Looks as if it's the same as 2007.

not going there right now - still so annoyed they offered on Regent website, when it first was announced, free pressing, MY tier and then said nooo sorry mistake - old tale but not happy -

Yes, I remember that Joanna, but remind me which tier you're talking about. I'm Silver (and will be perhaps forever), and I just check the website, and they do have complimentary pressing on formal/informal night. As I remember that boils down to a single garment, right?

For Silver, up to 2 garments, for Gold, an additional 2 more. Was previously unlimited pressing for Gold.

I still have the original tier program on my computer, in .pdf form. It definitely says "free pressing" for Gold, with no limitations. But that gets us nowhere. We are still silver, but that irritates me for the sake of the Gold members.

I am concerned about the varied Gold events my family has been offered compared to those I see during PANDA, post PANDA, and the recent Voyager events. We had "Cocktails in the Laundry" last July in Alaska and this June on the Navigator we had a sail-away on the bridge with the captain. These seem quite different from the luncheon at a hotel with revolved restaurant those on PANDA experienced or recent Voyager "Day in Rome". For some reason, we seem to get the bare-bones SSS events......

Beth-

Was there something special about the Cocktails? Were they served on freshly pressed napkins (Regent uses paper napkins though)? I don't understand how Regent thought this was a special event - Cocktails and Laundry (although sometimes I like a cocktail while doing laundry!). I can see doing a ship's behind the scenes tour where you go through the Laundry Room, and various other Ship's facilities like the kitchen, bridge, etc.

Actually I have heard this several times about the laundry so I thought I should chime in and tell you that some people honestly liked the laundry. They thought the idea of seeing an area like this that normally guests would not see was great. I remember one man calling me afterwards and saying he thought it was so creative.

I am sure the ship honestly thought this was a neat idea. It may have backfired on them for the majority of the guests but I do think the intent was to please.

I have seen these events be an early morning breakfast, to a shore event, to a special dinner at a restaurant. They are always different.

I think I would rather have something like the laundry idea rather than a boring cocktail party in a normal place!

I agree. I think it is kind of neat to be able to see parts of the ship that we normally do not get to see.
Heck I know I sure would like to see more of it than what I have already seen.

Ngaire, I agree!!!! I get sick of the fancy cocktail parties in the theater or whatever. I LOVE it when Regent tries something different! Two of my most favorite special parties (I can't remember now, but one was Amex Plat party, maybe the other the Gold/Plat event) were on TAP. First we were treated to a cocktail party in the Crew Bar. It was great! I felt so honored to have the chance to get a first hand look at how the crew lives when they are not working to serve us! A drink is a drink, but this was like a ticket you can't buy. Next, we had "afternoon tea" in the Crew Mess! The dessert layout was beautiful! I was taking pictures all over the place..... their computer section, their library. It was a thrill to me, but then I heard that SOME people were disappointed. Not me, for sure. I was hoping next time we would get to see the Officer's Mess. Now that's what I'd like to see, where they eat when they don't have to bother with US at their tables!

If Regent is listening, I would be HAPPY to see the laundry, as I am a very good customer of that part of the ship! Maybe I am just too nosey, but I enjoy getting behind the lines and seeing what goes on.

Todd, I don't remember freshly pressed napkins there. I, too, would like cocktails while I do my laundry.

Ngaire, Regent probably does think "Cocktails in the Laundry" to be a nice event. At least the Laundry Crew got a break for a few hours, though on duty, not in their normal heated environment.

Betty, Great idea. Sorry I didn't think of that. Next time I'll do that!!

RPM, When we had our Laundry visit, the equipment had been turned off for a few hours to cool down the room. The Crew looked delighted.

Olivia - the Amex tour on PANDA included the officer's mess. It's a mini-version of the tables in La Verandah.

I liked that event - even got to see my laundry on the "to be returned to the rightful owner" rack. The crew did seem pleased we'd come down to appreciate their work and enjoy a drink in their company. Not sure I'd want to do that particular trip every cruise, but nice for a change of pace. Anytime we merit the spontaneous smiles from our crew, it's a good thing IMHO.

Cheers, Anne

I think their idea of the laundry and the mess is very creative and I know I'd enjoy it. Though, I think I'd rather have free laundry service!

We had a Halloween Party in the Officers' Mess and it was a lot of fun. Our favorite special event was dinner in the kitchen. There was a table for six only and we could watch meal preparation. We ate with Captain Guillou and Chef Tobias and our best friends. Each night another group ate there with different people. Such a wonderful night.

I guess I missed the boat on PANDA with the Amex tour of the Officer's mess. Maybe they will have it on one of the segments of B2B.
