Seems so odd, to me, that no one has posted about this trip.
I know some of you are on this one.

Given what's going on with air travel, etc..... anything we can share can only smooth our trips. & frankly, I think that our trips will need smoothing (given what the bad guys have done.)

But let's talk about the trip, too.

So? Who is coming?

Doug

Carol and I are coming. Using Air France from LAX via CDG. Very much looking forward to it. Bought extra sd cards for the camera. Ready to go.

Ray and I are also coming via British Air...unfortunately our flight arrives in Cairo just before midnight...yuck...god,they better be there to meet us and take us to the hotel.

Is there a master list of who are going? Want to start one Ralph? Doug?

This time next month we'll be in London, Oh by the way,it will be my 39th birthday again,hint hint, better make sure I'm wearing something green.

Jim and I are coming. Also via BA through London and also arriving just before midnight in Cairo.

Reading up on Egyptian history so I have a few clues before the touring starts.

We are arriving the day before...direct flight from JFK ...but we have to go on Delta. We are doing post to Petra and then a day and a half at the Kempinski at the Dead Sea for R&R since our flight was cancelled and postponed one day. We have a direct flight to JFK.

Thank you for starting a roll call. Suggest you do something so it is in the title and goes to the top. Add our friends Dave and Mary Elaine. They do not post much on lct but are going and I know they are ok with me adding to the roll call.

Ray and I are also doing Petra and are flying home via London on April 4th from Cairo.

We were in Egypt (at the same time of year) back in 2005 and loved it. The Valley of the Kings is extremly hot, thank god they had "cooling stations". I had extra water but had to use it on an elderly woman who wore a track suit made of polyester blend who was almost in heat prostration.

This time I'm also bringing one of those little fans and I dont care if it looks "Dorky"...as long as it cools me.

Will soon be counting the days instead of the weeks.

Mark and I were talking today about "dress code", if any. Will we be expected to dress up for the dinners that are in a home and on yachts?

I was wondering about temps for that time of year, too.

Your dress code question is a good one. Maybe Ngaire can chime in with a thought or two.

I was not planning on taking a sport coat.

All the paperwork should be coming out to everyone directly from Ker & Downey shortly. This will have all the information on dress codes not sure about some of the special events we have planned since K&D planned these. I would imagine no coat would be necessary.

Carla and I will be coming in on Delta through JFK, I gave us like a 4 hour layover to hopefully solve any JFK delay issues... That airport always makes me nervous when it comes to conncections....

What day and flight will you be arriving on Delta? We are taking Delta too.

We are on Delta out of JFK, too. On 3/17, flight 84, departing at 10:50 pm and getting in at 3:45 pm

We arrive on LH via Washington to Frankfurt to Cairo arriving about 6:40 pm on the 19th. We have already done Petra so we are going on to South Africa to do 3 game camps. Pam and Jim

Mark and I will be traveling on LH from Chicago/Frankfurt/Cair arriving at 3:05PM on 3/19. We would love to hear any suggestions from others who have previously traveled to Egypt. Can't beleive it is less than 2 months!

Thought all you NILERS might br interested to know that I spent yesterday at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO to us) viewing the Tutankhamun Exhibit.
Talk about getting your juises all revedup for our exciting NILE tour.Also encluded were artifacts from the other Pharoes.
Tut was here 30 years ago and I ended up going twice to it as well as doing 6 weeks of dinner lectures.In 2005 we visted Cairo and Luxur when we did the Suez Canal with Crystal.
We vowed that "we would return"...shades of Douglas MacCarthur.

Well I guess Mark and I will be in Frankfurt longer than expected(5 hours and 40 mins)due to a time change. We will now be arriving in Cairo on the 19th at 6:40PM.

Hi Cheron, Glad to see everyone getting excited about NILE. The documents should be arriving in a couple of weeks or so.

Time to start thinking clothes,LOL.

Bring cards Cheron I know Mark likes Pooch and Jim and Pam play also. After all, it was Jim who came up with "under a dress". We have spend many an hour waiting for planes playing pooch it helps pass the time. Need a score pad I will send you one. I remember coming back from Antarctica we gathered in one of the lounges and filled in about 8 hours it just flew by.

Ditto in Joberg with the "Master & Mistress" of POOCH.... three handed stud,errrr pooch.

OK, I guess I really need to learn this pooch game.

Actually, do you have any suggestions on what to pack for clothes? We aren't sure what to pack.

Ker & Downey will have a packing list with your tickets.

My advice as little as possible lots of moving around. Safari clothes are perfect it will be pretty hot. Two pair of safari pants and some tee shirt tops. These you can rinse out yourself and they dry overnight. One or two light pairs of pants and a few tops for the evenings. Things that are light to pack and do not wrinkle. Wear athletic shoes and a pair of sandals for night. Cutting down shoes really helps with packing.

For men be sure their slacks are washable not dry cleanable so you can get them washed in a hotel if necessary.

Most important of all have bags that are NOT full so when you move around you do not have to pack so carefully.

I will probably pack as I do for a safari. Have things packed in zip lock bags so I can rummage through my clothing without having to keep folding it again. Makes is so much easier.

Above all remember we are all in the same situation. You will see me in things numerous times and when all is said and done no one will remember what the other person was wearing.

Thanks Ngaire....I will try to keep your words in my head when I'm packing. I didn't know how dressy we needed to be for the evening.

If anybody else has moved since Roar2, heads up! I got an email from K&D, wanting to confirm our old address for mailing the paperwork!

Okay - I am getting impatient for our information from K&D!!

Still awaiting documents,we leave in just over 3 weeks. Guess its the excitement building.

We received an e-mail from K&D with our tracking number. The docs are scheduled to arrive here in Boston on the 24th.

We are so looking forward to this trip.
