We will be on the PG April 26- May 5. How important is it to book shore excursions ahead of time? What about the dinner reservations? Is there a restaurant that requires that? I sure hope this ship is everything I have heard. There have been some negative remarks, but we will have fun regardless. We have a balcony room and can't wait to sit and watch the islands.

I would suggest booking online before you go for the excursions you really want. They can always be canceled within the given time limit. Having been on all the Regent ships, I have to say that the PG is not so much the ship as the PLACE! You will have a great time!

Jhp is exactly right. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. Most people find the ship very nice indeed, with wonderful service. But the destination is the thing, and you can't go wrong there. Have a great time!

There are 2 reservation restaurants on the ship. You can either wait until you are on the ship or reserve prior online. The staff tries to make sure everyone has a chance to dine in each one. The poolside restaurant menu was not as good as one expected but all other food was great.

Le Grill, the semi-outdoor dining venue by the pool, is wonderfully romantic at night (great place for breakfast and lunch too.) The food is generally good, but has its ups and downs, for sure. Not up to L'Etoile, but generally pleasant and interesting.

We are also on that cruise along with friends of ours from Phoenix. It is our 40th anniversary and our first cruise with Regent. Just hope the fuel strike is over. Can hardly wait.

I do have some questions if someone would be so kind to answer. We are on the PG; and staying at the IC Tahiti before and the Sheraton Moorea after. This is the first time for us on Regence and in the South Pacific. Want to make sure we have what is necessary but not go overboard. Also if you have any other suggestions to make our trip perfect it would be appreciated.
First what is acceptable "casual dress" - are capris considered okay for evening wear?
Is there internet service and what does it cost?
Do I need to bring an iron? Do we need to bring a converter outlet?
Should we convert some cash before we go?
Thanks for any assistance.

Capris, nice ones, are definitely fine for dinner on the PG. Perhaps not other ships, but on the PG, yes.
You can't bring an iron, they don't allow them in rooms. You can have things pressed for a modest cost if you need it.
You can get a little cash at the airport when you arrive, or get some at an ATM in port, or even from the purser on the ship I believe. You don't need much, don't bother getting it in advance.
I believe, unfortunately, that the internet fees are pretty expensive.

I just looked at our invoice for our last PG cruise, and we paid $28.95 for internet. I believe that was for 100 minutes, if I remember correctly. We only used the public computers down in the internet room on deck 5, didn't bring our own. Hope this helps!

CAK we are also at IC Tahiti before and then Bora Bora after. It is our 30th anniversary and we can't believe it just a little over 2 weeks away. Hopefully we will run into you and Westiemom. See you soon.

Warning on the internet connection on the PG: it's painfully slow.

For those on the 4/26 cruise we definitely need to meet. I can hardly wait - we have been planning this for over a year. However now I hear that Air Tahiti Nui has a pilot strike going on - hopefully it won't affect us.

Just a suggestion. Have your group meet in the lounge at the back (stern) of the ship. Probably 2nd day works best. Maybe after the muster drill??

Does Regent still send out nice leather luggage tags with your documents? With a sharp eye at LAX we met several other people headed to our last cruise on the PG two days prior to the beginning of our cruise.
