A few odds and ends.

I spoke to someone at Regent and there are (at this point) 374 full world cruisers. Down from what we'd heard - 400+.

jacket: they are standard sized as opposed to last years jackets which ran large. We will get them on the ship (as opposed to at the pre-cruise event).

The ShorEx book is at the printers so we'll get that at some point . . .

I also posted on the 2008 thread that Regent is waiting for the results of the survey to finalize the plans for 2008 and the guy who does that is out of the country till next week.

Peggy, tell me more about these jackets. We got beautiful, very heavy jackets on our South America cruise. Living in So.Ca. we didn't have much use for them (we left them on the Mariner to wear for MUSH and now Karen & Mark are the proud owners.) What were your's like?

What was your pre-cruise gift last year that came to your home? (we got the brass bell in 2005).

Thanks for sharing all this good info with us!

Hi Marcie,

Not much to tell:the 2007 jackets are standard windbreakers - waist-length. I'm hoping they will be similar to the logo jackets the shop carries.

The 2006WC jackets sound as if they were like yours on the SA trip. The sizes were very strange - a medium was more like a large and even an extra small was big. As you can imagine, there was lots of flack.

The only other thing I was told is that we'll get the jackets on the ship. In 2006, they were presented at the pre-cruise party which meant everyone had to carry them to the ship when they boarded.

I don't know anything more specific . . .

Thanks Peggy!

Elaine, I've added you and Stan to the list. It will be great seeing you both again! Not sure how I missed you when I started the roll call.

We're up to 8 full world cruisers and 5 one or more segment cruisers! This is great!

Marcie: For the Gala Dinner on Jan. 8th, what is the dress code? Is it formal or informal?

Informal for pre-cruise party.

Did you get the packet which list how many informal, formal, cccasual nights each segment? Also list the option you need to choose for Mombasa excursion on Feb. 12. We chose Amboseli in the Shadow of Mighty Kilimanjaro.

One of my favorite excursions we did on '05 WC is NOT listed...The Night Zoo in Singapore! I wonder why it's no longer an excursions option?

Marcie, perhaps because Singapore is a "changeover" port? Who knows, maybe it is not a big seller, but I would love to do that one of these days.

I don't think so . . I looked at the Regent site. We arrive at 9am the morning of Feb 24th and sail the same day at 6pm.

I'd be curious where you found the information - maybe there are other changes! Inquiring minds and all that!

Peggy :)

P.S. I agree with Marcie - it's a terrific tour. The man who planned it was Warren Thomas who ran the LA Zoo for years.

Have any of you booked the terrific Cambodia trip? We did it last year and they have added another night. We visit three of the most fascinating jungle temples including the one where Raiders of the Lost Ark was filmed.

Peggy, I was WRONG! Forgive me. I looked at the itinerary on B&K website, and saw Singapore at the end of one segment, and Singapore at the beginning of the next. Made the wrong assumption that they were two days there. Sorry.

Olivia . .there is nothing to forgive! We've all done the same thing, looking at the itineraries.

I wish we'd have some idea if there are any specific changes though. On the last WC, Captain Dag said he thought that Taiwan and Kota Kinabalu were going ot be left out but both ports are still on the "official" itineraries. I guess it is a case of "we shall see"

Peggy, thanks! I try not to post something as fact until I am certain through checking. Now, I know you have probably been to Singapore, but I found the Botanical gardens there to be the best I've ever seen, other than Butchart in Victoria. Of course, I'm partial to flowers. The Orchids, well, really the whole place was AMAZING. I really took a LOT of photos here when I was on the Silversea Shadow!

I suppose on the WC, a "we shall see" mode must prevail. You never know what the weather and the seas will bring. When I was on a leg a couple of years ago with Marcie, we had that horrible storm in the Bass Straits, and missed the Melbourne port and another to see small penguins. The bonus was extra time in Sydney.

By the way, if you are into scenic walks, in Sydney do the Bondi Beach walk on your own. It is wonderful, not hard at all, and great vistas not only of the rocks and sea, but watching the surfers as well!

Peggy knows all so well about our Bass Straits experience as she was on too....she was just quieter on LCT in those days. She is our queen of WC's!

Yes, Peggy is the veteran WC lady. No wonder she caught me with my mistake. I'm going to look forward to BOTH of your posts, since I don't get to get "on" for a cruise segment this time!

We visited the botanical gardens in Singapore a long time ago. I remember the orchids as being fantastic . . .

We were on for that "wonderful night" in the Bass Straits . . . Thank Heavens for Captain Dag and his excellent seamanship!

Every trip is an experience!

We received a mail out today that an additional 2007 President's cruise is being added on the Paul Gauguin for January 7, 2007. Guess Mark Conroy won't be at the Gala party at the Four Seasons.

Sidenote: it would save on RSSC mailing cost if their computers would NOT send such mail outs to clients who are obviously booked on another cruise on the exact same dates. Maybe they just don't want us to feel left out. :)

Marcie,

I can't imagine that Mark won't be at the party. Probably he'll fly out to the PG the next day.

I've never been on a "President's Cruise" but is the idera that President is supposed to be on for the whole trip?

I am sure that Mark Conroy will be at the Four Season's party. According to the letter regarding the PG, Christian will be the host on the President's Cruise and Mark will join the ship the last few days of the cruise.Looking forward to seeing everyone on Jan. 8th

A "heads up" for everyone going on the full world cruise: if you read the fine print on the regent/zvs information it says the paperwork cannot be in before 90 days before we leave.

It also says that zvs needs 55 business days so that it is not considered "late/rush". 55 business days from next week is very close to Christmas (and we all know what the mail is like that time of year).

I know we don't have to pay the normal costs but are responsible for the late fees if we do not give ZVS enough time - the 55 business days.

Last time we sent in to Zierer for an Indian Visa it only took 3 weeks from home-home. Make sure you send the application and passports by certified mail, return receipt requested. By the way, B&K is going to make the final payments next Monday, since the 8th(due day) is a Sunday. A big hit for us, but a huge one for the full WCers.

How did you send it when the ZVS site under Regent hasn't listed the WC yet? It doesn't open on the ZVS site until 90 days prior. The only things listed at present are 2006 cruises.

Doug,

We got a packet from ZVS about a week ago (we are full cruisers) and there was an address - actually there were 3 addresses (NY, DC and SFO) - for ZVS.

I called ZVS to find out which one I should use (866-788-1100)and off they went. I'm alwys glad to get the paperwork out but happier to get the passports back.

I did send it a few days early - it's not due till early next week.

Peggy :)

Ah-So! I was wondering how Regent handled full WCers. At least they pay the tab for you. We'll submit our Brazilian VISA application next week, but I don't like it. Brazil is leaning in the wrong direction IMHO.

Marcie, Please take us off your roll call for the WC. We have had to cancel due to our up coming move. We have not been able to sell our house, so we have to stay put and be available to show our home. We are so disappointed. I was so looking forward to this exciting cruise. We just loved doing the WC segments the last two years. We will book for next year as soon as reservations open. :mecry: :mecry: :mecry:
