I am arriving on the 24th, no air reservations yet, staying at the Grand Surfside West side of the complex. As I live on the water and see it every day, no big deal to be waterfront. But yes, Texans may love it!

As time nears, we can see who's coming in a day early on the 24th since we are such a big group! Really looking forward to this crossing and the leg that lies beyond, haven't been to the Med in a few years,

Guess you'll start the partying without Tom and me. We're on a AA non-stop from LAX on the 24th and land at 6:40pm (we're at Grand Surfside West).

Jan and I will be there Olivia. We arrive the 23rd.

Joan and I are also coming in later on the 24th. We fly out of San Diego at the crack of dawn and connect in LA to the same flight as Tom and Marcie. We arrive in Miami at 6:40 pm.

That's great Dave! Maybe there's a large enough Uber SUV or ? for all 4 of us and luggage to get to the Surfside West.

I'm sure we will find a suitable vehicle.

Is anyone thinking about staying in Venice a night or two post cruise? I spent a week there years ago on a land trip back in the 80's, and a few days before a bus trip in the 90's,

Don't need to do again, but it's a beautiful city. As I remember, the place we docked last time I was on a cruise didn't involve water taxi, just a cab to get to the airport.

Every time I have been in Venice we are docked where a regular taxi can take you to the ship or to the airport on debarkation. No need for a water taxi at all. Just the hotels where there are no roads the water taxi is necessary.

Venice if fun but we are heading straight back at the end of the cruise.

Olivia - the Dreyfus's and we are planning one extra night post cruise. Have been looking at some hotel possibilities, don't want to use the Regent one, and we will then probably do our own transfers ship to hotel and then to airport. Jill Glanville might be doing it also. We only just decided this a couple of weeks ago. Using Regent air, so will have to do the deviation.

Thanks Pat, should have asked for some suggestions of nice, but not overpriced hotels as so many are. I have always wanted to stay at the Westin Regina Europa, but the least expensive rooms seem to run over $500 per night (although that is a bargin compared to the Regent Hotel whichis $547 per PERSON for one night, and is the JWMarriott across the lagoon, the old Hilton). Will check it out. Using a water taxi is fine, as we will be able to split the cost and would be a fun way to get to the hotel.

JoAnn, I just heard from my daughter that the place we stayed in Venice several years ago on our land trip was the Hotel Danieli. We took a water taxi straight from the airport to the back door of the hotel, so no schlepping of luggage at all, a plus after a long cruise, since you would be staying at the end. It was old and lovely, right on the grand canal, and had a rooftop restaurant where we had a great dinner overlooking the Canal. You might want to Google it, it was very close to St. Mark's square, and we walked everywhere. (I have no recollection where I stayed in the 80's.)

If I were only staying for one night, I would not want to stay across a "lagoon" if you are talking about the grand canal. At that price for the Regent hotel per person, you certainly can do better, even with the cost of a shared water taxi with your friends!

I would concur on the Hotel Danieli!! Stayed there a few nights back in 2007 it was great!! The water taxi to the hotel and then to the airport is Painless!!

YAY, Regent air done, exact flights we wanted. Hotel booked for the 19th, Londra Palace. Now just have to wait for Jet Blue to open up March so I can book our flight to FLL.

I was just going to post that we have our Regent Air booked
and with great seat assignments on 10:10 am Lufthansa VCE to FRA , 1:25 pm FRA to DEN arrive 3:35 pm
Now we need to book our United 6:00 am flights BIL to MIA on March23rd and April 19th 7:00 pm flight return DEN to BIL.
Checked www.seatguru.com and everything is OK. Well for now anyway.

We're using Regent Air one way from BCN to LAX and we too are very happy with our AA, BCN-JFK-LAX flight (though it shows as pending).

I was afraid we'd get stuck on a BA and the TERRIBLE jigsaw seating we recently experienced.

Return air booked! Great itinerary...BCN to PHL to SFO, all on AA, business/first all the way home.

We just made our reservations on United and got the flights we wanted BIL to MIA on the 23rd and DEN to BIL on the return the 19th.
Now on to booking hotel reservations in BIL the 22nd and night of the 19th.

BTW for those staying over in Venice a night or two, we found a great Sr rate at the Londra Palace, 380 euro for a classic room. Its a very nice hotel, 4 or 5 star and in a great location.
