Mark is willing to consider the cruise, but right now he says that seems like a lot of money to look at ice for two weeks. I'm totally ignorant, so please tell me what he'd see and what is so wonderful about this itinerary.
Thanks!

Pam, Pam, Pam - You won't "be looking at ice for two weeks", unless you (like some of us) spend way too much time in the lounge staring into your malt scotch on the rocks. Pat & I took the very similar "Captain Dag's Norway" cruise in the summer of 2004 and found it superb. Indeed, that time of the year you won't see much ice in most places you visit; but you will see scenery that is nearly too magnificent to describe. The fjords are wonderful and the little towns charming. Experiencing the Midnight Sun is a bit disconcerting but rather interesting - we photographed the sun over the North Cape at 2:00 am!! (While sipping one of the afore-mentioned malt scotches, of course.) Even though we are not avid members of the Cult of Captain Dag (having found Captain Knute equally or more charming), this Norway cruise is excellent quite aside from any connection with Dag and his hometown (which is absolutely delightful, by the way). The popularity of this cruise is well-justified. Cheers, Fred

Actually, you won't see much ice--except up at the ice cap. What you will see is Amazing rain forest type scenery and waterfalls in the fjords and charming Scandanavian cities and towns. You can get a complete history of the Vikings or learn about the maritime history of the Hanseatics. Bergen is a colorful fishing port with an incredible market right near the port--a great place to drink beer and people watch. The most fun thing about this cruise is that you never get tired because the sun stays out all night. When you cruise the North Cape at midnight, you'll be doing it in bright sunlight--an amazing experience. This cruise is all about the scenery and the incredibly friendly Norwegian people--don't miss it!!!! And don't forget the partying with the LCT folks--you can stay up most of the night before you realize it's late.

Oh my gosh, where do I start?
We did almost the exact itinerary last summer on Navigator, same number of days. The main difference is that we started from Iceland and this itineray doesn't go there.
One of the things I loved about this itinerary was the Midnight sun. Being out on deck at 10-11 PM and have the sun out was surreal( in a nice way). Then you see it come down, disappear on the horizon, only to come back up again!
Visiting Magdalenfjord(sp?) and the ice cap was another highlight. Yes, a lot of ice but different. I really enjoyed being in the hot tub with all the ice floes floating by! I even enjoyed the scrapping sound the ice made against the ship. Is that wierd or what?
We were delayed by the ice and got very late to Honnigsvag(sp?) so we couldn't go on the North Cape tour BUT we cruised by it and what a sight that was.
And last (But not least) the stops in Norway( especially Bergen) and cruising the fjords is spectacular.
IMO, the sights are superior to Alaska.
If I could( and my DH said yes) I would sign up for this cruise with no hesitation. Is my best cruise to date.
I'm sure others will chime in.

Norway in general, and the west coast in particular,is an absolute delight. However regard sight of the midnight sun as a bonus, especially at the North Cape which is famous for it's rapidly changing weather. North of the Arctic Circle, the perpetual daylight can be disconcerting!

Pam:
We did Capt. Dag's Way of Norway (Sinful Cruise) in June 2004 and the itinerary appears to be about the same. The cruise came highly recommended and we're glad we did it.
Norway's scenery is just beautiful, the people friendly and fluent in English. Plus you will visit the Capt. hometown and it's an easy walk to his home.
If you would like to see some of my pictures of the cruise go to: http://www.kodakgallery.com/Signin.jsp?redirect=yes&Upost_signin=MyKodak.jsp%3F&UV=331289312763_68616364110

Then go to: Ray's Sinful Cruise: Olden; Ray's Sinful Cruise: Bergen; Ray's Sinful Cruise: Nevlunghavn (Capt. Dag's hometown)
I also have a dvd of the trip but it is too long and boring.
Cheers! Ray

I could just go on and on Pam, I already e-mailed you a link to my pix. This was just the best cruise I can remember (well, maybe in the past couple of years)
C'mon Eve, really TELL what fun it was! On our cuise, we danced in the Galileo Lounge to the music of the guitarist as we went to the North Cape in full daylight. Someone got us up on stage to learn that sexy Greek dance! We met every night before and after dinner for drinks in the Lounge. I took the best picture of Ken and my Joanna that night. I had my first "Lemon Drop" on this cruise! It was just a great cruise, best scenery of all my cruises! But it was COLD in the beginning!
