Those stripes are the colors on the South African Flag. I like it too.

What a beautiful pin, LOVE it ! So sorry we cancelled ZEBRA but Antarctica was calling our name , just can't do them all. I can't find the roll call ? but know everyone will have a wonderful time, loaded with good sightings, beautiful accommodations and great memories.

June and I picked up our ZEBRA docs when in Long Beach over the weekend. Really getting excited about our first safari together.
We are so excited to see so many good friends again on safari. The stay at Birkenhead is also a treat we are looking forward to. The shark excursion and the excursion to the local wild animal reserve is something we signed up for. AND the food at Birkenhead WOW. and then to La Residence how good can it get. Actually it gets better at La Residence if you can imagine that. The setting is just outstanding a somewhat romantic. !!!!
June and I just talked about being able to share this wonderful trip with our good friends Chris and Lynette Howell who we are sure will be blown away by their first trip to Birkenhead and the safari's.
What fun to be able to do these trips .
A HUGE thank you to Ngaire and the staff for all the effort organizing these adventures. It must take hours and hours of work for many people.

Wonderful surprise on my porch last evening--Zebra package. The Zebra pins are super cute. Now we just are waiting to get George's passport back. It did not have 6 months left on it. He sent it off last week. And I have to figure out how to get his global entry linked to this passport. I think we have to take it to the global entry office at DFW, but not sure. We do have some time to work that out, and he goes to Dallas at least a couple of times a month.

Still doc-less in Alabama. We can't wait for this trip; it has been nine years since we have been on safari. We are so looking forward to good friends, good wine, good meat, and good animal viewing (hopefully all at the same time if we finally get to see a kill ). See everyone soon!!!!

Got our docs yesterday! Didn't find the pins in all the goodies. Not sure if they weren't there or if I threw them out with all the tissue paper? Last time we were on Safari was 2011 and that trip was life-altering great. We are so excited to return and see some old friends and meet some new ones! ---------------- Helen

Oh no, Helen! The pins were Zebra paper wrapped in a small, flat packet approx 3"x3". We are getting super excited about the trip, too! It'll be so great to see you, Jerry, Barbara and Fred again. It's just over 3 years ago since Nile 2; And 1 year ago since we were on PAGODA with Kate and Dick, Jack and Laurie, and Jim and Jill. We are really looking forward to finally traveling with Rachel and George! P.S. Oh, and it will be nice to see Ken and Ngaire again, too!

Helen not to worry you may have missed that little packet. I have a ton of pins I am bringing for the staff at all the lodges - easy fix.

Thanks for the info, Kim, on global entry renewal. George will be at DFW at least 4 times before the safari, but it is sure easier if I do it online rather than leave it to him and his own devices. With him, showing up at that office would probably get him on some terrorist watch list or something. Can't wait to see everyone!

Found the pins! Lucky for me we only had one bag of trash to go thru Anybody ever been to Gold restaurant in Capetown? It has a prix fixe dinner of various African dishes and the wait staff is in native outfits. There is african dancing and drumming during dinner. We are also looking at joining the optional drum lesson before dinner. Sounds like fun. Anybody been there/ done that? ----------------- Helen

I did not know where the Gold Restaurant was located. I just worry about people going downtown at night.
However this is very close to the waterfront. Just be sure to get a taxi back do not walk it at night. I would walk at night in certain areas of Dallas either!
