It wasn't very pretty but US managed a tie with England. There are 64 games in the tournament; so far, I have watched three on TV. We had a number of friends over tonight for the US England match; it was a great party. Now,just 59 games to go. Tomorrow (Sunday) there are three games along with the Formula One race; oh, it is sure nice to have wonderful sporting events. Wimbledon starts on the 21st while the Tour de France starts on 3 July. We will be able to see two or three legs of the Tour without leaving Belgium.

It appears that Arlene will go off to see roses tomorrow so I will be able to watch the race and the matches. ;)

I've watched two games so far with Lars - with Swedish commentary - I call that true love!!!!!

We can't help but get caught up in it. Soccer is really catching on in the U.S., although it's always been huge elsewhere. Last May we were on Navigator and stopped in Valencia, and Bilbao was to play Barcelona that evening. It was Wednesday morning at 11am and those people were going NUTS!!!! Carrying on, chanting, drinking, hanging out of buses. I think we saw like 3 Barcelona jerseys and literally thousands of those red and white uni's that Bilbao wears. (To their chagrin, Barcelona ended up winning :( ) We'll never forget that day and just how fun it is to witness other countries' pastimes/passions.

Kristen, there's a reason for the "soccer mom" thing. It has been catching on for many years, starting with the little ones. Now that I have a Brit for a son-in-law, I am learning to call it football! Although I heard on CNN or somewhere the other day that the term was "soccer" coined by the Brits! We already had "football" by the time it hit here.

I forget where I was 4 years ago during the World Cup, in Europe for certain. Flags hanging out apartment windows everywhere to support their teams!

I remember on a "Diamond" Black Seas cruise a few years ago, the crew had a "soccer" team and played a local team in a number of ports. The crew donated shirts to the opposing teams because they could not afford them. I'm not certain, but I believe the "Navigator' crew also participates in local games when time and location allow.("FUTBOL"!)

I have watched 3 games a day. Except the first day, I only watched 2. Because there were only 2 games on that first day.

I took 3 weeks vacation in order to watch every game. I have even sucked my good friends into my vortex, people who didn't dream they would like footie, are watching the games with me, cheering, and enjoying, and wagering!

I have a sickness. And I'm proud of it. Can't wait to go to Poland to take in Eurocup 2012!!!!!

Hup Holland. And Spain. Yeah, baby. Netherlands/Spain final, my dream.

O.K. Marc, seriously....I am a HUGE footie fan, but so far this is boring, really. Best game to date is Mexico 2 France 0... the result will make me smile forever. But I can't wait for "the beautiful game" which is BOUND to arrive soon, right???? I want all the footing, the headers, the beautiful plays. Where are they????? Come back, come back...

Ranked 78th on the world list we just held Italy, No 1 , to 1 all draw.

We are a Rugby Nation, (with the All Blacks), but our All Whites soccer team has really gob smacked us with their performance so far.
First time ever we have scored points at the World Cup.

Kiwi Kruzer, I was rooting for the All Whites all the way. That wasn't even a draw for your team, it was totally a win!

Congrats, congrats, congrats. It was a great game, made it all worthwhile for the fans who travelled to S. Africa to root the All Whites on!!!!

It's getting VERY exciting. Only negative to the tourney, Kiwi Kruzer..... I cannot believe the All Whites are out. How can you manage 3 games in group stage at the World Cup, concede only 2 goals, not lose a single game.....and still be ousted? It's not fair, and I'm so sad it happened. NZ deserved to continue on, if only for their unbelievable tenacity!!!! My deepest condolences to your wonderful nation and their fans!

Having said that - good luck to the USA, hope you're all watching!

We are all stunned by the outcome.The country worked itself up to fever pitch, with half the Nation getting up at 2 am in the morning to watch live coverage.....then Whammo ...they are on a plane coming home.
The players are now being headhunted by overseas talent scouts with huge cheque books.
Good for the players , but not for the game here.

Well, I'm doing pretty good, considering that prior to World Cup starting, in a group pool, I chose Holland and Spain as the finalists! They all called me insane, but I am now the queen of the world, at work, and in the pool!!!!

I choose Spain. My house is decked in oranje everything, we were in Holland in May and brought "Oranje" t-shirts and jerseys and flags and banners etc., all home with us. They were well and truly my 2nd favourite team. But, Spain is brilliant, and I choose them.

I just hope they put my favourite player in, #21, Silva...they've sat him out throughout, and I love him! Even more than Torres and Villa!

By the way, I am a CRAZY "footie" fan, and have already planned 3 weeks in Poland and Ukraine with my daughter in 2012 for Eurocup, and have a group going to Brazil for a full month for World Cup 2014!

I have only missed watching 6 out of the 60 games, the other 54 I have watched in their entirety!! LOL
