Jim,

I wouldn't mind doing a bit of deep sea fishing in either Cabo or Mazatlan but am wary of the boats and the operators. Anyone with interest or knowledge of any outfits to use?

I was just looking at CC posts about RSSC and there were some comments about how people had THOUGHT they had booked excursions on line only to find out when they got on board they had nothing.

Thanks Jim!

Kimmi, I hear you. I have to be the voice of reason when it comes to cruising. I got Masaki to come to his senses and we had to cancel our May trip on the PG. And cool as ROAR sounds, it's WAY out of our league right now. :(

We would have loved to go on MINT ourselves - actually, since we work to support our Travel habit, we have to pass on both ROAR and MINT, but are on PIP. So unless RSSC comes up with a freebie, we are landlocked once we return from our New England on Navigator until we meet all aboard the PG. Once everyone decides about meeting the night before, I will come down and greet all of you at LAX

Guess we kind of need a list started where everyone will be on November 11th.

Westin LAX Approx arrival time
Masaki (Masaki & Amanda)
Jim B (Jim & Jan) 4:15 pm
JHP (Olivia & Joanna) 8:00 pm
mp8shnt (Todd)
Iujawbreaker (Anthony & Paige) 8:20 pm
M'ellen (M'ellen, Jim, Jeanne) 9:00 pm
I know for sure. Let me know who else.

Jim, can you edit that and add my daughter Joanna with me? I don't think we get in until 8 or so, will everyone just be in the bar at the hotel? (Not to say we are a bunch of bar flies or anything like that!)

Jim,

Paige any myself will be at the Westin, but we too do not get in until about 8:20.

Olivia, are you connecting in Charlotte?

We certainly want to meet up with everyone when we arrive.

Anthony, I have no idea! I bought those tickets so long ago so I could upgrade with points, I don't even know when I am leaving! But I seem to remember that we get there too late for dinner.

I am so excited to welcome you into our lct community. There are lots of people here that I have either met or traveled with, great group of people!

Sheri - you sound like me. :) When Amanda laid down the law on PIP, I was sulking for a good 2-3 days. Unfortunately, it'll have to wait for a time when we have more free time/resources. At least we get to meet you on MINT!

We definitely need a plan to meet up with the late birds coming in too late for dinner! Maybe a rendezvous in the hotel bar at 9-10 pm or something like that? Kathy - definitely looking forward to meeting you, even if you're not coming on MINT with us!

Yep! I can see it now.
We will have a early bird cocktail party and a
late arrival party.
Just think. We don't have to get up early the next day. :D
Just looked at the Westin on line and saw pictures of the resturants. They really look nice. No lounge pictures availible.

So it looks like cocktails at say 7:00 pm, then dinner to follow, followed by an after dinner cocktail gathering. Sounds great to me! I am so excited!!!! The restaurant looks beautiful! [Linked Image]

Jim. Todd...Clue me in...is this at the LAX Westin for the out-of-towners? (I hope this isn't planned for our house at 7:00...The photo doesn't look anthing like our living room!...my curtains are blue...not to mention we'd be 3 people per chair!) :D :D

I think some of the MINTers are arriving late from back East?...may be sleeping in their soup, ah, correction, Cosmos!

Marcie that was funny.
I think that it would be best if we stay at the Westin for dinner.
This would work better for everyone's flight schedules and as they arrive at the Westin they can join in. 7:00 p.m. sounds like a perfect time to sort of plan for dinner. After we get more arrival times posted this might need to be changed. Yes a post dinner in the bar makes sense.
Masaki. What do you mean by brush with celebrity?
We still need someone,(or who ever it was), to contact and help line up a shuttle bus to transfering us to the ship the next day.
I just can't find the previous posts we had discussing this.

Jim - that was in reference to Gretchen's post. She had mentioned that Joe and Carolyn Behar was going to be joining us (Gretchen's sister) - it turns out that Joe is an ex in-law of Joy Behar from the ABC daytime TV program "The View". Sorry, sort of convoluted, I know. :)

Wasn't it Suzanne who was trying to figure out transportation? confused

I wish that I had booked a flight to come in on the 11th, but unfortunately I won't be there until about noon-ish on the 12th. So, I guess I will just have to wait to have cocktails with my LCT friends onboard....ah, c'est la vie...life is SO rough!!! :D

OHHH...it is coming up so fast!!!

Masaki, I hope you and Amanda are ready for my persuasive ways....maybe you will be on PIP after all!!! :D I am just glad I at least get to meet you both on MINT!

HUH?

I'm arranging transportation for you overnighters from the Hotel to the ship?? I don't get in until the 12th, will rendezvous with Sheri at LAX, then on to the Mariner....

Now, if Sheri wants to pay the fee to change her ticket, I will spring for the room (and a portion of the cocktails) and we will join you all at the Westin.

No Jim, it was not Suzanne, it was one of the ladies who lives in Southern California as I remember, just giving us links to places where we could call for reservations. ( I remember because when I called I thought it was like $65-75 pp, when in fact it was $65-75 for the whole van!) That "might" have been Marcie, ChatCat, but no one who will be staying with us to my knowledge. SO, would you like to be nominated? Realtors are such good organizers, SO much better than doctors and lawyers! I will serve on a subcommittee if you insist.

Suzanne - OK, maybe not you. :) Bummer that you and Sheri aren't coming in sooner. Hawaiian Air is playing roulette with our flight arrangements so I have a couple of phone calls to them to figure things out. At the rate we're going, we may end up staying 3 different nights at the Westin LAX. (sigh)

Olivia - I wholeheartedly second the nomination of Jim to figure out transportation! :D

I don't mind putting the transportation together but that is why I keep asking all the questions.
I don't know anything about LAX area and have no idea who would be best to call. That is why I was hoping someone from the area would help.
I think we need to have some questions answered so when we do make arrangements we have a better idea of what to tell them.
1. How many will be riding the shuttle?
2. What time will we need them to pick us up and take us to the ship?

What is the name of the port the Mariner will be located?
Would like to see more responses to my previous post on who and when everyone arrives in LAX and the Westin.

OK here goes.
I have contacted Super Shuttle,(Prime Time Shuttle), about picking us up at the Westin
They would use 7 passenger vans and charge us $66.00 per van.
What we will need to determine is how many vans will be needed and what time do we want them to pick us up.
I am still waiting for Blue Van to respond.
I thought I would see what it would cost for a shuttle service that might have a larger shuttle van. One that holds around 15 to 20. If anyone knows which company might have have something like this please let me know.

I'd love to do that Suzanne...I WILL check into the schedules and the cost for changing my ticket...I can't miss any more work, so it would have to have the right schedule...I'll let you know...if not, we will just have to make up for it on the Mariner...YIKES!!!

Jim B., I'd suggest we leave around noon. That way, we would be able to have a nice lunch together out on deck after boarding, and cabins would be ready for us by 2:30 or so.

Did we ever have a Westin Roll call? May need to do a separate thread to see who needs transportation, and take it from there for the reservations. Anyone not responding can make their own arrangements.

A Westin Roll call, like Olivia said and which I just initiated, would be the best way to handle those interested in Jim's services

P.S. - Olivia, if you are connecting in Charlotte, I bet we are on the same flight

Yes I started a Westin list on page 7 here on this topic page but I think I am going to start a new one topic
MINT CRUISERS AT WESTIN 11/11/04
and then will only put down who will be there.
Other wise it will get lost.
Todd I already have you down but don't have arrival even though you will be driving or cab.
Masaki I need your arrival or is it going to be already there?

I just received information from TRANSTAR Shuttle Service.
They have a 28 passenger mini bus that is $275.00
one way. That is $9.83 per person. Prime time shuttle was 7 passenger $66.00 or $9.43 per person. Very little difference in per person price.
Karmel Shuttle came in at $253.00 for 25 passenger coach. or $10.12 per person, but this INCLUDES taxes and gratuity so also looks very good.
I think we will need to look at this closer when we see how many will be on the shuttles.
Thoughts are that it would be more fun to all be together on one bus if that works.

Jim - thanks so much for "volunteering" to take this on! :) We all appreciate it greatly!

See my reply on the other thread but we're driving in the day before - probably going to shoot for arriving at the Westin around 4-5 pm or so. Ohhhhh, LA traffic ... (sigh)

Sheri - definitely see if you can join us at the Westin!!
