We seem to get(every now and then) bad colds or the flu when coming home from our cruise. We have tried to be very careful, but about 2 days after we get home, we are sick. My Dr. says you are in a flying petrie (sp) dish. I am thinking about wearing a mask!!

I am a complete addict! I had started to get 2 colds since I found out about Airborne and after 2 doses (about 8 hours) the cold is gone!
I will be stocking up before our next flight and start taking it the day before we leave. I also bring along Zicam, just in case.
Mark calls me the "girl in a bubble" because I am so paranoid about getting germs while I am flying that I go through a bottle of hand sanitizer even before we land :) I have even considered a Michael Jackson mask

Ditto on the Zicam! That is a great product. The only thing is that you have to start using it at the first sign of a cold. Once it's fully underway Zicam won't help as much.

Jan B and I both have started using air borne and feel that it has stopped our colds from getting worse and in about 24 hours is gone. Night before a flight we take one both leaving and returning.

I agree that AIRBORNE is the absolute best!!
Since we live on a small island, we have to stock up everytime WalMart gets a supply, they usually run out the same day they put the AIRBORNE out on the shelves.
My daughter travels all over the world and she won't leave home without it. She says when she is traveling, people are always offering to trade her stuff if she'll give up her AIRBORNE.
It is simply the best!!

I swear by Airborne. I have been a road warrior this year: I've flown over 125,000 miles since January - multiple trips to Asia, Europe and Brazil really add up! I take one the morning of the plane ride, one on the plane (sometimes two if it's a long haul), one when I arrive at my destination and one the following morning. Hand sanitizer is a key part of my travel defense strategy. Also I only drink bottled water (no ice and only from European countries - no local Indian or Chinese water) and wine (lots of wine!) I've not been sick at all this year which is remarkable considering all the places I've visited. All my colleagues are taking Airborne now when they travel and they report similar results.

Add me as another poster child for Airborne! Just this morning I took a dose since I woke up with the signs of sore throat. So far, knock on wood, I feel fine!
And I agree with Mary Ellen. Use that hand sanitizer often!

I'm a believer in Airborne, but have also looked at Zicam. It appears there are different types; which are you all referring to? Might get some of that also.
On my last flight, I encountered something I hadn't seen before; the man next to me changed his baby's diaper, left it on the tray table for about 10 minutes before he excused himself to dispose of it! Had not thought about tray tables before, but will definitely be wiping it down with anti-bacterial wipe!!

Kathy, that is one gross story!! I, too, will be wiping down my tray! The Zicam I use is this kind, it lasts through several colds. You stick the applicator tip in your nose and it deposits some gel: There is also the "single serving" Q tip kind but the Q tips are so big, it's like sticking a mop up your nose: ![[Linked Image]](http://www.madprofessor.net/images/zicam-tm.jpg) Also, don't make the mistake of sniffing in Zicam like you would do with an Afrin nose spray type thing. The gel is supposed to sit on your nose membranes and be absorbed that way. Eww, I am grossing myself out :)

It may have only been a wet diaper; I didn't look closely, but I still swore I would always wipe down tray tables after that!

Kathy - that's nasty. If any of you catch me doing anything like that with Marika's diapers, you have my permission to kill me on the spot.

I'm sure none of us would KILL you, but...
We were on our way to visit son when this occurred and I did ask him if he'd ever done such a thing; no, he changed diapers in the plane restroom which I can't quite visualize either!

I never like those tray tables. And I also hate to use the seat pocket in front of you. Most people put their trash in them. Airline travel is icky, but, a necessary evil.
When I came home from PIP I got a very bad case of Bronchitis. My Doctor said that it's critical when flying to keep your nose membranes moist. He suggested Vaseline or using a saline spray. I think the Zicam would be even better.

Changing a baby's diaper in the restroom of an airplane? He's got to be kidding! I can't imagine doing that in such confined quarters!
I've been using Ocean saline spray to keep the sinus membranes moist and as germ-free as possible. COSTCO sells Ocean for a little over $3.00 for two spray bottles.
Ocean, Airborne and Zicam will be going along on our trip in August.

We found Zicam (both varieties but bought the non-mop variety) at Target yesterday. The pharmacist there said they formerly stocked Airborne but no longer carry it. We found that at Trader Joe's (didn't get to CVS but I think I've seen it there). Just wanted to add to possible sources. (We're in No.VA, just for reference.)
And now that you mention it, I'll ask J to pick up Ocean at Costco on his next visit (he usually tries to go without me -- it's more economical if I'm not there to go up and down every aisle -- same for Wegmans). Since our next trip will be one of those once-in-a-lifetime trips and I got a humdinger of a cold returning from 2 weeks in Jamaica about 18 months ago -- timed for having been acquired on the flight back -- we want to take every preventive measure possible. Besides extra rest and all the usual stuff that we all know we don't get time for pre-travel. ;)

I fly over 200,000 miles per year, and NEVER travel without at least one full tube of Airborne - it has saved me on more than one occasion, great stuff! Cheers, Ken (currently in London, tomorrow night on to Dusseldorf, back to Minnesota on Thursday)

Denise,
I didn't question; I'm only the mother, right? Sounded nuts to me; I can barely turn around in there and he's 4" taller than me. I think he tried to explain, but I didn't try to retain it as I'm certainly not going to be doing it!
Wipes, Airborne and Zicam for me and fingers crossed!!
