Diane, have you confirmed with them that it is 100% for that cruise? On their website in the "specials" section, it is only showing cruises with reduced single sups through May. Maybe it will be added, since they have just put so many cruises out there?

Yes, the lovely Linda confirmed for me. If it is added, I will jump on it but otherwise....

I don't get angry often, but I am now

I may be naive but I don't know how they can charge you 100$ single suplement when taxes, airfare, and shore excursions are included. I think it would be illegal to charge you double port taxes (which are pass through charges from ports) and airfare.

These 100% single supplements are terrible! I'm going off to check Alaska 2011....hmm, guess they're not published yet. Guess I'll ask B&K.

I think Marc they know what the taxes and airfares are, so can adjust that part and charge the 100% on the cruise portion, plus add the taxes once and airfare once. Not sure on that, but many cruise lines do charge 100% single supplement, some don't, and in some cases it depends on the cabin category you want. Not justifying it in any way, as I personally think that is a lot and tends to discourage singles from traveling -- just adding my two cents worth about the taxes and such.

Here's just a couple of thoughts I have....

1. Since there seem to be a few of you singles who "know" each other from here, why don't you think about rooming together and then the single supplement is no longer an issue

and 2. Why don't some of you look again at the 1/11/11 FLL to Lima Mariner cruise through the Panama Canal so that I can finally get a chance to meet some of you in person :D

For me, I need space (not literally). My poor sister suffers through this with me, for which I am grateful. With penguins 12/10 (only a little ssupp), and my sister doing Roar, 1/11 wouldn't work anyway. Good ideas though.

Somehow I will meet all you guys. I guess it will just take me longer to do so.

JoAnn, Marc is right about the 100% single supplement for excursions, singles pay twice for those with 100% single supplement. Air is adjusted, and singles are not paying twice for port charges. Been there done that many times. It's discouraging to pay for what you don't use even at their bargain rate 50% supplements over what couples pay.

Seabourn and Silversea also have stiff single supps, no doubt about it, but then they have some that are better than the now "bottom" 50% Regent is charging even on special. At least they used to when I really looked. I hope Regent changes this policy. Funny that just last year, they were offering 30% single supps on some pretty attractive cruises. Perhaps they are doing so well, they might not have to!

There are not many of us on this board who need to worry about this. But Regent (or the powers that be at Apollo and Prestige) need to know how badly it feels to those of us who have been long time cruisers on this line, giving them our loyalty and business when times were different, to see a 60% increase in fares in the space of a year. I hardly think this is a Mark Conroy idea. Just doesn't sound like his MO to me.
