Kathy,
We're at bora Bora today. We stayed in Manhattan Beach in LA at the Springhill Suites. We rented a red convertible mustang and drove to all the tourist sites in LA. We had dinner both nights at Rock and Fish in Manhattan Beach. We really loved the town. It was quite beautiful.
We also saw the King Tut Exhibit while in LA. It was very interesting.

Hi Babs,
Glad you enjoyed your visit to LA. Hopefully, next time you can stay longer and visit with some LCT friends!
A red Mustang convertible is the only way to tour LA!
Denise
Retired and loving it!

I'm thinking of renting a car for our day in LA...did you have trouble navigating?
I driven in NY and NJ...and even with the old folks in FL...but LA makes me wonder.

Thanks Kathy...basically I'd be picking up the car at LAX around 11 am - taking Tom to the Hyatt in Long Beach...then back to the Tut Exhibit by 3 pm ....then back to the hotel.
Then the next day going to San Pedro to board the Navigator. All of this is on November 7-8 for our first leg of cruise. So think of LA traffic on Monday. Is it awful?
Also hoping I can drop car at Port, but I need to check that out if I decide to rent.
I can rent a car with the navigational systems, but sometimes those just mess me up.
The alternative is a car and driver for the day, but I thought if I rent a car I could find an "In & Out" too - got to try those burgers!!!!

Margo, when we boarded the Voyager last year there was no rental company we could find that had a drop-off at the Port of Los Angeles near Long Beach. We had to go and drop the car there, then get a cab to the port. Not too bad, but it would have been nicer if they had a rental agency there to handle things handily. Maybe they do by now.
If you have a lot of luggage, I suggest you go to the port first, drop your spouse and stuff, then take the car back. We didn't do that, as as we still haven't learned how to pack, we almost had to hire two cabs to bring all of our luggage to the poirt. Luckily, a van-taxi happened along, and was able to fit everything including us!
We envy you getting to see the Tut exhibit! We missed the first time too!
