Did anyone watch the memorial service for Steve Irwin? I would like to hear your thoughts. I was very moved and thought it was extremely well done but that's from an Aussie point of view. When little Bindi stood up and read her speech, the tears just flowed. I feel so much for his family as he was such a wonderful husband and father and loved them all so much. He was far too young to leave this world as he had so much more to offer.
In case anyone is wondering about 'true blue' - that just means 'genuine'.

Lee, I wasn't even aware of the time or date, but knew the public memorial imminent, but I did not see it. Today is a real "news" day on CNN, but perhaps it will be covered later. I am not even a TV fan, but on Sundays when I do watch TV, I have always found Animal Planet, and have loved so many of his shows. What a down to earth lover of animals (and conservationist as well) who had real showmanship to attract non-animal lovers like me to watch his show. I first discovered that channel when we were researching ROAR 1, and now it is one of my favorites. What a loss to the whole world that we can no longer watch Steve's discoveries in the animal world, and his wonderful antics and good humor! There are so many of you Aussie's entertaining people around the world these days!

I didn't see it, Lee.
What a sad loss to his family and to those who loved and admired this very wonderful man. He had a real zest for life and it's a tragedy that his life ended at such a young age and in such an unbelieveable way.

I'm watching the rerun right now. Bindi just finished her speech.

Crikey, what a wonderful tribute! I'm so glad I watched this. Bindi was so utterly touching. His spirit definitely lives on in that darling child. Her speech was so well done. My heart goes out to all of his family. The world is really going to miss him. His passion was such a gift to all of us.
I loved watching him in Antarctica. I just wanted that show to go on and on. My favorite shows were with him snuggling up with the cheetah cubs, and, oh that precious precious baby elephant! What a gift he had. The memorial was so "genuine". The songs were so fantastic. "True Blue" & "Give me a home around the gum tree" rang through to the soul loud & clear. I hope to never forget these songs. So nice to see such warm & dedicated folks. He certainly had good parents - how refreshing how he spoke of them with such love & respect.
He leaves quite a legacy. Wonderful to learn of his work with marine biologists & oceanic research on the salt water crocs & that he was going to be soon granted the title "Adjunct Professor". To quote one of his mates, "The animals have lost their best friend."

Thanks for the feedback. To those who haven't seen it, if you get the chance, even if not a Steve Irwin fan, I think it's worth watching.
On Sunday, Teri and Bindi are doing an interview for our Channel 9, so that may even make it's way across to you.

Lee, I watched the memorial and it was heartbreaking. His pride and joy, Bindi Sue is his legacy.

Would you believe child psychiatrists are coming out of the woodwork and saying Bindi was exploited and it was child cruelty letting her speak!!
Barbara Walters (if that isn't her name, you'll know who I mean) is doing an interview with Terri and Bindi for the US, I think this Sunday.
