If you stay at the Westin Stonebriar Hotel (go to www.spg.com ) there is a birthday promotional rate.

It's called the "payage" promo rate. You pay $109. the first night and than your birth year (minus the 19) the next night or two. The maximum stay is 3 nights for this promotional so it seems to work perfect for HEE HAW October 19-22. Your invoice will say $109. per night but the rate is adjusted at check in with proper ID. You can cancel up to 24 hours ahead so nothing to lose by booking now.

Have not looked at flights but Tony a caged animal without a car - told him shuttle provided by hotel he told me to tell someone who cares - once we know flights and that may not be for some time perhaps we can share -

Whatever anyone decides regarding Rental cars make Sure you get the transponder for the Toll Roads for Dallas.. They do not Take Cash, Which is Illegal by the way and the fines are $25 a Pop if you go through... got hit with a bunch of those after the fool at Thrifty told me I did not need a transponder because I was not going to go on any toll roads..

Not sure if everyone got the emails but SPG starting March 1st just came out with a bunch of new Perks for Gold and Platinum members. I know most are Gold because of Amex Platinum so when anyone has a chance check out SPG.com and take a look.... Some good stuff and now they offer Lifetime Status for Gold and Plats..

Not to sound ignorant but I'm a AMEX Platinum but I don't have a SPG card. Do I need to apply for this or do I have it automatically?

Mark I think you need a seperate Starwood account. We have both. I think many of the LCT'ers have a Starwood AMEX Platinum card and that was what Frank was referring to. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

But I found the birthday rate, wasn't real easy, you have to pull up the hotel and go to offers and scroll down a few, and we used our AMEX platinum card for the CC to be used.

If you had the Plat Amex the one that costs $400 per year you have automatic SPG Gold, you just have to call Amex and link your SPG account.

If you have SPG Amex personal or business, I believe you get SPG Plus which still give you some benefits.

If you're having any trouble booking on line, you can call Westin Reservations at 1-800-228-3000. Just tell them you want the "perage" rate at Westin Stonebriar.

Hi Mark and Cheron. Getting Starwood Gold status is a two step process. You call AMEX Platinum and ask for the code for Starwood. It's usually two letters.

Then you set up an SPG account either on line or on the phone, call SPG with the code and they will give you Gold status.

Starwood doesn't know that you have an AMEX Platinum card. You have to call and give them the code. Tom.

Thanks for this information Tom. I just called Amex Plat number, and rather than give a code, they now just call Starwood and turn you over to them, take your SPG number, and it's done (provided you have a membership number).

Yes Olivia, we just did this today and that is exactly what happened. Once set up we had an email from SPG congratulating Frank on his new gold status. Hope they send an Gold card too. LOL.

My mistake was I called the number shown on the Platinum Rewards thing and got some guy who had no clue, so he turned me over to Starwood and that lady actually sort of knew what the deal was, but said we had to call the Platinum Services number, which I then had to find, but when all was said and done, it was done.

"Whine" time!!!! LOL.

editing to add - we too are booked for three nights from Friday to Monday, but......not doing air yet, as Frank is really interested in the golf possibility so eaiting to see when that will be.

Thanks for the tip about the birthday rate, Marcie. We're staying four nights (10/18 - 10/22). For the fourth night I found a package called something like SPG Plus Breakfast Package, which costs about $133 for a room and buffet breakfast.
