On the RSSC forum on CC, someone has posted today in the "Regent should now include drinks on board" thread, claiming to be a Regent res agent and giving some interesting info about the ships. Doesn't it seem a bit peculiar that Regent would allow (or not prohibit) its agents from making such comments, even when the comments are positive. It makes him almost seem like an informal spokesman for the line. He also appears to not be a native English speaker - some of his grammar is odd; and he skips a lot of punctuation. (Of course, Ngaire skips a lot of punctuation, too; and she is kind of a native English speaker, if one can count New Zealand and Texas as anglophone locations.) In any event, doesn't it seem strange that a Regent employee would comment openly on these boards? Cheers, Fred (a more-or-less native English speaker, if Montana counts)

PS - I mentioned the non-native English speaking issue because it would worry me if a res agent did not have a very good grasp of the language. Yikes, it would be like dealing with the Bombay (oops, Mumbai) tech support people for Dell, Dish TV, HP, etc. Now that is scary, no?? One could end up with a cruise to New England when one wished to sail to Olde England.

Actually, JoAnn, Valley Speak was really born in Manhattan Beach, but, we had the Galleria!

I find the fact that there is a Regent agent on CC very strange, and I'm not sure that he isn't an imposter. If I was at the head of Regent cruise lines I sure would not want a reservation agent representing the line. Also why has he only posted on CC and not here with us.........

Host Dan, who oversees the CC Regent boards, has posted, asking this person to email him directly, as he has a question to ask him/her. He's suspicious, as well.

It was the grammar and punctuation that caught my eye, and my first thought was that English was not the native tongue. I don't pay attention to that if it is just a regular poster (Lord know I make my share of mistakes), but an agent for Regent? Pretty risky for them to put a person out there as official spokesperson. Smells funny.

Fred, my father was born on a ranch in the total absolute sticks outside of Kremlin MT. He certainly considered himself a native born English speaker. Now, my mother, who was born in North Dakota, well, that is another story. ;)

But that Anichini thing, well that was really good news if it was true. Check out the website. I LOVE good linens. After all, you spend at least a third of your life in that bed!

Will have to check out Anichini, Olivia. In the meantime, I'm just living with my 50 thread count sheet and pillowcase from Big Lots. No sheetsets, just a flat sheet and pillowcase. Not only does it cover the bed and pillow, you can exfolliate your body while you sleep! Sleep multi-tasking!

If I buy those Anchini linens, we will will have to skip our next two cruises :mecry: or mortgage the house. (Oh do I LOVE those good linens)

You should not shop at WalMart. It is the destroyer of small town economies, not to mention that it encourages obesity - you do understand that the guy at the front door is charged with the duty to be sure that the ratio of obese to normal patrons remains at least a ratio of 2-to-1, and he gets a bonus if the obese patrons are wearing the torn-at-the-shoulder sweatshirts from Flash Dance (even though that "fashion" passed about ten years ago and really only looked good on Jennifer Beals in the first place).

Res Agent, since his English is much more proficient, however much his message may be somewhat over the edge. I suspect that the poster is probably a maverick agent of Carnivore trying to ingratiate himself with his evil employers by infiltrating the intimate threads of Regent. We must be vigilant to protect ourselves from the "Invasion of the Mass-Market Lines". After all, we must retain our illusion of being just the most elite cruisers.

Lordie, I am risking becoming as cynical as my posts, am I not??

I saw this too, and asked him if he was doing this in any "official" capacity. No response. It'll be interesting to see what transpires. Despite the positive bent, the posts came across to me as so unprofessional, I can't imagine anyone at Regent would be sanctioning this. My money is on this person just quietly disappearing...meaning, just never posting again.

I see five posts by resagent and it seems to be accurate but commonly known information. We all saw a representation of the new stacks earlier this month. I think I've heard purple mentioned as the color and that seems logical as black is a rather common stack color and purple is the color most associated with royalty (Regent). It would be nice to have an official represntative on the boards. On Timeshare Users Group there was a board for each of the two major exchange companies with company reps answering questions. One dropped out due to the volume of complaints and abuse and the board closed down. The other is still going. On my cable tv board,a senior tech official of my cable company occasionally answers technical questions or addresses problems. One of my posts resulted in him sending an installation supervisor to my house to clean up my signal. So,having company reps on boards is a mixed bag.

The thing is, I've been on CC for years and I've NEVER seen an "official" representative of a cruiseline posting on the boards in this manner. I've seen "official" information from a cruiseline posted by a CC person such as LauraS, and I've seen former cruiseline employees posting. I've even seen a couple people who said they were current employees posting incognito! But I've yet to see any of the cruiselines designate a person to represent the company just in regular posts on the boards.

Even if that did happen, I would expect that the posts would be HIGHLY polished and professional, which IMO those posts are not. IF by some outlandish (highly unlikely) chance they really ARE officially sanctioned, let me state right here that Regent needs to find someone else for the job!

And besides, like others said, wouldn't they put someone HERE first?? Hey, we're the one place they KNOW they won't get abused! Wouldn't they show US the love first? :D

LeeAnne - Perhaps RSSC Marketing (which we all know is an impeccably clever, organized and disciplined department, as witnessed by the splendid job they did in creating and communicating the new passenger loyalty program) is behind this Res Agent caper.
