doing a safari after you found one in your room! But, spiders seem to be thingies that crawl around websites and index things that we can later find via search engines like google. Karen, is that right?

Olivia, James explained spiders to me and they are not bad things but not sure if I can explain exactly what they are, lol.

James has been an absolute jewel what a find! Also my wonderful Ken I cannot tell you how hard and LONG they both worked since Sunday. The emails were from another planet of GEEK talk I tried but my feeble female brain was totally confused. Amazing from yesterday late when it first loaded to where we are now. He knew we were going out of town and really pulled out all the stops to get this up for everyone. He also found the new host and server that we feel is going to be far superior to where we were. Still have some work on the header and a few other details but that can wait we all deserve some down time now. We leave tomorrow so Julie, Karen and James will be in charge! Guess where we found him. "On a message board" that was all about "Message Boards"

We are now spider free! Snakes in rooms in Africa next. Edit to say: Well, I don't really care if they are there, I just don't want to see them!

i hid it from showing in the box Guess where we found him. "On a message board" that was all about "Message Boards" Well, you guys run the UBB and I've been working with the product, along with various owners, for years on it; heck, a lot of my coding (and even more of my ideas) exist inside the product itself over the years...

I thought LCT was still down as when I clicked to open a web browser nothing appeared... and of course, LCT is my home page. Thanks to Lee who told me the site was up.
Looks good, y'all and looking forward to all the newness!!

I never thought of that, Beth. People with the old bookmark for LCT will probably see a down site. Maybe I should post on Facebook to type in www.luxurycruisetalk.com and bookmark that instead.

I thought LCT was still down as when I clicked to open a web browser nothing appeared... for some reason the cgi redirector doesn't process blank requests (as in forwarding users to the new location); if I knew more Perl I'd try to write a rule for it, but unfortunately it's been quite a while since I've had the chance to dabble...

I wish there was some indication with the ships wheel logo on left of each forum to indicate which ones have new posts. I am also getting a red x in front of some of the ships logos on right; I thought it indicated new posts but doesn't seem to be consistent.

Marc, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "mark all read" and then when new posts show up, the wheel will move and the old post's wheels won't move.
Can you explain a little better to me where you are seeing the red x's? I think the red x problem is only occuring for those who use Internet Explorer. (switch to Firefox, it's faster and has a auto spell check when typing in forums like this one!) I will open up LCT in IE and see if I can see the x's you mean

The red X issue should be fixed, I played with a couple different options for it today and i've got something that will show an icon but will allow the defaults to not have to be there since they don't tie in...

Red x are gone. Can I ask for another small modification; can we get more topics per page and more responses per page. Especially active topics or active forums; there could be new posts over a page back when you don't check in that frequently.
edited to add:
Never mind; I figured out how to change number of posts/threads per page. :)

There is still a log in problem with Internet Explorer for some people. You can log in but but once you click anything, you get logged out. I have James looking into it, hopefully he can fix it soon. In the meantime, if you have firefox, you can use that with no problems.

Okay, I apparently had to be on a Windows computer to use those preferences. I managed, but it was a pain. Your IT guy may need to check on Mac ability.
