Macy--

Unfortunately, no.

Editing to add: Now I'm not sure of the answer. If you can sign for chips on your shipboard account (don't know if you can do this either) then this would accomplish the same thing, right?

Good question!
Bill

No, you can't get chips exactly. I believe you can get chips put on your shipboard account and then at the end of the cruise, depending upon your shipboard credit, will cancel this charge out.

I didn't check when we were on Voyager in December. But when we were on Mariner (when she was VERY new) for Alaska, you couldn't put casino chips on your shipboard account.

(Should have waited to post)

I would not think you could because it would be like a cash advance on a credit card and RSSC pays 1-4% for accepting credit cards (merchant fee)

Kathy:

You can get $400 per person per week cash advance on your room. I do it each cruise to get the skymiles and then deposit the cash back into the bank when I get home.

Marc, I was waiting for you to chime in, as I thought you had mentioned before that you can get cash. So in a sense, you CAN use your credits for chips, just turn them into cash first. And get miles to boot. A no loser, unless you lose at the tables with those chips.

Marc, is correct. This is what my husband did on VOF but he got chips at the casino instead of cash. This isn't charged as a cash advance with those astronomical fees...just figured in at the end of the week like any other charges.

HOWEVER, you cannot use your Amex and TA credits for this. This is an additional charge. Shipboard credit that you received as a gift can be used for this.

Aha, now I understand. Thanks Marc, for the clarification, as I think I was misleading in my former post. First you must spend your credits on excursions, spa, etc. Then you can avoid that ATM charge by getting cash from reception instead. Still get miles, though, as it is on your bill at the end.

Marcie, can you imagine what your bill will be after over 100 days at sea? My attitude would be, "I'll think about it when I get home, but today I really need that massage since we are at sea and there is nothing better to do."

Oh dear!! ...I can see just that happening. I forget what our shipboard credit is (I think somewhere in the area of $1,500.?) plus we'll get the AmEx $300. The GOOD news is that quite a few excursions are complimentary and there will be no bar bill (all inclusive). Still....I guess we'll have to really pace ourselves, maybe a weekly allowance!

OK, dumb question. I did get the Amex shipboard credit of $300 (thanks to spotting something on this board), but how do you get more? Where did you get $1500 of credit?
