We had such a nice time in Phoenix that we were sad to have the party break up. After a week of non-stop family events, my nephew and his lovely fiance tied the knot at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Papago Park on Saturday night, just as the sun was going down. His father is Chinese and that side of the family hosted a wonderful dim sum yesterday morning, which we attended on our way to catch our flight to LA.

So we are now comfortably ensconsed in our hotel, just biding our time until we sail tomorrow. We have King Tut tickets for today. It's a warm, mild day here in southern California and the smell of the ocean is really getting me in the mood to get on that ship!

Marsha, I like these pre cruise seamail reports! I hope your connection is good so we can read many more from you and Margo!

We went to the King Tut exhibit in LA about 2 months ago. If you have any specific questions I will be happy to answer them for you. I will say that overall we enjoyed it. (It is not the same exhibit that toured the USA in 1976, though.)

We went to the LA Tut Exhibit about two weeks ago and enjoyed it. We had tickets for a Sunday at 9:00 AM. No big crowds. We were able to see everything very well and take our time. I think LACMA has resolved the crowd-control problems that were experienced when the exhibit first opened.

Thanks - I saw the exhibit in 1976 as well - with my then 10 year old son. We have tickets for it in FT Lauderdale and expect to enjoy seeing what ever there is.

We've been to the museum in Cairo - years ago -and although it obviously has much more to see, everything is as badly displayed as any museum I've been to. I was told to bring a flash light which was excellent advise.

There is a stop/shore excursion to Cairo on the 2007 World Cruise . . . .

We're looking forward to the new King Tut exhibit!

According to RSSC's website through My Cruises/Request Excursions, there is an overnight excursion to Cairo on 2006's WC also. We thought the exhibit was very well displayed in LA and would highly recommend the audioguides!

The trip sounds wonderful . . . the "Sound and Light" was fantastic . . and the museum has wonderful things to see. The light is terrible and what is sad is that much of what is shown - not the stone things obviously - are deteriorating b/c there is no air conditioning. I would still suggest a flash light.

Marsha....I just got back to our hotel...I was at the King Tut exhibit this afternoon - with what seemed like hundreds of school children.

I must admit that it was a bit hard to see some of the objects, or even hear yourself think!!! But the exhibit was amazing and then I went over to see the Cezzane Pissarro exhibit - it was wonderful and blissfully quiet.

Only real problem was getting a cab back to the hotel - the driver who was suppose to pick me up didn't show up and it took almost an hour to get another cab. The staff at the museum were terrific, even sent a security guard to wait with me after they made the second phone call to find out where the driver was. Thank goodness we decided to stay in Beverly Hills, I was back before Tom had a heart attack....it gets dark here a little earlier than in Florida.

Sorry your overall experience viewing the Tut exhibit was disrupted with so much activity. The exhibit is wonderful and I'm glad you enjoyed it despite the noise and viewing difficulties.

I was also happy to hear that you found the Cezanne Pissaro exhibit to your liking. We're going in a few weeks and are really looking forward to it.

You chose the perfect location, staying within Beverly Hills. Very close to LACMA.

We also saw the King Tut exhibit before our PG cruise. It was very interesting. Lucky for us there were no school classes that day! Have a great cruise.

My Tom came home from work all excited yesterday to say that he saw the Navigator in the San Diego Harbor (he works downtown & lucky him gets to see cruise ships all the time!). I got so excited too, just thinking about it. I told him that it was on its way to L.A. to start the exciting voyage to Sydney and then on to French Polynesia. Boy do I wish we were on board.

According to my clock, I think just about now the gangway has been pulled in and they are all up on deck with muster over and a sailaway party underway. Have a great time Margo and Tom, Marsha and George!

I think 26 days would be a perfect introduction to longer voyages, they have 6 relaxing sea days ahead of them, and when (at least) Margo and Tom get home, no 15 hour ordeal from Europe with multiple flights! And no cooking the big bird on T-Day!
