Hello all. Just received an e-mail from support at citibank asking for my card number and pin.
I called Citibank and was told this is a fraud. I informed AOL and deleted the e-mail.
We all must be very careful.

FYI:
Got one from a sleeze claiming to be PayPal. Of course, the jerk sent it to an address that did not have a PayPal account.
As far as PayPal goes, when you get one of these phony emails.....just forward it to:
spoof@paypal.com
Then delete it. PayPal will never ask you to 'update' your information this way.

My daughter just used my Amex card to pay for something she bought on e-bay...through PayPal. Should I be concerned that one of these scammers will e-mail her at school for an "update" on the information?

This is a sample of the PayPal scam letter:
Dear PayPal member, > > We regret to inform you that your account is about to be expired in next five business days. To avoid suspension of your account you have to reactivate it by providing us with your personal information. > > To update your personal profile and continue using PayPal services you have to run the attached application to this email. Just run it and follow the instructions. > > IMPORTANT! If you ignore this alert, your account will be suspended in next five business days and you will not be able to use PayPal anymore. > > Thank you for using PayPal.
REMEMBER THIS IS A SCAM AND NOT FROM PAYPAL! DON'T FALL FOR IT!
Editing to add that many times these letters will have "official" PayPal logos. Ebay has similar scam letters that go out that look so real with professional verbage and appearance!

Thanks Marcie, of course when I called her to tell her to ignore such letters, she was rolling her eyes that I would think she didn't know this! Are we ever going to believe they can think for themselves?

JHP:
I am well above the age of consent. My parents are in their 80's.
To answer your question: No, parents never believe that their kids can completely think for themselves.
The way of the world, I guess.
Doug
PS: whenever you get an email asking you for private data, never go to the site suggested by the email. Close down everything. Then go to PayPal or eBay or wherever and ask them if the email is legit. A simple step that can prevent so much trouble.
