Suzie and Lee reporting from the Navigator!

We're here on the Navigator having a ball! The food is to die for, the drinks keep on coming and the staff is tremendous. I'm (Lee) suitably impressed and can't wait for my next Radisson adventure!

This is the first time we've had a chance to check in - we've been far too busy having fun!

We're here in Sydney today (but unfortunately it's closed) as the Captain decided it was far too rough to berth in Louisburg. The weather (until today) has been absolutely fantastic. Today is rather windy (bad hair day) and cold!

Last night we had 10-12 foot swells - just as well I didn't know that (Lee).

Suzy had mal de mar this morning (what was it she ate?) and is catching a cold! Marcie, is it your favourite drink that has Vitamin C in it?

Marcie, Suzie gave your message to Elda and Eden and a really sweet girl who remains namelss at this stage!

Sailing out of New York was unbelievable and we had lots of fun in Boston.

Bar Harbour and Halifax are really beautiful and we did the right thing and had a lobster lunch and dinner! We were the talk of the ship in our sparkling cocktail brooches and bright red lobster head gear!

The days have been so sunny and hot, Suzie and Marilyn have a tan!

There is a Captain who lives on the ship (unfortunately not Captain Dag) Captain Jablin who has retired from Raddison. Suzie is about to propose!

This message has arrived courtesy of Anthony and we'll check in again soon.

PLEASE SEND MONEY!!

Suzie and Lee

Susie and Lee, leave the ship in good shape for us, since we'll be getting on in Montreal when you get off. Seriously, we're looking forward to our cruise, and hope that we get good weather. What did you do in Sydney: stay on the ship or go the fortress of Louisbourg? (Joe)

What do you mean, cocktail brooch and lobster headgear? (Joan)

We hope the rest of the trip is great, and that there's no more mal de mer. Joe doesn't get it often; but Joan--watch out! She does get it.

Suzie and Lee reporting from the Navigator once again.

We've just been to the Portofino and are a 'bit the worst for wear' - too much Italian food! Nothing to do with the chocolate martinis and brandy alexanders!

Joan and Joe: We promise to leave the ship in good shape - don't know about the crew and the current passengers! Unfortunately, we were going to do our own thing in Louisbourg (sorry for the spelling in our last attempt) so when we came here instead, we decided just to have a quick look around and have a 'rest' day instead.

Of course, being a chocoholic, I (Lee) had to head for the chocoholic afternoon tea - I've never seen so much chocolate in one place at one time. I was very good and only had two dark chocolate dipped strawberries - yummy!

Our lobster headgear consisted of a red band with two lobster claws on each antenna - very classy! Our brooches are cocktail drinks which flash on and off. Unfortunately, I (Lee) took hers off when I was watching the show and somehow managed to demagnatise my shipboard card - good trick!

The singer on board is an Australian called Darren Williams. I'd never heard of him, so went along to see what he was like. I thought he was very good and then he happened to mention he had a show business father. I realised I used to scream and yell over him when I was about 15 as he was a well known rock and roll star in Australia! Just as well I was by myself as I really got into the swing of the show.

Karen: Suzie has 14 pairs of shoes, Marilyn has 11 and I have 4! Does that meet with your approval?

Tomorrow is Prince Edward Island and we are really looking forward to seeing this beautiful place. We haven't received any money orders to date - we are serous!! Better late than never! We don't want to become refuges in Quebec!

We will check in tomorrow (if we haven't anything better to do).

Suzie and Lee

Charlottestown, PEI was one of our favorite ports on the Cruise. We went to Green Gables (Ann of Green Gables) as our excursion. Beautiful, picturesque place. If you have a chance to go to the Prince Edward Island Preserves Company, they have wonderful jams. Their strawberry preserves with Grand Marnier is wonderful. I brought home jars of it (they sell it in 6-9-12 packs) and my luggage must have weighed a ton! I might have to even order some via internet!

Thanks for the seamail! Your fun just comes through your posts and I'm glad Lee that you're having such a good time! (we already knew that Suzie was going to have a blast!). Please keep checking in.

Darren Williams was on our NYC - Montreal cruise on the Navigator a few years ago. Are his leather pants any tighter than when we saw him? :D

Suzie and Lee, your seamail is, indeed great. What Joan wanted to know was where you got the brooch and headgear.

As for Louisbourg, did the ship offer alternative excursions when it became clear that you couldn't tender to Louisbourg? On our last (Wind Surf) cruise, an excursion in an alternative port turned out to be the highlight of our trip: we missed Corsica, but took an excursion from Villefranche to St. Paul de Vence. We, too, plan on doing Louisbourg on our own; but we'd certainly rather have a ship's excursion than miss it.

Have fun for the remainder of your trip, and a safe trip home!

This report is once again coming courtesy of Anthony!

Another Kathy: Michael is used to his mother embarrassing him! Michael and I will be going on a Radisson tour of Quebec city before staying at the Hilton for a couple of nights. Marilyn is playing golf and Suzie is planning to tag along with her.

Marcie: Doesn't sambucca have lots of Vitamin C in it? I thought that was why you drank it!! Suzie insists chocolate martinis have more in them but I think brandy alexanders do! Michael is a sweetie and will do anything to keep his mother happy (quiet)!! No one has offered to adopt him as yet!

Kathy: We missed the preserve company (we're sweet enough) but sure wish we'd bought the strawberry and marnier jam. Next time! Internet idea sounds great.

Pam: Suzie says hi! I do to!!

Masaki: Darren wore tight white jeans - just as good! Not as cute as his father was when he was his age!

Joe and Joan: The lobster headgear was bought in Boston. They didn't offer any alternatives to the tours, they just did the same but took longer.

Anne: Would you believe I haven't a clue who I saw at the US Open (at this stage of night) but I will fill you in when I get back to New York!

Betty K: This is Suzie - Hi and I will see you in January. Email me and I will fill you in.

We've ordered lobster again for tomorrow night, along with grand marnier souffle, just to get another wear out of the lobters and sparkly gear. Marilyn found another 'treat' - it is a special fork which extends if you see something you prefer to eat on someone else's plate! Great iidea. Radisson will never be the same - pity about the slump in re-bookings! ROAR watch out!

We've had dinner with the captain every night and before the cruise is over, we'll send a picture of us with him! The crew is quite impressed and Suzie sits next to him.

Michael became our chauffer today and we hired a minivan and drove around Prince Edward Island (the Blue Heron drive). It's a beautiful place but it was as windy as h... North Rustica Harbour was a mini-Peggy's Cove - just lovely. We then went to Anne of Green Gables house - just loved the mini-series of it.

We're cruising in the St Lawrence River tomorrow but the Captain has warned us we may have some rough seas during the night. I slept through the last lot, so here's hoping I do the same again tonight.

Until next time

Suzie, Marilyn and Lee

Thanks for your report.....but I really think you girls should loosen-up and try to have some fun! LOL

Suzie, I will e-mail you. I do, so wish we were on the cruise with you. I fear that ours will be rather dull in comparison.
Enjoy!!!!!!!

Is your Captain the young and handsome Norwegian Jarle?? He is doll - if you want to get a reaction ask him "Jarle have you put carpet in your bathroom yet?" He will explain.

he is indeed the Captain. He was on our Bermuda cruise. I believe that was his first week aboard.

I'm so happy y'all having such a great time. Your posts have been so much fun to read and as someone said, your happiness is coming through to the posts, I can almost hear you laughing and having fun. This is great!

I hope you feel better with your cold.

Enjoy Montreal, if you will be arriving today, it will be hot around 90F (30C) with a humidex of 37C or 98F, tomorrow (wed) it's supposed to be around 30C or 90F also. They are promising much cooler weather by the weekend (hopefully sooner.

Mrs. Moose, if the ship is arriving in Montreal today it's in real trouble: it's supposed to arrive on Friday morning, so we can board it on Friday afternoon. Any suggestions as to what to do near the pier? We're planning on going to some or all of the following: the basilica, Marche Bonsecours, Science Museum, St. Sulpice seminary (outside only?), Place d'Armes, the riverfront, and maybe the money museum at the Bank of Montreal. That's probably more than we can do.

Lee and Suzie, have the people from the Diamond arrived on the ship? Portofino's is supposed to become Don Vito's this month - has it happened yet?

I guess we won't get the lobster hats, since Boston is our last stop, not out first one.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

HI Joan and Joe,
LOL, wasn't sure when the ship was arriving but yes you would be in big trouble.
I live in the area of the cruise ship docks (walking distance easily) about 3 - 4 blocks from the Basillica.

Marche Bonsecours is very close to the docks as is the Basilica, Marche Bonsecours (about 2 blocks from my house) is sort of like a little indoor mall with boutique shops what I would call a walk through unless you want to shop.

As for the St. Suplice seminary, I don't remember that being here, I just called the hubby who is born and raised here and he seems to think that might be in Quebec City, unless you are talking about the Oratory which is really not near the cruise ship docks at all, but he said to ask if it's the Oratory as that is a really big tourist thing so I'm a bit confused on that one.

I also asked the hubby if he ever heard of the money museum at the Bank of Montreal (keep in mind he is in the money business, stockbroker) and he said no mabye also Quebec City as I had never heard of it but of course we could be wrong as you know the saying "you don't visit where you live".

There are a few museums in this area, a couple are "homes" that you visit to see the "way it was way back when", there is one other museum that is right near the docks, I think it's on architecture. The science museum from what I am told is more a child friendly thing, but I've not been so can't really say, just going on what I'm told, it's right at the docks though.

Depends on how much time you really have and what are the priorities of what you would like to see, perhaps if I had more of an idea of your likes ?

I'm not sure what you are expecting at Place d'Armes, it's a street here in Old Montreal, maybe the customs house? but don't know if that is open. You can walk along the riverfront if it's a nice day, it's a really nice stroll.

I hope you are not mixing Quebec City and Montreal.

If you have say 3 hours, and want to stay near the pier, I would go to the Basicllica, and walk around "Old Montreal" which is where the cruise ship docks, you can go into the Marche Bonsecours, there is another church located across the street (on the same side on a corner) which is popular with the tourists and has a bit of history regarding the sea. there is the "clock" which is also at the one end of the "pier" closer to the Marche Bonsecours side, If you go to City Hall and Place Jaques Cartier You will see the 2 "old homes" one is actually across the street from my condo, lol the other directly across from City Hall, and decide if you want to go in. City Hall is nice to see and you can go in and a lot of tourists take pictures of it. There is also a caleche ride you can take for an overview of Old Montreal which I would recommend and he will point out things which you can walk back to to see. Place Jaques Cartier is where there are cafes and generally have outdoor street performes in the summer and nice weather days.

Again, if you want to give me a little more of what you want (photo ops, museums, shopping?) Most of the stores are souvenier type shops with the odd one offering clothing and home things and one being a combo souvenier/fur shop on St. Paul.

I really hope this helps.

Thanks, Mrs. moose, for the prompt reply. On the other board (CC), in a thread thanking you for your Voyager review, I mentioned that I would post these questions on the CC Canada board, but now there's no need to do so.

No, I'm not confusing Quebec City with Montreal. Both the seminary (which is, I believe, not open to the public) and the money museum are listed in the Old Montreal Walking Tour # 1 on the Montreal e-guide, at http://www.moremontreal.com/eguide/oldmontreal/oldmontreal.html. The address of the money museum is 129 Rue Saint-Jacques.

Yes, we do want to stay near the pier. The Science museum is on our list since it's a freebie for us, courtesy of our membership in the Newark Museum. We may want to do something, however, that reflects more of the true Montreal. We were going to arrive tomorrow (Weds.), but had to cancel due to work deadlines; so we'll just have a few hours on Friday.

If you'd like to meet us on Friday, make a note on this board, and send us an email to Joanandjoe@vtmail.com. A cafe au lait together would be fun (or maybe you could help Joan buy something at the Marche Bonsecours)!

Ok I know the address of the money museum, you can walk maybe 5 - 10 min. Lol didn't even know it was there. As I said, you never visit your own backyard so to speak, I double checked with the hubby who was born here and he didn't know as I would never say anything for sure unless 100% positive.

I understand about the Science Musueum, and again as I said, I only went on what we heard from others, but that also could be misleading.

The Seminary, if you gave me the addy, I would certainly be able to help you in "location".

Ah I just remembered a place you might be referring to as to the "seminary". No it's not open to the public as far as I know. If I remeber correctly it's not far from the Basicllica either. I don't think of that as a "tourist site" that's why, but now that I'm sitting here pondering where this seiminary could be, it just dawned on me, lol. I didn't even know that it had a name, lol, silly stupid me Oh well, I just learned something in my own back yard, will have to check it out again.

The money museum will not be far from the Basillica, the science museum is right at the docks. The Marche Bonsecours will be about 4 - 5 blocks from the Bascillica.

I will send you an e-mail re meeting up if that's ok. Depending on times, it sounds lovely, but will discuss in private e-mail.

BTW, how are you arrving? Car, plane?

By plane, Mrs. Moose, arriving at YUL just before 10. We have an email on VT from Jean. Is that you? If so, we'll let this tread go back on point; and will respond to your email.

Back on point for the thread: Lee and Suzie, were you in Charlottetown or the Saguenay today? We hope that the river is beautiful, and that you have a great sail up the river. Do you pass the Perce rock?

Courtesy of Anthony - yet again!

We've had a shocking time trying to get through to you. The server was down all day yesterday and this morning we've been playing musical chairs trying to find a computer that works! This will probably be brief as the computer could 'die' at any moment!

We are now cruising through the Sagueny (?) River which has some beautiful scenery, port and starboard, storybook cottages (but not to Peggy's Cove standard).

Yesterday was a sea day and Suzie and Marilyn were showing off their beautiful bodies in their cossies! Yours truly had a long sleeve tracksuit and sneakers on! Suzie insists I don't post a photo of that bit of scenery.

We had lobster last night (I'm not admitting to how many shells I had left on my plate) and grand marnier souffle. We heard some disgruntled passengers on the next table who we guess will be having lobster tonight!

Marc: Unfortunately I'm not going on ROAR. Wish I could!

Betty: Photos are on the way and we will try to take your advice and loosen up! It will be hard to let our inhibitions down. If after this computer fiasco we have any computer time left, we will forward you the details.

Marcie: The fourth golden girl is Peggy but we've managed to pick up a stray, an 80 year old who used to live in England but now lives in Florida. She keeps getting breakfast delivered to her cabin but insists she's never filled out a form! Loved our photo - Suzie is Blanche, Marilyn is Rose, Peggy a much version of the one sitting (can't think of her name) and I'm Dorothy (because she's the only one left).

Ngaire: The Captain is the gorgeous Jarle. We'll ask about the carpet when next we see him. Suzie's in love with the doctor, who resembles Peter Sellers Inspector Clouseau (?).

Mrs Moose: We'll continue enjoying ourselves - thanks for the good wishes.

Marilyn is playing golf tomorrow in Quebec. Michael and I will be taking a tour, so hopefully we'll have something to report then.

Check back in later today and Karen should have some photos to post.

Suzie and Lee

Love your reports, Lee. You guys are having too much fun! I want to see a picture with the lobster headgear (we call those deely-boppers, don't know why).

Suzie,

Glad the minutes are going to good use and I thank you for your reports.

We had a number of days where the computers were down or so slow they were not worth the trouble.

Reporting from Quebec courtesy of Anthony.

We're having trouble with posting the photos. If these computers went any slower, they'd be going backwards! We've decided to leave the photos until we get back to New York and will send them from there. Hope everyone hasn't lost interest by then! Thanks for your help anyway Karen.

By the way, Suzie wore all 14 pair of her shoes and she wonders why I call her Suzie Centipede!

We ate far too much good food so have just had a wonderful walk around Quebec including a trip on the funicular. It's such a pretty city - we could be in Europe. We can't believe it's so warm here as we were freezing yesterday!

Tomorrow we're off on a whiz bang tour of Quebec and then it's nearly all over and that's so sad!

We will refresh your memories with our photos soon.

Forgot something!

"Our" captain who's been joining us for dinner each night is a cute little souvenir Suzie found in Peggy's Cove. You'll see his photo when we finally post it. They had another little guy which I loved and should have bought and he was in a yellow raincoat and hat. We're going to see if we can get some more off the web.

Tonight at dinner Suzie showed him to the captain who lives on board. We mentioned him in a previous post. Sadly, he recently lost his wife and is going through a bad time and he asked if he could keep him and naturally Suzie left him with him. We're all sure both will be happier now. We didn't tell him he'd gone head first into a drink last night!

Talk about idiots! Yesterday I was chatting to a guy in uniform about the weather and today they told me he was the real captain! I could have asked him your question about the carpet Ngaire, if I wasn't so ignorant! Convict stock you know! Hopefully, I'll see him on the tour of the bridge tomorrow and get a chance then - if of course I remember.

Signing off yet again.

Suzie and Lee

I love happy news! Your trip sounds so wonderful and so many great memories. Continued safe, healthy and happy travels.

On a Quebec City note, yes, it's much nicer than Montreal, the old city is much bigger and nicer than here, I'm so happy you enjoyed it.

We had a heat wave so yes, it's been unusually warm, but it's cooler today (cloudy and rainy) and will be cooler tomorrow as well.

Hi all! It's me Suzie and the gang has left me to golf and tour so I was a good girl and packed so now I'm free to jump on the computer.
Pam, I will mail you from home, it's been so hard to get on here and we are contantly timed out.
Having a wonderful time w/ perfect weather. I had lobsters sent home from Maine ( hoping there's some left when I return!) Quebec is most beautiful...I want to come back. I miss my Captain but he is in a better home and adopted by a REAL Captain. :mecry:
