Maybe on MUSH we can hijack the disco to a rock and roll night!

Kathy

Are you trying to choose between the Stones or the Pope?
Glad I don't have to make that decision.

I'm not old, I'm not old. I AM NOT OLD!!! BUT I am a MoTown sort of girl. I remember those tunes much more than the Beatles or what followed. I seem to be in the minority, perhaps because I am OLDER!

Believe me, you are not old. My first exposure to R & R was "Rock around the Clock" My camp counselors told me about it when I was in the 7th grade. I remember thinking how wicked I was & hoping my mother didn't find out I had listened to it, since many radio stations were refusing to play it. And you can only imagine what that Bible Belt thought when they first saw Elvis swing those hips!!

Well, um, lets just say that since I am a nice Jewish Girl, it will be a topic of conversation that I spent my birthday with the Pope.

Got a flyer for a Lehigh Alumni cruise next April on "Le Diamant (formerly the legendary MS Song of Flower" through the Mediterranean. Brings back fond memories! Cheers, Anne

Kathy, That really is an interesting concept with you and your 50th with the Pope. Makes me chuckle!! We used to try to get Phil on the Song of Flower to play the Stones and he would just laugh at us. Times have changed on the larger ships.

Anne, I wonder if Le Diamant has the same wonderful charm the SOF had? She was in a class by herself.

Betty, You were wicked and I suspect still are. :D :D :D

Beth-I'd try it except it overlaps ROAR. I did a google and found Columbia, University of Illinois and University of Idaho are also offering alumni trips on Le Diamant. It includes house wines at lunch & dinner but additional drinks are not included. Cheers, Anne

One, two, three o'clock, four o'clock, rock,
Five, six, seven o'clock, eight o'clock, rock,
Nine, ten, eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, rock,
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight.

I remember it well - I think summer of 54?? We spent the summers at the beach and the club had a rec room for us with jukebox - we played that song over and over and over

Yes, I can still be very wicked, at least my mother thinks so. But then she doesn't approve of words like gosh or golly. Poor thing, if she only knew it all, it probably would send her into cardiac arrest. She called the other day, very upset, because she overheard my sister use the B word.
Bonnie, it was a Camp Fire Girls camp at Lake Murray in Oklahoma. Nothing fancy.

This is the funniest thread ever!!! Where have I been????? How did I miss this?????

Remember all those songs Kathy listed.

Kathy - I think you and the Pope would get along just fine - you'd charm his socks off!! You'd probably have him posting on LCT within 30 minutes!!

Ok here's mine - getting ready to pack up our bathroom for a remodel that starts while we are on WINE!

Getting ready to pack for WINE!

Bonnie - we thought so too. All the demolition, and plumbing and rebuild will be done while we are gone, then when we get home, the installation will begin, but at least we miss the worst of it!! :chicken:

Just found out our entire floor at work will be relocated next month so new carpet can be installed. I'm in charge of my group of 30.

At home, our new bedroom carpet will be installed tomorrow.

When I "graduated", I was in college at worked at a CFG camp one summer in Oregon - half way between Portland & Mt Hood. Now that was one fine summer. The view from my cabin window - glorious. Maine sounds wonderful also.

Adding: There were 3 of us from Oklahoma - summer temps always in the 90s and 100s. We would get so tickled when the temperature went above 80, they made all the campers take salt pills. The chief counselor was not amused with us thinking it funny and stupid. "She was saving lifes!"

Kathy, loved remembering those old songs. Maybe we should do one year at a time.

Anne, who went to Lehigh? You or Gary? My oldest son graduated from there.

Me? Charm the Pope? Ha Ha.

We went to the Hollywood Bowl to see Tony Bennett tonight (part of our series subscription). We went with friends we met on our 2001 Mariner cruise to Alaska, Jack and Anne.

Anyway, Princess Cruises was a sponsor for the evening and they had a table with brochures. We have a box and the couple directly behind us were saying they were going to book their first cruise. I had to turn around and put my two cents in. I told them how we met our friends on board ship 5 years ago and that they should come check out LCT. Maybe they'll join us on MUSH!

Had an interesting date with Randy last night. We went to the emergency room... 9 hours later (went in at 5PM and out at 2AM), the doctor told us Randy had inflamed intestines due to a virus..... Fun Night!!! Nurse Ratchet (me) is taking very good care of her patient this AM. Back to the ER latet today for a check-up. Hope this trip isn't as long.......

Joanna's right - Gary is a triple engineer (BS, MS and PhD) and all three of his daughters also went to Lehigh (one is a double engineer (BS, MS) the other two earned their bachelor's degrees).

Olivia, when did your son attend? Wonder if he knows any of Gary's girls? Cheers, Anne

Suzie, Randy was raised on bbq and now really wants to stay off pork. High blood pressure and all. But Wilson BBQ is darn good. Bring on the Brunswick stew and hush puppies.

Thanks Trish, We've made 3 visits to the ER in the last 3 days. He is on the mend. I told Randy we need to find another place to go on our dates. I'm getting bored, tho Saturday night was surely interesting.
