We made it to Copenhagen; sitting in the Executive Lounge at the Marriott now. For whatever reason, I didn't close my eyes on the flight over so by the time we hit the hotel at 9:30 am, I was half dead. They told us we probably couldn't get a room until 4:00, so we sat down in the lobby to wait. And watched about 30 people check in and get their keys. We had lunch, the approached the front desk with questions. At first (this was at 1:00), they said at least three more hours, but they ended up "putting a rush" on our room. I don't know how that differs from the "priority checkin list" but whatever works. I managed to sleep about 15 minutes before somebody knocked on the door to give us some bottled water. I should sleep well tonight.

Tomorrow, we'll do some sightseeing and see how the day "flows". Then, on Saturdy we'll board!

Oh boy Pam, poor you! I have done that--sitting in the lobby after an all-night flight, no fun at all. Hopefully by Saturday you will be well-rested and ready. Enjoy Voyager!

Well a not so good start means the cruise will be wonderful.

Today we walked a lot, rode one of those hop-on, hop-off buses, and wandered around Tivoli. Something dreadful has happened to my laptop, so I bought an additional memory card for my camera in case I can't find computer help. BUT, I didn't think about doing that until after I left my camera here at the hotel. So, no pictures of Copenhagen, I guess.

The old, old buildings here are amazing!

I bet you can find a place to make a CD-ROM from your memory card in case you can't get the computer fixed. They are all over now. They will certainly do that for you on the ship. Bon Voyage!

Good hearing from you. The wait at the Marriott was really outrageous. It's a tremendously busy property. We found that out last year, when we checked in with Ngaire/Ken, Leslie/Brad. Our rooms were not ready; however, we left our luggage at the bell desk and went sightseeing with a driver arranged through their Concierge.

Well, tomorrow you begin your cruise. I know how excited you must be. Get a good night's sleep, for tomorrow your BI cruise begins!

Today is the day!

I realized that they would make a CD for me on the ship, AFTER I left my camera in the hotel yesterday. Oh well.

The Marriott is a really, really nice hotel! The Executive floor provides four computers with free internet, continental breakfast in the morning, and little snacks in the evening.

I don't remember if Marriott is going non-smoking worldwide, but there aren't balconies on the hotel.

Keep checking in....we are dying for seamail!

We have moved away from the dock; Captain Dag backed us up to the Little Mermaid before he started forward. We are on Starboard side, so didn't see it today.

We boarded about noon, had a nice lunch with a couple from Georgia, then got unpacked and settled in. There was a dark cloud during muster drill, but so far no rain. The weather in Copenhagen has been absolutely perfect!

Sounds awesome Pam! Glad you enjoyed Copenhagen - you'll have to give me some tips before Fjords.

The North Sea is so smooth; we can barely tell that we are sailing! I remembered to check for vibration when we had lunch in La Veranda, and while I could feel some vibration, if I hadn't known that I was checking, I don't think I would have noticed it.

Interestingly, I am mostly hearing American accents; there are some Asian/Oriental people onboard, but so far I haven't encountered anybody who I thought might be German/European. And, there are a lot of Southern drawls; the people at the table next to us at breakfast were definitely from the South. They were discussing what they could and couldn't do tomorrow, based on whether or not they get their luggage.

The crew members are all smiling and happy.

Regent Cruisers, we have a problem. Tonight was the first formal night, and can you even begin to guess what was on the truffle tray? Of course, you can't! You would never think of it, just like I wouldn't.

Chocolate stuffed PRUNES! Yes, two of them. I took a small bite, still couldn't believe what I was seeing, and asked Albert (who you will LOVE, be sure to get in his section); yes, he proudly answered. Oh. Blech. We leave early in the morning for our overnight excursion, but I'll be looking up somebody when we return, to explain that prunes do not have a place on a Regent Seven Seas truffle tray; they might belong at breakfast, but not at dinner.

We have met our soulmates; Gerry and Ken. I haven't gotten around to asking their last name, but I will give her directions on how to get here before the cruise is over. She can't wait to read all the reviews. They are in the Gold Tier, so they do know their way around the Seven Seas ships. They will SO fit right in with us!

Dinner was okay, not the extravagant feast we expect from Formal night, but it was good. We may "bag" the next formal night and go to La Verandah. Which, by the way is NOT a reservation restaurant yet.

What is your overnight excursion? I just checked excursions for Edinburgh and they all stated walking EXCEPT for a 2 hour whiskey tasting!! But didn't see an overnight.

I only like the chocolate truffles and I have noticed they are sneaking in tiny rice krispy treats plus small cut up pieces of what seems like left over teatime cakes. Still, I never go away hungry.

Kathy, I set this overnight up independently. I have been in tough with the man for over a year, because originally we were just going to do a land tour of several days with him. Then this cruise cropped up and we backed down to the overnight.

There is a bagpiper under our balcony, in full regalia. How great can it get?

Maybe this is part of the Regent Total Care Experience offering one item which both satisfies your sweet tooth and can keep you regular at sea? I think if you drink a glass of good port with that, it might be OK.

We just got back from our overnighter. Wow, just wow! We'll be back, next time we'll fly directly in and Gordon will pick us up at the airport, and we will go from there. We saw so much, yet left so much unseen because we ran out of time. Our weather was so great! Yesterday was sunny and rather warm; today there were some sprinkles (but always when we were in the car) and it was chillier.

His name is Gordon Ross, he has a new mini-van with plenty of space, and he is so very knowledgable. I found his name at CC, and he said several of his customers have told him that's how they found him. He is simply the best imaginable tour-guide; well-versed and personable.

I passed on touring Edinburgh Castle because the crowds there were going to cause a major delay, and we needed to head inland. We toured Stirling Castle, several old, old, OLD churches, Culloden Battle Field, saw old burial cairns from the Bronze Age. We spent the night at a bed and breakfast, had lunch at local spots both days. It was so perfect!

Compass Rose definitely isn't calling to us tonight, so we are going to La Verandah. I will have the Truffle Talk, never fear! Oh, and I stocked up on chocolate while I was on my tour. I found chocolate shops that Gordon didn't even know where there. Never get between a chocoholic and her chocolate!
