Our lovely state of California has certainly had it's share of woes, with all the horrible weather we've been experiencing.

I thought I'd share a little CA humor:

1. Your coworker has 8 body piercing and none are visible.

14. It's barely sprinkling rain and there's a report on every news station: "STORM WATCH."

15. You pass an elementary school playground and the children are all busy with their cells or pagers.

16. It's barely sprinkling rain outside, so you leave for work an hour early to avoid all the weather-related accidents.

17. Both you AND your dog have therapists.

18. The Terminator is your governor.

19. If you drive illegally, they take your driver's license. If you're here illegally, they want to give you one.

Geez, somthing's wrong here! Those lists make me glad to know I raised my kids out of California! Uh-oh, what response is this going to bring? I always thought, on a whole, that state was rather conservative, given all the votes you have to stop new taxes on social issues! I'm really pretty stupid about California, so please don't hold it against me. You guys are free to do anything you want!

Denise, that's hilarious! I have to admit that I was speed-reading and it took me a second to realize that it wasn't my eyes repeating the lines.

CA is extremely diverse. That's what a lot of the appeal is, in addition to the wonderful weather (last week doesn't count!).

I hope this does not offend anyone - I was just relaying a story to Joanna, via an email, that when we first announced to my parents, back in 1970, that we were moving to CA, my father's eyes widened and he said "Niecie, all the nuts are in CA!" My father was a very liberal man and way ahead of his time, but this was his perception and it really surprised me.

I prefer the terms diverse, free-thinkers, free-spirits or eccentric to nuts!

Interesting Denise - Tony had a job offer in CA in the early 70's and I said I don't think so, my parents said WHAT are you crazy?? And every time I go to Santa Monica I tell Tony "Boy this is nice I coud live here" - Joanna

Gee, just at the local Chinese we saw Tom Selleck (he's still a hunk) and Mickey Rooney (He still is,,,) on the same day.

Yep. Funny thing is that for most celebrities, it can be hard to recognize them - they look "regular" and they look familiar, but, often not recognizable. My first day on a bank job as a manager, I was letting people into the Safe Deposit Box area while I learned their computer system. A man walked up, signed in and I asked him to spell his name because it was unreadable. D-i-c-k-c-l-a-r-k. I looked up, squinted, and apologized for not recognizing him. On TV they covered up the grey, but in person and no make up, I bet you'd not recognize him either.

Claudia, I am laughing! I grew up in Southern California in Santa Ana where my first tape which was a 4 track (am I showing my age yet?) was of Three Dog Night.

I am also old enough to have been to P.O.P. (Pacific Ocean Park), The Pike in Long Beach, and was there in July 1955 when Disneyland opened.

As a celebrity, most people don't recoginize me either! LOL Actually, I was a child TV star. Well, at least for one day anyways. As an eight year old I was on the Art Linkletter Show, "Kids Say the Darndest Things." Mr. Linkletter asked me, "Is that a new suit that you have on?" To which I replied, "Yes sir it is, in fact everything I have on is new, even my underwear!!!" I still have that picture of me with Art in my best suit with my butch haircut.

I was picked on that show too! I was 5 (1960) but I was the alternate from my class. They picked 5 of us and 4 went on, but, I got to go to the studio with the other kids. Yes, I got a new dress. I grew up in West LA so we went to POP all the time.

Art Linkletter asked my cousin what her father did. She said that he was a bookie. He said don't you mean a bookkeeper. She said no, he was a bookie.They lived in Las Vegas. He probably was.

Denise, yes I grew up in Santa Ana and graduated from Saddleback HS. My wife grew up in Garden Grove and was at Pacifica. Where did you live in OC? I guess you live in Tustin now? My parents and brother live in Mission Viejo.
