It was quite a show... all the Aussie's wearing costumes, etc. Lots of kids work there during their summer. However, one young man lacked a costume. He was skiing just wearing a cowboy hat and briefs (blue ones).

Happy Australia Day Lee ! I wish Suzie hadn't asked me to make her cake smaller as the comments were pretty funny!

Let's see. 27.8C would be about 87 F degrees?? Is that right? What a beautiful day. Better than our 6 degrees!!

Happy Australia day to Lee, Ken, Sheila, Frank, Wendy and our other Aussie LCTers. Looks like lovely weather in Sydney.
Saw the Air Force doing their tricks over the Melbourne tennis stadiums last night. Too bad Nadal retired .. hope both he and Roddick heal up quickly. Congrats to Cilic - Murray best be ready for a 5 set match. ;0
Cheers, Anne

Checked LCT about an hour ago and this wasn't on it and no, I haven't been celebrating too much!
David - thanks for the photos. I bought the lamb cutlets for the 'barbie' but ended up having Chinese!! How Australian is that? Sydney Harbour is a wonderful place to celebrate anything as long as the weather is fine. Ray and Penny have seen it at it's worst.
Loved the cake Suzie - the green is so green!!! Can someone tell me why we wear green and gold and have red, white and blue on our flag? I must have known that piece of information at one stage of my life, but can't remember the answer!
The fireworks going off at 9pm in Melbourne must be frustrating to the Aussie Open players. I will have withdrawal symptoms next week when the tennis has finished!
Thanks to y'all for your lovely messages!

Thanks for the Australia Day wishes Anne. Hope your visit to the Open is going well. Wet and windy up here in Cairns with ex Cyclone Olga hanging around! Sailing races cancelled due to the weather so had to resort to fun at home whilst watching the tennis on TV. Wave if you get on camera!

Thankyou for all your Australia Day wishes. It was a beautiful day in Noosa. Everyone was either outside at beach/river parties or having a good old Aussie BBQ at home. A really fun day of celebration.

Hi Frank, Wendy and Sheila
Do you know how and when the green and gold came into being? I know it represents the wattle and trees but that's all. Hope I'm not as dumb and I think I am!

Thanks for checking in. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Australia - except for the fact we missed seeing all of you in person! Our bad - it was amongst the briefest of post-cruise visits to Australia.
Hope to see each of you again soon, either on our side of the world, yours or on a mutually agreeable cruise!
Cheers, Anne
