Yes Connor (my grandson for those that dont know he is 6 years old) is a little trooper. Also LOVES cruising. I can just see him asking about lunch, he eats a lot for a little boy. I bet he and Clay are playing all the games and getting lots of tokens.

Connor was on a donut search this morning; I shared the secret that Navigator Lounge seems to get the good donuts in the morning, so off they went.
We had lunch at Rumrunner's in Christiansted, and they said they have a webcam. I didn't see it while we were there. We are actually docked, and this morning there were two people (they had on masks) on TALL stilts walking and dancing around on the dock. I got some pics, will find a good one and put it up when we get home. They were absolutely hysterical, and very good on those stilts. I missed the picture of the one person holding one stilt in the air and jumping around on the other one.

Yipeeee, David!! How fun to be the stalkee for once! Another lovely day as you can see by the web cam picture. I will have to wait til I get home up post photos as our connection is too slow. Great dinner with Pam, Mark, Larry and Betty tonight.
Tomorrow night is our last formal night and we are eating with the Staff Captain. Grand Turk is our next port and we don't get in till after noon and leave at 7pm so we might have our special room service dinner that we like to have once a cruise! Nothing more relaxing than eating dinner with no shoes on ;)

Well, we had quite a party in our cabin at 5:00 this morning. Mark was snoring, and I reached over to tap him a little bit; he was non-responsive. I got up, tried to wake him, flashed lights in his eyes, washed his face with a cold cloth, nothing. His eyes would roll back in his head, and he would do this horrible moaning sound, then his eyes would close. I called for the nurse, she came in, immediately decided it was blood sugar but it was so low she couldn't read it on the meter. She called a Code Blue and woke up the entire ship.
She was excellent, the doctor came immediately and he was good, too. They got Mark on a stretcher, took him to the infirmary, hooked him to a glucose drip and within 10 minutes or so he was fine.
Englebert was here with me, Betty and Larry came running, and Betty stayed with me downstairs until she was positive Mark was okay. I think we'll all need a nap today.

OMG Pam, I was laying in bed this morning mentally going through the room numbers when they called the code blue and didn't put 2 and 2 together! I am so glad Mark is OK!

He was immediately fine, but I'm going to once again carry a tube of that frosting stuff with me. I had stopped having it around when he went off the insulin after his surgery, but if I couldn't have gotten him to an IV, I could have put some of that inside his cheek and the soft tissue would have absorbed it. Rich taught me that trick, it's easier to acquire than glucose paste, and tastes a LOT better.
But he shouldn't be having these drops anymore, it was just something completely freaky. He had a lower than normal calorie dinner last night, with no bread, but had eaten a chocolate covered pretzel yesterday afternoon.
All is well, though, he's still planning our outing today.

I am so sorry you both had to go through that. Good to know the ship staff was tip top prepared to help you.
Don't let it affect the rest of your trip. I'm sure you will continue to have a terrific time
And I vote for naps for you this afternoon

Pam that must have been so scary. Glad that the ship acted so quickly and that Mark is now okay.
Make the most of the last remainging days, it sounds like it has been a wonderful trip with a great group. I have been getting some emails from some of the group and it appears the Navigator is in top form.

We are enjoying our port day in San Juan. We walked around downtown. What a relief to see Pam & Mark out and about after the scary early morning "code blue".
Larry & I did the "back of the house" event hosted by AMX yesterday. It's fun to see that part of the ship.
Delightful dinner, last night, with Karen & Mark and Pam & Mark. The food and the service continues to please us.

What is the frosting in a tube? I have a diabetic friend who could benefit from having it with her.

This is the second Navigator cruise in a row with a code blue ( not counting the 5 day charter). It is comforting to know that Regent handles these circumstances so promptly and effectively. Very glad all is well.

Kathy, in the cake mix and frosting area in the supermarket, they have small plastic tubes of "decorator frosting" or gel. It is as effective as the glucose paste. Honey would work, too, but honey has a bad habit of escaping its confinement and getting everything sticky.

And at 7:15, we are STILL here. I surely am glad I talked Mark out of waiting for sailaway in Galileo's. Two guys from either Coast Guard or Immigration are on the second floor of the terminal, eating snacks and hanging out. I pointed to my wrist, one of them laughed and said "soon, soon". That was 30 minutes ago.
We've called for room service, formal night was more than we could deal with tonight.

It's 10 pm and we are underway. Joanna, I think Karen picked this cruise strictly for Grand Turk, which is supposed to be tomorrow. The captain just announced that we'll be doing 20 knots all night, so there might be some roughness. Hopefully we'll get to make the Grand Turk stop, for Karen's sake; it was going to be a short one anyway.
We did room service and comfy clothes tonight, planning to turn in early. But the gangway is right outside, so I waited til they pulled that in. Mark's out like a light.

San Juan to Grand Turk (airports, I have not found ports) is 346 nautical miles. At 20knots, that would take 17.5 hours. That would make around a 3pm arrival and then time to dock. All the new facilities built by Carnival are right at the port so is convenient.
Hopefully the Captain can get another knot out of the ship for a slightly earlier arrival.

For some reason, I think we were an hour or so late leaving San Juan on DC in December. That was the night of our Gala Farewell Dinner and I just can't seem to remember why we were late. There were four huge ships in port with us that day.
I've looked up the Grand Turk webcam and it seems to be down.... has been for a week. Darn, that would have made a great stalk!!

The crew has to be especially nice to them, or, the delay will be even longer. As mentioned in my review, on the last cruise, the Navigator was held up until 11:00 a.m. These delays are quite common.

For a minute there I thought you were basing it on the portmasters log or Coast Guard records. Crew scuttlebutt is not a very reliable source. If you are going to make such strong statements, I would recommend that you do research first.

Hmmmm, my cruise was held up 3 weeks ago for 1 hr. 45 minutes. FUN was held up for several hours tonight. This, plus the information provided by an officer of the ship is enough information for me.

I can't remember if we were late leaving San Juan, but we were certainly held up by customs and immigration arriving. It's got to do with entering and leaving US territory, and home land security and all that. It was a real pain, the arrival.
Glad to hear you guys are rolling with the punches and having a good time. Enjoy the Turks!

Our last several cruises have stopped in San Juan, and we've always departed basically on time (bearing in mind that in the Caribbean, "on time" can vary according to who is determining it). I kept saying "I could have gone back to the Coach store!".
We'll get to Grand Turk a few hours late, and they have extended our time there. But all tours have been cancelled; I know that's a heart breaker for Susan, John and the boys.

Yes it is a big disappointment to miss our last dive which we were very excited about because it was a wonderful wall. The water is so pristine and Grand Turk receives wonderful dive reviews. The ship has reacted quickly and published a new list of activities today to delivered to each cabin. Fortunately they are extending the time in Grand Turk although no tours. Unfortunate that the Coast Guard had all day and within 20 minutes of our scheduled departure they boarded and detained us over 5 hours, all during the Captain's farewell party which the staff handled beautifully.

Why did all the excursions get cancelled? You can probably pick things up at the port, of course.
