We booked a cruise with SS onboard and paid our deposit and balance with Amex platinum. SS is refusing to give us our onboard Amex credit due to the fact we used an onboard booking discount, hence the booking wasn’t paid in full with Amex. This is our 5th cruise with SS and this has never happened before. Have any of you had this issue?

I understand why you feel AMX should be applicable since all the payments were made on the AMX card. However we find it rare now to be able to get the AMX applied to a cruise.

Any kind of discount, special or other SBC then AMX is not combinable. Very rarely are we able to apply AMX. Most cruises have a benefit that cannot be combined with AMX

Many are cancelling AMX card in favor of another card. Popular now is the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Triple points for travel and restaurants and a Chase air booking engine that covers many airlines.

Libby, I only use my Amex Plat anymore for booking paid air as you get 5x points per $. For cruises use my Chase Reserve always for those 3x bonus points for cruises
Over 1x for travel is always good!

Have to admit; I try once on booking free air in biz on my own for cruises, to get a good credit from price. can rarely find, so Then I and turn to one points guy or another for a quote for my free air. Has worked for me. I’m willing to pay their fee.
