Received another price from Karmel Shuttle.
They have a 25 passenger coach for $253.00
or $10.12 per person but taxes and gratuity are INCLUDED.

Westin list is now updated with Todd and Masaki approx arrival times.

It's $100 to change...I just think that's a bit much...it would have been fun though!

Jim - nope, we're getting to the Westin on 11/11/04 like all of you (ok, most of you) - but I still might be one of the first there. So maybe I still can be the greeter! :)

Sheri - I'll chip in! :D

After rereading your post I see that you will be in on 11/11/04.
All the shuttle companies pushed real hard to let me know it is important to reserve the shuttles just as soon as possible so they are not booked up for something else.
Hope we can get everyone to let us know asap.

Well, Hawaiian Airlines has screwed us up. :( They changed our flights coming in and out of LAX - the short of it all is that our flight leaving LAX which was initially departing slightly past noon on November 19 got rescheduled to 10:30 AM that day - there is NO way we're going to make that getting off of Mariner that day. We've talked to HAL about this and they can't do anything about this - the next flight is at 5 pm and I don't really fancy hanging out in the airport for about 5 hours or so so now we've rescheduled for the next morning at 8:30 AM and we'll be spending another night at the Westin LAX. (gotta go bid on Priceline now).

Just wanted to grumble ....

Masaki

PS: they actually also screwed up our incoming flight as well so now we have to spend yet another night in LA as well (another bid on Priceline!) but don't get me started on that issue ...

Masaki and Amanda, I'm so sorry to hear about the flight change! If I were you, I'd consider Kathy's wonderful offer to visit some of the great So. Cal sites on 11/19 and catch the 5pm flight. This way you don't need another overnight.

That's very nice of you Kathy!! :)

Olivia,
I called about that 5p.m. flight...it would be $100 to change, but my biggest problem is that there is only one seat left, and I just MIGHT ;) have a guest! I am going to keep calling to see if something opens up! I would love to come in the night before!

Woo hoooooo...look out LA, here we come...I am on the 5:45 p.m. from Pit-Lax on Nov 11th....now I have to make reservations at the Westin!! We don't get in until 8 p.m., so don't close the party down before we get there!!!!

Olivia and Suzanne (if you come in the night before), we should share a ride over to the hotel!

Sheri

Priceline bidding for this is EASY. Go to www.priceline.com and bid on a hotel. Click on "Hotels", click on Los Angeles, select the right days (11/11???) and checkout days (11/12!), hit next, click on LAX, click next, click on 4*, enter $60, you might have to enter your personal information at this point. Anyway.....4*, $60 and LAX and you get it!!

Kathy and Marcie - you guys are sweet. :) Already booked the overnight at LAX though after MINT - so we'll be around. Since I'm "stranded" in LA, I'll be forced to do some shopping so there's a store in Gardena that I'm pondering dropping by for yet another one of my hobbies. But no other plans as of now otherwise ...

Well that gives us 14 so far on the shuttle to the ship.
I leave Wednesday am for Portland and back Sunday evening. (niece's wedding.) Hopefully we will have more letting me know if they are going on the shuttle.
Todd are we just meeting in the hotel bar? Before and after dinner?

The plan is to leave the Westin at noon or shortly there after.
That way we can sleep in, check out, get on the shuttle, drive about 30 to 45 minutes, get on the ship, (hope we can), have a little lunch on board, then check into our cabins.

We can meet in bar area on pool deck at around 1:00. Lawrence is flying in one day early and staying at "Casa Matassa". Even my sister, Merrily, is coming on board for a couple of hours before sailing! She wanted to come with us so badly but it just didn't work out...this is the next best thing!

Now I know I said shuttle leaves the Westin at noon, but I really think that depends on what time we are allowed to board the Mariner.

By the way.
If there is anyone out there that is flying into LAX on the morning of the cruise and would like to join us for the shuttle please let me know.
Might as well catch the "free" Westin shuttle to the hotel then turn around and go with the group.

Jim, the ship's policy is always boarding at 3 PM, but I have gotten on many times at 12:30 or 1:00, as have many others. I'm sure we'll be fine with your time frame.

I have boarded right around 12-12:30 almost every time...they always take your carry ons from you and take them to your suite and then you go off and "do your thing"...cabins usually aren't ready until after 2-2:30. So, I vote for leaving the Westin at Noon.

Getting antsy - no Cabin # yet. "Only" about 7 weeks to go.

I am flying into Long Beach that morning - anyone else doing that?
I understand LB airport is pretty close?

Yeah, when I was searching for hotels close to the harbor, I saw that airport. It is very close to LA Harbor.

Gil, Long Beach is a good choice of airports. It is the closest to San Pedro and the easiest to get in and out of.

Oh just want to go on vacation again and get away from all the traffic, congestions etc here in LA. Once school starts in LA the streets and freeways are a MESS!

Mexico City was interesting. Went to the Sun and the Moon pyramids as DougW suggested and it was well worth it. Pics on ofoto.com under "friends albums". Hotel was excellent - The JW Marriott in the hotel district. Built as a Mandarin Oriental in 1999. Got it on Priceline - 3 nights - 3 rooms - $66 per night/room!
