Can't help you with car service, but for theater tickets I think you're best off with AMEX, especially if you're trying to get into a popular show. For restaurants, if your mother-in-law likes seafood, there's a wonderful restaurant called Bluefin in the W hotel ... very good food, fun NY vibe, excellent cooperative service that is unfazed by much of anything, including having to serve a three course meal to a party of 6 in an hour and 15 minutes (we got stuck in traffic before a show). You can walk to just about any show from this location too.
