So, you know how like on the "another" board you can point to a thread and it displays a box with the beginning of the post? Why doesn't that work on this board? Is it something I can set or is it like that for everyone? Other boards (ski and scuba, etc. )that I post on have it too. Just wondering. I'm a little bored at the moment.

Board software not set up for it, I guess. It's not your options, Kim - I think it doesn't work that way for anybody on LCT. I guess the person who would know best would be "The Architect" ... John?

Kim, Masaki is right, it's not an option for this board's software. Believe me, I would have it turned on, if I could!

However, if you click on the "today's active topics" link at the top of the main board page you will get something like that. If there is more text in the post you wil see ... and the link is right there for you to finish reading.

Kim, like Robert mentioned....I just leave it set to "Today's active topics" so it's easy to follow.

Ah, that's a nice feature. I've not used the "active topics" much, so now I see how it can be valuable. Thanks for the tip.

Karen, You are indeed an extra special moderator. We all know that and appreciate you!

Kim, just instant message me and I will tell you which posts have "good stuff" in them. You don't need no fancy post previewer ;)

I have thought of talking with Ngaire about upgrading the board to the newest version. The minuses definitely outweigh the pluses. This board is one of the most stable boards available and I would hate to give that up for some of the other options. I remember when we switched servers and the board was down for a while, some people went through withdraw.
Cruise Critic utilizes a different software that combines all of their internet needs, and they do alot of booking via the site and board. Ngaire never wanted this board to be a marketing tool for the business, just a place for friends to meet and talk about travel. I think it has grown to so much more that that. We have become a large family.

Yes, John, excellent post!!! I like this site MUCH better than CC - much easier to navigate, and always accessible (I have trouble loading CC's messages quite often, never have a problem here!) :lct:
