Denise,
On the news last night and Thursday night it was grid lock trying to get through the city- all this campaign stuff that is going on down there.
I would recommend the metro- good thinking Marc. It is fast- safe and don't deal with the traffic.

We are arriving on Sat. morning in my new vehicle :) - doing sightseeing~~ Denise might be able to met up earlier in the day at your hotel. Just finished a book that took place at the Willard.

Hi Jan,

Still weighing our options.

Will have to get back to you on meeting earlier on Sat. We have yet to firm which day we will be seeing my cousins, which will be either Sat. or Sun. I will let you know, Jan.

Hi Denise. Sorry I haven't checked this thread for a while. My recommendation is to take a cab from the airport to the Willard. It's only a few miles and should cost about $20. Cabs here charge an airport pickup fee as well as for extra passengers and baggage.

I suggest using a skycap. They often can bypass the taxi line and put you directly in a cab. Even if traffic is heavy, you're only going a few miles.

If the weather is bad and there are not enough cabs you could take the Metro as a backup. If you're not familiar with the Metro and don't like lugging your bags around, taking the train could be a pain. A cab is the way to go. Good luck. Tom.

Olivia - Frank and I enjoyed meeting you too. Sorry we didn't get more time to spend together. Wish you were going to be at the DC dinner.

Joanna - am disappointed you won't be able to make it. It was fun meeting you and Tony, again wish we had had a chance to spend a little more time together.

Lauri? Both of us having our DHs take us away for a birthday weekend that weekend? We have to share the weekend?

Anyhow, the other news is that we have a SECOND grandson now. My son's offspring, Max was born on February 20, about 3 weeks early. They live in Miami Beach. My DH's son's offspring, Ethan was born yesterday, a month early. Ethan is 19" long, 5# 3 oz, Apgar is ok. Going home tomorrow. Bris is next Wednesday. At least this is closer -- near Baltimore.

You will be missed on Sept. 30. Hope we do get the opportunity to meet sometime soon!

Again, Alan's and my very warmest congratulations! Wishing you a wonderful birthday celebration! You certainly have a lot to celebrate!

We're looking forward to seeing everyone at the dinner. Yes JoAnn we've just about recovered. I was back at work on Saturday and worked through Monday. I took Tuesday and Wednesday off and had a chance to relax.

In fact, I spent a few hours this evening working on a MUSH music video. It should be ready in a couple of days. I'll post it on Google Video and give everyone the link.

Lauri, Mona and I would love to see yuou again, perhaps on another cruise. Tom.

Denise, I've never been on a cruise with you, but we know each other for SO many years on cc and here and our two meetings for things in CA. You get a sense about people, and as TomG posted before MUSH, I knew he was a winner! You guys will have a great time with him, and the bonus is Mona! She has the most terrific sense of humor!

OK, Denise, Tom is fair game - now that we know you have sense of LCT humor Tom - the young Norweigan beauty in CR and LV asked if you were a producer?? I told her specials on Iraq and nursing homes - thank me later Mona

Maybe that Norweigan beauty thought Tom was a producer of "art" films.

"Tom is fair game." Hmmm...what are you inferring? Tom, do you have a "casting couch" in your office?
