I have an idea...

For those of us on MUSH, one night we should have a sort of perverse karaoke where we all request and perform our least favorite song. That way when we get booed by the group we won't feel as bad!

I'm now dying to see Masaki sing "My Sharona" (and of course view the video <img border="0" alt="[naughty]" title="" src="graemlins/naughty.gif" /> )

I could do "Jolly Green Giant" but would probably have to gag half way through it. There is plenty of time before the event.

How about a Pointer Sisters act? Marcie, you could be part of a sister act. I know you can do it.

Claudia,

Isn't it "Wait and see" not "way down sea"? Makes it slightly less, uh, "appropriate", but fun anyway. We won't need the sailor outfits then, just big hair.

Also we could immediately follow this with "Leader of the Laundomat" dedicated to Tony.

We just did the Supremes at a Bar Mitzvah. that was fun. We had all the props. - Blow up microphones and rainbow wigs. What a blast. The men did the Blues Brothers - sunglasses were provided.

Ngaire will not allow "Stop in the Name of Love" to be performed anymore. The girls did it on VOF, DDD, and MINT. She said enough is enough...

We did "Danny Boy" at a recent Irish function (Hibernia???) - we had the typical Irish props - beer beer and more beer -

I once was forced to perform "Like a Prayer" with corresponding gestures because I lost a bet. Very scary for the audience...

How about "Muskrat Love"? Or possibly one of the worse of any age - Marzy Doats (Mares eat oats)? Those two certainly rank up there on my list - along with Don't Worry Be Happy, which was already listed.

Anne (?) you're right about Harry Connick Jr. Just heard him on the fund raising show singing When the Saints Go Marching in - certainly no credit to the city he says he loves!!

These are all good choices, except I do love American Pie as well.

Had to think for awhile and then I remembered Achy Breaky Heart!!! 2nd place Nancy Sinatra "These boots are made for walking".

Triva: Muskrat Love was written by Willis Allan Ramsey who did one really good album in the 70's. It was a sort of county folk with songs like Drugstore Cowboy. The only bad song was Muskrat Love which became a big hit with the Capt. and what's her name, making them famous. He and his music faded off into the sunset. While the Capt and Teneill went to play at Vegas and places like the White House.

Sheesh,

Yeah, now I'm right there with Masaki and Marc, guilty of liking a lot of everyone else's bombs.
"White Rabbit", Grace Slick, classic Jefferson Airplane. A keeper in my book.

"He's so fine" is from yet another golden oldie with lots of do-lang, do-lang, do-langs... Click here to hear The Chiffons

The lyrics to "My Boyfiend's Back" are here and are pretty straightforward.

Awright, Awright!
I've been reading this thread long enough without chipping in. First, many many of these songs had been favorites of mine.
But no one mentioned possibly the worst of all time:

The Dirty Bird, by the Trashmen!

They sounded exactly like their name.

and then there are the Beatles at the height of their weirdness...

I AM THE WALRUS

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly.
I’m crying.

Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come.
Corporation tee-shirt, stupid bloody tuesday.
Man, you been a naughty boy, you let your face grow long.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g’joob.

Mister city policeman sitting
Pretty little policemen in a row.
See how they fly like lucy in the sky, see how they run.
I’m crying, I’m crying.
I’m crying, I’m crying.

Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog’s eye.
Crabalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess,
Boy, you been a naughty girl you let your knickers down.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g’joob.

Sitting in an english garden waiting for the sun.
If the sun don’t come, you get a tan
From standing in the english rain.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g’joob g’goo goo g’joob.

Expert textpert choking smokers,
Don’t you thing the joker laughs at you?
See how they smile like pigs in a sty,
See how they snied.
I’m crying.

Semolina pilchard, climbing up the eiffel tower.
Elementary penguin singing hari krishna.
Man, you should have seen them kicking edgar allan poe.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g’joob g’goo goo g’joob.
Goo goo g’joob g’goo goo g’joob g’goo.

What a great song that was. I think they spent way too much time on that Yellow Submarine!!! or with LUCY in the SKY with DIAMONDS!!! LOL

I AM THE WALRUS
This may be apocryphal, but I heard that "I am the Walrus" was written in reaction to some fan mail John received. Some British schoolkids (from Liverpool!) commented how much they enjoyed analyzing Beatles songs in English class. John was so amused that anyone would take Beatles songs that seriously that he penned "I am the Walrus" as something so weird that it would defy any analysis!!!

Editing to add that the movie, "Magical Mystery Tour" is just plain disturbing. Even friends of mine who were high while watching it thought it was freaky!

Yes, the Beatles certainly did go through their WEIRDNESS time!!

Suzanne, I use to listen to White Rabbit and Light My Fire for hours on end!! I loved them! Then I'd listen to the Beach Boys or something mellow which my parents much preferred.

Beatles at the height of their weirdness...

Is this when John Yoko spent their honeymoon in the department store window? Their bed-in. Toronto, may.

It's not a song, but it does reach beyond the height of weirdness. Or did they write a song about it?
I am just not into the Beatles, but Marcie I thought the Beach boys were wonderful. I used to have one h--- of a dance I could do to "Little Deuce Coupe."

Betty,

Can't wait to see it on MUSH! Followed by all of us doing a line dance, then a few spotlight dances.

Again, while I'm here I'll add "Honey". Hate all those songs about angels taking people away.

Actually Betty, the 'Bed-in for peace' was at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in Montreal. We saw it on the website as one of the suites when we were there in August for our anniversary. We passed however on sleeping where John and Yoko slept!!! LOL

This is from the hotel website.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono suite
This one bedroom Executive suite was the site of the legendary 1969 'Bed-in for Peace', where the song 'Give Peace a Chance' was recorded by John & Yoko. The living room and bedroom feature memorabilia composed of press articles, framed gold records and pictures of the famous couple. This suite can accommodate up to two people. Bed Type: one King bed
Size: 650 sq. ft.
View: City views

Let's see Suzanne. I will need this entire next year to try to even remember the dance, have knee & hip surgery so I can move like I used to, drop thousands of $$ on a personal trainer & oh yes, somehow find time to fit in a face lift and tummy tuck. This MUSH trip is turning into 1 expensive cruise.
And that doesn't include a cool weather wardrobe. I hope the Houston bugs haven't eaten all my cooler weather clothes since my return. For this, I hear TJ Max & Steinmart calling my name. I don't even own a pair of jeans anymore. That's easy. Jacque Penne men's Levi department will work for that.

Hey, I just found a site that has had me in absolute stitches. It's about mangled lyrics. I have been guilty of singing a number of these under my breath.

Check it out: mangled lyics.

And I think I will pass on the John & Yoko suite in Montreal. And if I remember, the management is right. It did have quite a city view - an up close & personal one.

Suzanne, Okay we'll have to do a duet!

Anyone really know the "real' lyrics to
"Stairway to Heaven"
Or "Gimme Shelter" no peeking on internet.. just write it as you remember..
let's see where this goes.. two of the most mixed up song lyrics..
