11 seater van at $158NZ per hour shared by those in the van. With 10 people that is about $16 NZ per hour per person, or $12 US.
Alan and Donna Hull Steve and Liz Edwin and Linda Don and Carolyn Chuck and Valerie
This is your thread to discuss what you want to do on your tour and how long you want it to be.

Alan and I would like a shorter tour, 4 to 6 hours. We aren't interested in the sheep farm or gannet colony as we have already seen those. Other than that, we are open to suggestions and participants.

I would love to go to Sheep World again, ONLY if others are interested. We're flexible as well. We're planning to be in Auckland 3 nights before boarding the ship.

I heard back from my operator in N.Z. For the 11 seater van for 6 hours the cost is $948NZ a van. Same price exactly as the 4 hour or 8 hours van just adjusted to 6 hours.
They do need payment in advance and prefer by one credit card rather than multiple cards. I am going to charge it to my credit card and then once I get the amount in US dollars when it clears my card and you can just pay me back. I went ahead and told her to run it now. The rate of exchange has been diving and you never know what it is going to do but I have been told it is expected to drop even more. So I thought I would lock in the exchange rate now.
Hope that is okay with everyone it was the easiest way to handle it.
No reason for anyone to pay me now we will just wait until the cruise is paid off so we are sure who will be in each van. Someones plans may change

Thanks, Ngaire, we'll be ready to pay when you say so.
Looking forward to meeting you and Valerie, Chuck as well as the rest of our van-mates. This is going to be such a fun cruise.
Now, we need to think about what to see.

Hi Ngaire, I posted that I would be interested in joining one of the van trips in Auckland but have never heard back from you. Is there any room for a single passenger? Susan Walsh is my TA for this trip. Hope you can fit me in! Arlene Kase

Darn it all. We arrive on the 30th so guess we have to solo it from the airport. We also have been here before but I want to go to the aquarium and see the pengins again. Think the first day or so will be getting "time zoned",so we will be ready to dance it up on all those sea days and nights. We're flying Quantis from LA on the 28th,and staying at the Sky City Hotel. Anyone have any suggestions for other sight seeing?

These are sightseeing vans Pat not pick up vans at the airport.
If there are other people who want to join you we can arrange another van. Anyone not on that wants another van?
As to Kelly Tarltons, I am sure there is a tour that will take you there from the hotel or even a city bus that will go around Mission Bay and stop at the Kelly Tarltons.

Pat and Ray -- Kelly Tarlton's has a free van to transport you to their facility. It stops at the Sky City Hotel once an hour during the day (it's either on the hour or the half hour--can't remember for sure).

Well that is neat news I did not know that. I have never really stayed as a tourist in Auckland. Always had a car or family running me around.

The other neat "free" transportation option in Auckland are the Circle City buses--you can ride completely around the downtown area in them. They're great if you want to go down to the harbor or shopping--or to a downtown restaurant. You can catch the Circle bus just across the street from the Sky City Tower/Hotel. They run every 15 minutes or so. Besides Kelly Tarlton's, the other thing we really enjoyed in Auckland was the Maritime Museum which is right on the harbor. If you're into that sort of thing--it's one of the best we've seen. We also enjoyed taking the ferry over to Devonshire--a really neat little island--lots of shops and an old Fort. You catch the ferry in the harbor area also--if you go, buy the combination ferry/tour ticket to get a complete tour of the island.

The excursian to Devonshire sounds like something we would like to do as well as the Maritime Museum.Being originally from the east coast(Nova Scotia) it will be interesting to compare them.Thank you for the interesting suggestions
