I am sad to say we had to cancel this voyage. My husband is still working and we don't have enough vacation time! We will have to be satisfied with seamail. ;)

Cheers, Pam

I think LAMB sounds like one of the best cruise deals RSSC has offered in a long time. Karen, you still have several months to finagle away. Crunch those numbers girl - you can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Pacific is calling you.

OH KAREN that would be such a treat for all of us if you and Mark would join Lamb - how neat to have Ngaire and perhaps the LCT "second in command" onboard - I am soooooo hoping :lct: :lct:

If you went with Regent's air and did one of the morning arrivals, they would most likely have a "day room" or early check in for you plus the transfers from the airport you would not get booking on your own.

Jim: I, too, have been checking...trying to avoid all those snowy stops that might be blizzard prone...we were toying with idea of going in day early - leave here the 28th arrive Auckland the 30th - out of pocket $$ for the 30th but chance to rest for 3 days before getting on ship - Delta has non stop now into LAX once a day - one morning flight arrives LAX 9 AM and one evening fight leaves LAX 10:30 PM - that is a lot of time to kill before getting on an Auckland flight and getting off the ship - makes for very long days!!! We'd have to get up at 4 am to make the morning non stop - ugh!!!

I suspect all realize this but you lose a day going to AKL. Leave LAX on 11/27 and arrive in AKL on 11/29 at 6:00am if on QF 26 which is what Carol and I are booked on. We plan to rent a car and drive to an area that is south about a 4 hour drive and is a tourist area. Will stay there and do some tourist things on the 29th and 30th and drive back to AKL on 9/1 for the two night in AKL. We live in LA area so it was a one way flight for us. Wanted to use an American partner which Qantas is to get the miles.

One suggestion is to look at the seat layouts on seat guru as in coach most of the layouts have a 3-5-3 or maybe it was a 3-6-3. In any event it was 3 on the window sides. Not good.

We are considering coming in a few days early (don't know how many yet) and flying down to Queensland/South Island for some touring. When Alan and I get our ducks in a row, will check to see of any of you are interested. We haven't booked flights yet, usually use Regent, especially on this kind of itinerary.

Our miles are on United and we are saving them for ROAR II, but that is another set of questions for a different thread. I am frequent-flyer mile challenged. Makes my head spin!

Karen, I think you should just go for it! Not for me, the one who wigs out about Christmas and Thanksgiving. I could never travel at this time in my life til I get over that Santa thing.

Olivia, I am taking a big gulp and giving up the "Santa thing" for 2007. But, I think the 2006 holidays had something to do with it. I didn't finish decorating until Dec. 22 because of our painting project so I only got to enjoy my handiwork for about a week - way too much effort and trouble for such a short time. I think I am decorated out for a while. Right now, I feel "liberated" from all of that work, especially when the kids can't come and it's just Alan and me.

Baa, Baa, the flock is calling Little Lamb, Karen.

I'm relishing the thought of NOT having all the big Christmas hoop-la that we always have. Love the excuse for not doing the normal cooking and decorations that we do every year!! This could become a tradition.... Best of both worlds...home for Christmas but without all the fanfare and WORK!

Karen & Olivia, we'd sure love it if you'd reconsider and join us!! Think of the timing as a huge plus... :app:

In 2005 we had to leave for Billings around 2pm
Christmas Day so never put up a tree and limited the decorations. It was great! Had a 6 am flight on the 26th for FLL.
This trip we get to LAX on the 21st and Jan's brother lives in Mission Viejo so we are thinking of staying with them and actually fly home in the afternoon on Christmas Day.

Oh Ya. I am at the SpringHill Suites in Billings.
woke up to a Blizzard outside, but the temp has already gotten to 40 so we will be ok.

I guess we better bring Mark's tux! I have already told myself that I have to limit the shoes on this trip. I better go see what Qantas's luggage weight limit is!

Editing to add, Qantas still allows 70lbs. :hyper: I can't remember how it works with AA if we are flying international, is it still a 50lb limit?

Yes, Karen you can have the higher limit on the AA flight if your domestic ticket is on the same flight itinerary.

Now dont get tempted with all those shoes!!!
