so what are the odds Ngaire and LCT will be invited to the maiden voyage?? We would certainly fill that ship up in no time!

The Apollo Group now owns Oceania....which might mean a merger - Oceania has an order for two or three (not sure of the number) new ships.

There are serious negotiations in progress( final stages ) for Regent to be bought out by a financial firm( rumored to be The Apollo Group ). Regent doesn't have the necessary capital available to put a new ship on the ways and Mrs. Carlson apparently wants out. If the buyout goes through Regent will have a new ship of the Voyager class by 2010. Silversea already has a new ship under construction and Seabourn has 2. Regent needs the new ship in order to stay competetive. Also got some info that was of great interest regarding smoking, but I'm not going to post it on LCT. If any of you smokers want more info on that you can e-mail me at dougburns1@cox.net. In light of what they're now saying about gold points, this might not be only rumor.

How about "Horizon"? It doesn't have an "er" and they would need to change the name of some of thier lounges (on the non-Horizon ships) but something to consider....Maybe because I am in the Horizon Lounge in my hotel right now, I have Horizon on the brain!

Janice, I think Horizon is a really good one! I wonder if we have hit upon the actual name to be yet?

How about "Seven Seas Luxury" then we'd all be sailing in luxury. I wonder if they will invite Platinum & Titaniums for the shakedown cruise... Jim

We, too! Packed and ready to go at a moments notice.
Doesn't matter what the name of the new ship is - as long as it's Regent!

Wanderer suits me, since it's my online personna!
I just wish I was Platinum so they would offer me a free shakedown cruise. We'll still be Silver (barely) after our 14-day PG next year.

It would be great if Regent would include varied tier level Society members in a shakedown, besides those who have reached the upper rung. I think this would offer a more balanced perspective, as well as wonderful opportunity for many Society members, regardless of tier level.
We can all dream about receiving a "golden ticket," can't we? :)

I agree Denise - that way some of the lower levels would really be hooked. I remember seeing a video about the Voyager shakdown running when we were on Navigator. One of the questions asked of Mark Conroy in the video was "how can RSSC aford to offer a free cruise to 700 people?" And his reply was "well we wanted to thank many of our loyal supporters, but we got an unexpected benefit, in that every single passenger onboard booked something else while on". thought that was very interesting. Of course the Titanium and Platinum levels are obviously long term cruisers, and I would think they would certainly get first priority, but maybe they will find some room for some of the lower levels. Aaahhhh to dream of getting that "golden ticket", I'm with you there Denise! <img src="http://smileys.sm...53Fi%253D7%252F7_6_4/image.gif">

Regent has enough for a full ship just from us on LCT! I am sure we'd all book another cruise if they invited us!

Invite us! We'd all go and probably end up booking future cruises while on board. What if we promise to book another? Now, can we get an invitation? :lct:

I'm late to this thread - and maybe someone else has already suggested it, the name of one of Capt. James Cooks ships - and also used for a modern space vehicle - Seven Seas Endeavour :)

OK,
I saw Karen's thread title and got excited. However, I have yet to find the original thread to which she refered.
My skills using the search function must be lacking.
But a new ship sounds quite exciting.
By the way, I vote for the afore mentioned Seven Seas Endeavor.
