Jim,
Getting a Turkish visa is a piece of cake. It is $20 U.S. cash at your point of entry, which in your case, is the airport. There is a well marked line and you just present your passport and cash before going through immigration.

Like I said, wish we could do both, then in between, hang out in Italy for three weeks..... yeah in our dreams. Maybe for some, but our budget doesn't work for that......sigh....both cruises sound so fun and places we love.

Just booked our flights with Delta miles. Since we disembark in Rome on a Thursday, we thought we'd stay in Italy until Sunday. So we are flying home from Venice on Oct. 20th. Today is the first day Delta is booking flights for Oct. 20th.
Outbound: BOS-FCO-IST on Alitalia
Inbound: VCE-CDG-BOS on AF

I booked our flights using UAL miles. Leaving on 10/2 LAX-Frankfurt-Istanbul on Lufthansa and returning on USAir Rome-Charlette-LAX. I lucked into getting saver Biz class tickets using the fewest miles instead of the anytime award.

Yay, Marcie! That's really great for you guys since you're coming all the way from LAX. We too were able to book biz class at the low award level! I was shocked. It isn't easy to get low level awards from Delta!
