My husband and I sailed aboard the PG in Oct of last year. We loved Regent so much, that we are considering a trip to the Carribean in March aboard the Mariner-how ever, the date we are looking at is a "mariner club" date. I love my mom, dogs and kids-but not maybe on a cruise. Can anyone give me any input on what I mught expect?

Betsy, I have been on several cruises where there has been a kids sail free promotion and have never noticed more than a handful of children on board. March is prime time spring break for the kids, maybe someone who has sailed during this time will pipe in as I don't think my cruises were in March but I can't be sure :)

As far as I can remember, we have only had one account of kids gone wild on a cruise and that was several years ago. Since then, I don't think I can remember anyone mentioning an invasion of young'uns on their sailing!

The club Mariner really takes care of the children very well that are on the ship. Spring break and times when children usually cruise they now have Club Mariner on board.

THe one time on the Diamond that Karen refers to was prior to them having Club Mariner and primarily one family that had a whole pile of "difficult" children.

You should have no problems.

Last June on our Alaska cruise there were children, but the only times I recall seeing them were once in the elevator they were going for a tour of the bridge (all were well behaved) and the other time was not as pleasant in Compass Rose. About 5 families were dining in there with the adults at one table and the children at another one.

When we arrived they were all done eating and the children were running rampant and being very noisy i.e. whining, crying, screaming to the point it disrupted not only ours, but others, dining experience.

They were getting some nasty looks from all of us and finally after about 30 minutes of this the head waiter spoke to them and they kindly left.

I don't mind children on a cruise as long as they are well mannered and in this instance I really blame the parents allowing them to run wild so they could converse and have fun. Many of the children were small and you could tell they were tired from a long day and just needed to be put to bed.

Oh shoot- I can spell Caribbean!

Betsy, hopefully you will never get a correction here for spelling, as we ALL do it from time to time! That is a "trick word" for me. I always remember only because a good friend has it in her e-mail address!

Betsy - I,too, find Cari??? tricky - my downfall, for years, has been "yacht" - finally taught myself A comes before C comes before H - as Olivia said, no spelling bee contestants here - whoops did I spell Y correctly??? :( :(

I too am always concerned about children on cruises. On the Mariner last Christmas there were several large families with lots of little ones. Club Mariner kept them well occupied and I can happily say that they were not at all intrusive :app:

I finally got the spelling of Caribbean correct this last January when I was in the Caribbean.

Oh and Gil and I were on the Voyager for New Years and no problems with kids. Matter of fact, the last day we were on the private island Regent rents in the bahamas and we went snorkeling and saw about 12 kids playing in the water. Gil looked at me and said, "Did you know there were so many kids on board? I never saw them!" And it was true.

We booked the Mariner for next April to avoid the spring break season . Last yeat we sailed on the Mariner on March 13 and there were only at most ten children but one family with young children convinced us to try our best to avoid any chance of children on regent...They were just not well behaved and the parents thought that was cute... We did not..

It only takes one "darling" family to ruin a trip -

We were on the Voyager Christmas cruise this year and there were 100 kids onboard and we
hardly ever saw them. The camp they run is marvelous and the kids are busy night and day. They even wanted to have room service for dinner so they could go back to their activities. No kids in Compass Rose, and they joined the show after dinner and sat up front and had a great time. It waas a wonderful cruise for us, and we met some really nice young couples that were amazed at how busy the kids were, and they had to go drag them away from their games to spend time with them. Regent did a great job!!!
