Does anyone know which airlines (foreign and domestic) allow you to use f.f. miles for just a one way at approx 50% of those needed for round trip?? I know most will cost the same as a R.T.

I know UA and AA won't do it...they will charge you the full r/t miles . If I were them I'd charge half miles and maybe some sort of extra $ "penalization". Why not charge only 1/2 miles for a one way?
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends ~~M. Angelou~~

Delta does, but you normally have to pay a higher fare if using points for upgrade. I know USAir has minimum fares as well for upgrades, and you have to do R/T. For ICE on Delta, I paid higher RT fare, and only got the first leg upgrade on booking, and was charged one way upgrade. Got the return upgrade at the airport at the last minute. Doing the same thing for ROAR 2, but both ways confirmed upgrade at 50K points per person RT, again, at higher fare.

O, I'm not talking about paying and using miles for upgrade. I was talking about using ONLY f.f. miles for a one way ticket.

I thought I posted this somewhere. Midwest Express allows this, and it partners with Northwest.

I remember when I was looking at flights from Rio To Boston on Delta that I saw a one way for 90k, I know Delta lets you do it but you usually pay more.

That's what I thought, too, Frank. Only way to find out is to go there and start a fake booking and see what you come up with.

Marcie, I read a while back on flyertalk.com that Virgin allows one way trips for half the mileage. I haven't followed up with Virgin though.

I remember that I had a fake booking on hold for 3 days I think with Delta it was Rio To Boston for 70k per ticket Biz Class, but the date really did not work for me, and then the day I wanted opened up and it was 90k per ticket one way.
So you can do it, but again there usually is a premium for it.

Alaska allows you to do it. I'm looking into it right now for May 27 Mariner cruise that we just booked. We can both fly from Anchorage to Portland for 20,000 miles on certain flights. I only have 7,900 miles so I'm going to buy 13000 from Alaska for $350, which is less expensive that one one-way flight with taxes.

Air Canada does too......they are part of the StarAlliance. I'm hoping to use one way points return from Sydney on Ring of Fire for flat sleeper seats. Pat

I just got something from Northwest that seems to indicate you can do this, but it appears to cost more than 50% of the rt points. I haven't looked at it carefully yet, as I rarely have occasion to fly NW anymore.
