Kathy, thank you for passing on everybody's love, prayers and sympathy to Claudia. When she is strong enough to return to LCT, you know she'll find support and comfort here. Let her know everybody is thinking of her in this time of need.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. You are one neat lady...my thoughts are with you.

Thank you all my dear friends here at wonderful LCT for your kind thoughts. It is such a true comfort to know that there are people out there like each and every one of you. You are really the best of the best and I have not had the pleasure ,yet, to even get to meet most of you. This has to have been about the worst week of my life. There is nothing like loosing your "better half", your very best friend. I love you all very much.

Claudia,
My heart is breaking for you. As you said, even though we have not met--I hope that knowing so many people are keeping you close in thought and prayer will give you some measure of comfort. I continue to keep you in my prayers.

Dear Claudia:

We don't know each other. I only know you from your posts and, of course, from your smiling picture.
Never lose that smile. I am sure that Al would never want you to.
Remember the good times with your best friend, your husband, your Al and count your blessings.... so many never get to have what you had... even for a short time. You two had something special. Treasure it.

My thoughts and prayers are with you....

Doug

Dear Claudia:

We're so sorry for your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers. At a time like this it is so hard to find words of comfort, but please know that all of us would do anything to give you just that.

While it may be too soon, you might want to read Joan Didion's Year of Magical Thinking . It has a very special message that may sustain you right now.

Margo, I think books like that really do sustain one who is grieving. In a private e-mail to Claudia, I thought of one I gave my mother when my father died, entitled "Widow", that was so helpful to both of us. It was in the 70's, and I couldn't remember who wrote it.

Claudia, here's hoping you are on your way to learning to smile at the wonderful memories you have of your life with Al.

Dear Claudia,
I’ve never met you face to face but feel as if I know you from your posts over the years, you don’t know me however because I have never, ever posted until now. I first “met” you on the yahoo board – I think it was 2003, and then CC, and now LCT. I have enjoyed every one of your messages. Whether it was hot eggs in the suite, BYOB, smoking, country club casual, what does one do with a butler, what is the next ship and when, forward vs aft, and all things in-between.
My husband has worked in the business for many years, I am a newbie (the fish out of water, maybe the fish ON the water) anyway, I felt like I was learning from you. You gave me a great deal of insight into the micro and macro aspects of the business. I wish I could say something that could help you feel better or suffer less at this time but I know right now it is not possible. You lost your best friend and you must grieve. I hope that you find some comfort in knowing that there are many people like myself that you may or may not have met that care about you deeply and are heartbroken to hear of your loss.
I wish I could have met Al. I saw your pictures from last year’s SA cruise and it was obvious how happy you were together. There must be so many special memories that you will surely treasure. Someday I hope we will meet, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. As soon as I return back home to Greece I will light a candle for you in our little church up on a hill that over looks the Aegean Sea. It brought me some comfort when my husband did that for me after I lost my Father recently.
Many warm Regards,
Denise Flokos
