Priscilla - I am SO ready for you and John to see the Mariner also. It's been too long since you were on a Regent ship. I ended up loving the Mariner, but after all the cruises you & I did on the Voyager together I must admit the Mariner was slightly confusing those 1st few days. I kept hitting the elevator button for the deck number of the venue on the Voyager. Oh, wrong. You all will especially love the coffee area. Looking forward to your seamail - when and if you have time. And in particular wanting to know where you think the best place is for bear watching. Have a great time and we can email after you get home. Say hi to John and give him a big hug for me. :bv:

Aw, thanks everyone! You've made my day. Betty, you are right that it has been too long since we've been on a Regent ship, not since November 2007. I am so eager to be back onboard, and it will be fun learning my way around the Mariner. Wish some of our good friends were along, but I'll try to keep you posted by seamail.

Denise, if we "have a situation" I'll call you for help.

Since it's near the end of the day on Thursday, I am calling it THREE days and counting until we fly off to Vancouver first thing Monday morning.... :D :D

We'll be in Provence, so any "situations" will need to be on hold until we return :D

No no no, Denise. If we're "gonna have a situation" who better than you to get us out of it???? Oh well, I'll have to manage on my own, I guess.

Now, if we're "gonna have a situation" in Provence, I guess I'll have to muddle through without you, somehow.

Thanks, everyone! Today is one of those pre-vacation chore days. Run to pick up cleaning, get things ready for the petsitter, and on and on. Not especially fun -- BUT that will make being on the Mariner even better next week.

Hello everyone! Thanks for the great bon voyage. Karen, your Vancouver picture caught the day perfectly. It was quite warm -- mid-80s, I believe -- and sunny, which made for a beautiful sailaway. Today still is sunny, really gorgeous, but a little cooler, in the low 60s. Jackets and sweaters are appearing all around the ship now, unlike yesterday.

This is our first time on the Mariner and I'm now acclimated. It feels different from the Voyager in some regards, and the same in others (such as La Verandah, where we just finished lunch). Tonight is the one informal night, and we'll be in the Compass Rose, with Prime 7 reservations later in the week. Last night's dinner was excellent, especially an Alaska seafood spectacular (or something named similarly) as an appetizer. We've met some nice people, but no other LCTers. :(

Our suite is wonderfully situated on Deck 7, and it should come as no surprise that I've spent a good bit of time on our deck already, including for breakfast this morning. We had a good lecture about the Inside Passage this morning by Charles Iliff, a retired professor from the University of Alaska, whose wife also spoke briefly and is a retired professor also.

I wanted to answer on this thread now but will start a seamail thread next time. We have left the open waters and are coming into a more narrow portion of the passage where the sightseeing should be good. So I'm off for now. Tomorrow is Ketchican, where we have a floatplane excursion to Misty Fjords.

More later!

Priscilla, I looked at the Ketchican webcam this morning and it looked beautiful, bright blue sky which is so unusual for that port! I think you are in for a treat, here is the weather for Friday:

Sunny. Highs 76 to 84. West wind 15 to 20 mph.

Priscilla, it sounds as if you are off to a great start. I love the Mariner. Say hello to sweet Elsa, (social hostess...I think she is still on) for Larry & I, if you get a chance!

Have lots of fun. Looking forward to all your SeaMail!

Hi Priscilla, Thanks for posting. Glad to hear that your weather has been wonderful. Is Terry Breen not onboard? When you get time, do let us know who some of the staff are? Enjoy Ketchican.
