We need some new blood on this board! Lots of you may think that this board is all about a few people who have cruised with her before, but we are all waiting to answer your questions about upcoming cruises. We banter about, but have only met because of meeting on this board. I for one like to come here and answer questions about the ships of RSSC and my one cruise on Silversea. Any questions out there? I'm sure others feel the same.

Very well said. I am in agreement! We sure could use some fresh perspective, information, questions and experiences.

Surely there are many who visit these boards that have yet to make their presence known. Please know that you are all encouraged and very welcome to participate.

Also know that there are posters like me who have never cruised RSSC (or on any line) before who hang out here just because of the quality posters and interesting threads. Come one, come all! Say hi, post, ask & participate!!

I agree. There is so much expertise among the posters here and it is a lot of fun to share our collective knowledge and also different perspectives. There have been a few new posters popping in from time to time they have not asked many questions though. So have any questions please dont hesitate.

I agree, I love when the new people post! New questions and new perspectives are great. I have been emailing with Jean N., a new girl on the block and she is delightful! I feel lucky that I get to make so many new friends here. [Linked Image]

I'm so glad you started this topic. Sometimes we get off topic with one another and forget that others may not know that we're all here to share information.

Admittedly, we can be a bit frivolous, but we all love to talk about cruising and are delighted to share it with newcomers!

I couldn't agree more - I remember on CC board, I was hesitant to post, why is that?? But once you jump in peole are so helpful. Yes some of us have cruised and have fun with each other - but please join in. I am no where as cruise knowledgeable as 90% of this board but sometimes you pick up great other hints too!! Joanna

Hello,

I'm responding to the call for new blood on the board and have a question. We are waitlisted for a cat C or B on the November PG Marquessa cruise. Ngaire tells me we are #1 for the C and #2 for the B. Has anyone had experience being on a waitlist? Any idea what our chances might be?

We are currently confirmed in cat E (all that was available when we booked), but will cancel if we don't clear for a balcony.

Thanks for your help/advice.

M. Pfund

Welcome! How's life in Ukiah? I've not sailed the PG, so I'll let the experts answer, but it's great to meet you!

mpfund: Welcome! Although I have never been on a waiting list on the PG, I have been on several (usually to downgrade to a lower balcony) and they've always come through. It is so far out that I have a feeling you'll get your balcony as soon as final money is due and cancellation fees apply! Have you seen Ngaire's pictures of the Marquesas? They are fantastic.

Hi everyone.....I'm new here too! Just recently joined, but can see there's a lot of help to be found! My husband and I will be sailing with RSSC for the first time this August on Mariner to Alaska. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary and have always wanted to see Alaska. We also scheduled a post-trip to Denali with a couple extra days in Fairbanks. We are also celebrating my husband's completion of Bachelor in Nursing program. From what I've learned, I expect we'll be sailing on RSSC again as soon as we can. Years ago I went on a Carnival, and my husband and I sailed with NCL(?), but I think those previous trips will pale considerably against the Mariner!!! So what are your favorite RSSC cruises????

CurlyQ, lets see, I have done Alaska twice on Navigator and Mariner, I have done the Baltics, the Med (twice), the Greek Isles, 2 Diamond cruises to the Caribbean, Asia (singapor to singapore on Silversea), What do you want to know?

Welcome, mpfund and Deb,

Good to see you are joining in.

Deb, I responded to some of your Alaska inquiries on CC (my screen name there is nyfeds). Glad you have come over to LCT, too.

We loved our first cruise to Alaska, on the Navigator and our second cruise, on Voyager, to the Med, last year. I feel that each ship and cruise is great in it's own way. So very hard to compare. If you like the itinerary, you can't loose.

I never did want to cruise. It held no interest for me. I will say, once you have cruised on Radisson, you will be hooked. The experience of that first cruise surprised me and exceeded my expectations more than I can say.

We will be sailing on the Diamond, Oct. 4, to Greece and Turkey, and then again, next year, on the Voyager, to the Baltics. As you can see I now never say never to cruising - on Radisson!

Have a wonderful time in Alaska - it's spectacular.

Our first RSSC cruise was on the Mariner in Alaska. We leave on our 3rd RSSC cruise to Bermuda this week (hooray - finally it's THIS Week) Expect to be spoiled. Those mass market cruises can't compete!

Thanks everyone! I don't think I can make a bad decision as far as Alaska excursions go. We've never been so it will all be brand new! I chose RSSC because of the smaller passenger load, the great staff:passenger ratio, and their reputation for service. I know I won't be disappointed. One of the reasons we have stayed away from the mega cruises is too many people. I don't like anything that's cookie-cutter style, including cruising. I know we are going to have a terrific time. Still deiciding on what excursions, but I've learned of some really good ones that I'm sure will be terrific. Hope the weather cooperates; but, if not, that's okay, we'll still have a terrific time!

Welcome Deb and mpfund!! Can't answer any of your questions since I haven't sailed RSSC yet but wanted to welcome you to the board!! :D

You'll have a great time in Alaska - so much to see and do ... (we're pondering going back again next year)

CurlyQ, I hope you will post of your adventures in Alaska. New reports are always welcome, and helpful, especially since you are doing a post-cruise trip. I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in this for the future.

I have to say that Karen was so helpful and welcoming that I feel the friendships here already and I've never met anybody yet! BUT come November and MINT I hope to meet a lot of you and have a great cruise. I doubt my husband and I can keep up with you all but we'll give it our best shot. I want to say to Tod that I thank him for his helpful info on booking a hotel online (didn't do it) and also that because of Tod my husband tried a Cosmo for the first time on our last cruise on Mariner last January. BTW, he loved them! Jean

Jean, GREAT Picture in your signature. (I'm also a major dog lover - we have 2 labs.) Welcome to the Board. My husband and I are also new to RSSC - just finished our first Navigator trip 2 weeks ago. And booked a 2005 Baltic trip about 4 days after returning home. Todd corrupted me as well - add another Cosmo lover to the list!

CurlyQ, I look forward to hearing all about your trip. What a wonderful place to celebrate your special anniversary and your husband's degree! Just one problem with RSSC - prepare to be spoiled for life. ;)

MPFund, the Marquesa's is high up on our wish list. Good luck with the waitlist - sounds promising! And welcome aboard!!

Kathy, I have to admit we are not new to Radisson--this MINT will be our 14th cruise with them!! Don't you think they should put a crown on our heads or maybe offer us a free glass of champagne?? Or give us a Cosmos party?
